Heya Simsi
The 1.0.29 update ensures that only the https protocol can be used when logging into dreamstime (they recently changed their site preventing standard http login for expired (or non-existent) sessions (this is why it's working for some but not for others.
To save the details for the correct protocol (https), save your login to firefox when logging into DT using the page opened by the blue Dreamstime link in the picNiche preferences panel (Tools/picNicheTools/Options).
The same should work for 123RF too, though their unusual subdomain and protocol configuration sometimes gets the firefox password manager confused. Please let me know if it's still not working after saving your details at those pages
Thanks Bob
yeah, i got DT working. But 123RF doesn't work since the beginning. Once very short, miraculously, but then I had to reinstall windows and lost the settings and since then I never made it work again. I even tried to put the settings by hand into the about:config of firefox... lol. Thanks for any help! Simone

123 now back, but have lost BS !?
Does clicking the '123' button take u to their site ok ? in other words r u set up correctly ?
well it says this thing "no username match found for 123RF in firefox manager...blablabla". but i can't make it work, the username and password are stored in the password manager. I even tried to write it into the firefox config file by hand...lol. didn't work.

Hello, are you guys using picNiche? I really love it, but I always have troubles... it has never accepted my 123RF password, and now after a firefox update the same thing is happening with DT. I read in the update log that the 123RF logon problem is solved, and still I can't log on. I have the newest version now. Thanks for any comments! Simone Edit: I am not sure if I am allowed to post in this area... should only company owners post here to advertise? sorry for the inconvenience, if it is wrong, please just delete my post.

I assume it takes the same flash card as the D200 right? and what about the battery? are they the same or different? Sure would be nice to have that extra battery if needed.
Not having used the D200 I don't know. It uses an SD card, I bought a 16GB for not much money and it is fast enough for bursts. The battery is this one: http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Batteries/25334/EN-EL3e.htmlIt is good for around 850 photos in the advertisement. I haven't counted the actual no. of shots, but it really does stay very long. I bought two of them a year ago, and they are still very good. Simone

I'd take the D90. I have it and I am totally satisfied. It is a big step ahead from the other bodies like D60, etc., and I'd say it comes close to the D300. For some of the newer things like the flash options, it is very good, it has all the options needed for full operation of the external flashes: it can operate remote flashes without buying the wireless trigger (I don't remember its name), it can detect all the information the flash transmits, such as which color foil you put on the flash for WB, and more. Some of these options are only included in the D90, D700 and D3, not even the D300 can command all of those things. The image quality is very good, and you can use it with lenses without motor. You can buy the motorless f1.8 50mm for something like 100$ or so. I think the only thing the D5000 has that the D90 doesn't have is the tiltable LCD screen. When you use Live View it might come in handy, holding the camera overhead. However, LiveView for now is a no-option, it is so slow, so I never use it except in special situations.

Also on Linux, you can edit the /etc/hosts file. For mac I don't know, but I am sure there is also a way.

oh yes, actually you only see that when you are not logged in...because then the system doesn't know the currency and you have to select one.

which price do you see for your RF pictures? (i mean you don't need to tell the amount, just if the currency conversion is correct?)

Just google 'Epson Stylus Pro 4800' and see for yourself !! that's over 1000 !! and pretty typical
Maybe a 2400 would suit better ??
yeah lol...that is what i actually did before being kind of shocked ;-). my question would be if i can get away with a few hundred dollars also or if it has to be this kind of price range. i am seeing very often those below 100$ inkjet printers in the store and was thinking maybe photo quality can be achieved with a few hundred dollars? anyway it is just a question and it really seems that printing with a service is cheaper if you don't print all the time or have specialty needs.

I just checked on some of my RF pictures on Alamy and got confused: For example maximum size costs 360 Euros, 365 USD, and 255 pounds. Where I have to remark that Euros and USD are absolutely not corresponding to the same amount of money! So how is it paid - should I switch my account to Euros to get more money?

So what is approx. the minimum/average/quality sum one has to spend for a printer with professional quality? (sorry for the very stupid question, this is very new to me).
Thanks Simone

Hello,
I am wondering if you guys do printing at home or you send/bring your stuff to a printing store. How much is the price nowadays for a quality printer? Does it make sense?
Thanks, Simone

I am not sure if it is still the same problem, but you can edit your hosts file and force that the new IPs are used for the microstockgroup site: Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and insert the following: 205.134.239.191 microstockgroup.com 205.134.239.191 blog.microstockgroup.com 205.134.239.191 www.microstockgroup.comYou must open this file as an admin I think to be able to edit it. This IP is the address of the new server. Simone

hehe, yeah feels a bit like rebelling but i also look at it from an engineering point of view. if you think of it you can see the source code and do with it whatever you like! and it is the same concept for most of the software. i find that really amazing. for windows stuff you never ever see the source code. but i must say all this package thing and installing problem doesn't exist anymore that way. in ubuntu you just install things from the application manager, and it also updates everything automatically. i was really amazed. i installed it, and everything (!) worked. no driver issues, no software issues. i wanted to install it only to play around a little and i immediately ended up using it all the time. i also knew linux from earlier times, where i needed many hours just to find out how to change screen resolution....lol. but it is not like this anymore and that is what made me happy. nowadays you can just install it and use it. i will probably boot windows for the photos, but for the rest it is working totally great and is much faster.

Did u go and put your acceptance images through to your portfolio, or are they still sitting there waiting ??
I did 3 of mine (the 4th was for acceptance only), but I think I had to redo all the data !? (can't truly remember)
nono, they're in my portfolio already. i think keywords were taken automatically... simone

hm. i had no troubles with the old editor - but the new version didn't work well for me. i don't remember though, i haven't had the time yet to upload big bunches to alamy, there are still my 4 initial pictures only. the keywording worked flawlessly for them...

nice to hear that other people are using Linux . i didn't know that gimp is limited to 8 bit, that's kind of a drawback for me . but...do you guys have something similar to lightroom? i read of bibble, but it doesn't seem to be for free, and so i don't know if i should give it a try. have you tried lightzone? what else do you use to organize your files? photoshop btw runs under wine if you are interested. lightroom also in principle but there is still a small problem that i can't solve. what are those raw tools doing? as i am shooting everything in raw, it is kind of cumbersome for me to edit each single picture with the raw converter. lightroom was perfect for that. i guess in the worst case i just boot windows for photo-jobs and linux for all the rest. :-) simone
