No he isn't. I'm still waiting.

Well in that case i apologise, but I know of no one else in that position and I think the forums would have been pretty red hot were there many others. I assume you have contacted IS, so what is their reason for not paying you what is owed?
Hmm, I'm not sure we're talking about the same bug. This one is from Jan 1-3rd, when my royalties were set back to 15% (i dont think everyone was affected). I meant to contact support but then i saw Sean posting in the forums that he still was waiting too; with a response from Kelvin the corrections for those would be there 'soon'.
Sean, did you get yours corrected in the meantime?

am I wrong in thinking they still haven't back-paid the difference in commission from the last time this happened?

You are wrong in thinking that, yes.
No he isn't. I'm still waiting.

Not entirely, hence the afaik (as far as i know)...  ;)
Have to admit they're still my favourite agency, but thats also because im barely affected by their similars policy because i usually only pick one, max. two pictures from one shoot...i can definitely see how this policy gets on peeps nerves. They're the only agency where i often get $5-8 on a download though.

Buuut, afaik DT never punished anyone for speaking their mind outside their forums, FT on the other hand.....

The one bit of real info I could see in that post was that "There are currently no plans to alter royalty rates at iStock."

That is comforting as far as it goes.  It would be much more comforting if the same "currently no plans" language had not been used so many times before regarding things that were later implemented.
Amen.
Wheww, i certainly feel a lot wiser and more "heard" after this post. They had to work for 2 days on a post that doesnt say anything, apart from  'nothing will change' (outside collections invading/dominating istock), or possibly might or might not change (review process)?
A bunch of non-answers, as i expected.  At least good to know istock is very healthy and continues to grow, as we all see reflected in our numbers  ::)

For the people who are calling the staff incompetent, keep in mind that what you are capable of, and what you are told to do by your bosses, may be two different things.
Absolutely, ive seen it happen too often in the workfield.
Peeps having to follow insanely ineffective and needlessly complicated procedures,  because management in their ivory towers are clueless and incompetent.

I wonder if the in-house masseuse got sacked too...
Sincere sympathies to those that were layed off though.  :-[

Just read the thing and i'm very contra; its just too much focussed on censoring and has too many disadvantages to outweigh the benefits.
What strikes me is that once again the illegal downloaders themselves remain out of target. (unless i missed something). If they would actually start pursueing the ones who download illegal/copyrighted content i think the results would be far better. The chance of getting caught AND sue'ed/fined would probably have more effective disencouraging effects, rather than making it a game to get to the barred website (through online proxies, alternative domain names, direct IP access etc). And pirate sites without 'clients' do download have little reason to stay online.

I must sound awfully  ignorant, but how can the US take down foreign websites which fall under other jurisdictions...?
I dont quite get it  :-\ Isnt that why Heroturko and consorts are still around, because they fall under Russian jurisdiction and Russia doesnt want to do anything about it?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: PP Sales for this month are now coming in
« on: January 15, 2012, 19:00 »
Maybe the individual stats will show up in a day or two?  I don't know.  I have too many images in the PP to be able to keep track.

The one thing I do know is September sales still have not been added to the individual image totals.  What a mess!
It must be that, single stats updating after sales come in; but then why does it show 'some' numbers already...? What a mess indeed  :-\

This is the first time i have the forced PP downloads coming in... and there's something i dont get...
5 of my pics have been transferred so far, when i click 'partner program' on 'my uploads' it says that one has been downloaded 3 times, and another 2 times... the other 3 show(ed... i deleted them from istock a couple of days ago) zero downloads; yet on my december stats it shows daily downloads, around 20 so far.
I rather have it this way than the other one around, but i was wondering if you guys see the same inconsistency too?

Photoshop Discussion / Re: Photoshop alters upgrade policy
« on: January 13, 2012, 19:15 »
I was a bit wrong, its only allowed in North America, not just the US. There seems to be a lot of confusion about it (mostly just because its only allowed in certain regions) and some sources contradict themselves. But it was confirmed in the Adobe forums, commercial works only allowed in North America.
Being in Europe I fully agree its stupid :(

Photoshop Discussion / Re: Photoshop alters upgrade policy
« on: January 13, 2012, 18:33 »
I have found that by upgrading lightroom when I get a new camera, I can get the raw functionality, and then just transfer the resulting TIFs into any photoshop version.  Unfortunately, Photoshop will only allow you to install on two computers.  If you get a new one, or have to do a destructive recovery, it's a real hassle to reinstall.

If you do have to pay for the full version, it's a lot cheaper to get the educational version.  If you have kids in school you qualify.  With my husband a teacher and my daughter in college it makes sense for me.
I was looking at those options earlier this week because i'm starting an education soon... Apparently only people in the US are allowed the use the educational version for commercial works, for peeps outside the US its not allowed.  >:( Grrrrrrr....

Dreamstime.com / Re: Do you also have very few EL's on DT?
« on: January 12, 2012, 19:08 »
Yeah, SS definitely rocks with EL's!
DT is my n3 in sales, but is by far on the bottom when it comes to ELs.
I really can't think of an explanation; EL options are advertised clearly, aren't too expensive... really beats me.  ???

Thanks for your replies guys!

Seems im not alone in having very few ELs there, i really wonder what causes this...
Can't be just "its not their thing" ;)

« on: January 11, 2012, 22:52 »
It's going a tad slow indeed, but i see less and less time between different downloads, so i'd think there is some growth. The site excells in its simplicity and user-friendliness and the quality of the collection looks excellent...you guys have a lot going for you, i'm in for the long haul too :) (unfortunately im a small fish)
I also like contributors now can convert their royalties into credits (at a nice rate!)!

Dreamstime.com / Do you also have very few EL's on DT?
« on: January 11, 2012, 17:56 »
I have a small port so i'm pretty vulnerable to the tides, but i've been wondering about this for awhile...
On SS i generally have 5-10 EL's/month, on iStock 2-5/month (less now), when i was still with FT i also had them on a somewhat regular basis, same with Veer... but on DT i've had 2 (!) since i started submitting in 2008.
I've double checked to make sure my files are opted in for EL's there, so thats not it.

So i was wondering, do you bigger/steadier ports people have regular EL's there, or do they also come waaaay fewer compared to other sites? ???

iStockPhoto.com / Re: For Indies who pulled ports from Istock...
« on: January 11, 2012, 17:50 »
Although i swore to myself not to get worked up about them anymore, i failed at it, again...
One of my leftover files there got a 125 credit EL (items for resale), of which i got $10.33... (2nd time this happens). I really rather didnt have an EL at all if this is what i get.  >:(
(i post it here because its another step towards pulling my port entirely... and i needed a place to vent)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Political (in-)Actions
« on: January 11, 2012, 13:15 »
As much as i'm opposed to extreme right ideologies; i still i dont think its perceived as misuse by the majority...
Many of the comments below the article state it would be worse to use a real homeless man for a political campaign, or that its used to convey a message and it doesnt matter whether its a real homeless man or not...which i tend to agree with.

I think it is deceptive and therefore misuse. The image is being used as 'evidence' of the homeless issue. If it is such a big issue then they should have had no problem in gathering actual evidence.

Why would it be wrong to use a real homeless man? Provided he consented to be portrayed as such and was properly renumerated (just like any other model) what's the problem? A real homeless man might have been very grateful for the job and the food, clothes or whatever he chose to buy with the money. Not only that but he would be assisting the highlighting of an issue that affects him personally.
I should have put "a tend to agree with the latter"; i dont have a problem with using a real homeless person either, as long as s/he was well informed and consented.
I don't think its misuse though; you can just as well say its being used to illustrate the homeless issue, rather than being 'evidence'; plus,  being the devil's advocate here: a picture of one real homeless person doesnt necesarily mean its a widespread issue in France, its doesnt add or substract from the truth, imho.

Very welcome Lisa! (:

Hahaha, i didnt notice what the article was about until now, just saw the pic and posted it.
(ethical vs unethical discussion aside, i always thought it was against the ToS to use stock pictures in political campaigns?)
