So malamus has been banned from the forum at Istock after this truly dreadfull post: http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=329938&page=1 I mean, imagine posting for help on printing in a photography forum (at least I think that was my last entry).

I think its best really because it stops me posting abuse at this... (bite tounge, bite tounge)

Cheers

Its hard to pick up sarcasim in text, dot you realy think lobo/istock would prefer us to purchase images else where? I cant understand the logic. And who is this lobo in relation to the big picture. Does he own istock or is he an employ with a chip on his shoulder

Hello.

Back in Feb 2010, because I mistakenly wrote from my self (malamus) using the company buyer account (LL) here is the mistake ( http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=180261&messageid=3118701#post3118701) I wrote this to Istock in December...

At present I do have access to another account created and funded and owned by my employer, I am employed as a graphic designer, who needs to be able to purchase images on behalf on my employer. But due to my exposure to iStock I decided to become a contributor my self and create the account malamus-uk. Is this OK? I don't see why not. here is the link in which it appeared ( http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=282442&page=1)

There was no answer given, just a lot of banter. This morning I (malamus-uk) received a site mail threatening the closure of my Istock account as a contributor with no reason given. It appears that recently, the company I work for's account (strictly a buyer) has requested a refund on mis-purchased files. here is the link ( http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=330630&page=1 ) Is this a scare tactic?

So are buyers allowed to contribute, and more accurately, as a contribute am I allowed to purchase files on behalf of my employer under their account.

I have tried very hard not to be rude in forums, but with all the hard work I have put into photography, to be treated this way is annoying. Also I cannot be responsible for the closure of my company's account.

Does any body have any advice? (appart from lobo whos advice is close one account) not an option unless I am happy to give up all my hard work as a contributer.

If it's so bad why not give up exclusivity and joinn all the other sites out there? Everyone here is always saying how much better than IS they are.

earnings, ease of upload.

are you saying that because my earnings are good I have to put up with crap?

The company I work for posted this to Istock:

We can appreciate a lot of work goes into the backend (eh hum!), however, This development should not lead to the dissatisfaction of the end users .

As contributors, you may not be aware that as a business foremost we care not for time wasting, broken searches, reading threads on how to use a site, which should be intuitive in the first instance, site update/excuses and the like.

We care only for our own product and the best possible way to promote our products. We value our customers and do not ask our customers to fix our problems.

As a customer we expect a to receive a reliable service/product. The courtesy we have shown by mentioning "bugs" should be gratefully received and not be "allowed" to be met with abuse.

For the record and the last time:
the required search "safari" returns the required results. Each filter process we go through:
Organise by downloads,
Display 200 images
display photos only
display portrait photos only
etc...

Each of these changes reverts the progress of filtering back to 30 images all vetta/agency making today a cockup!

OSX 10.6.5 Safari 5.0.3

It was met with abuse. We were told we were in the wrong and the thread was locked. A little digging reveals we wern't the only one with problems (we thought it was the new machines we brought as iStock claimed its self not guilty)

Ill make this my grazzing grond from now on, any way I can mach user names her with the good folk at istock (mine is a bit obvious as is jsnover and sjlockie)

A thought I had was to upload to sites which give me a higher royalty, then 6months later or whenever, upload them to the sites which give less comission. Does this work for anyone?

Newbie Discussion / uploading to multiple sites or not?
« on: September 20, 2009, 14:44 »
hi all, this is my first thread here, and I hope you can be of some help

I've started uploading to multiple micro stock sites rather than just the one, hoping to increase income. One site, that will remain anonymous, uses a subscription program, and as a result drives higher downloads, but less income per download.

My question is, (as many of you will have experience), will uploading the same images to rival sites  damage my downloads revenue. ie. My images will be available cheeper else where.

What is your theory on this
