Just had a batch reviewed at Crestock. I dont understand it! All of my bestsellers are rejected with "Does not meet current collection needs". The fun thing is that I have a few images in there that isnt normal stock material. All of the images that are so/so that I almost dont want to upload and has absolutely zero sales across all the other sites got accepted!!! What??? Someone mixed up the accept/reject buttons over there?? I fully inderstand that they now best what it is they need and dont need, I just find it funny... ...and a bit frustrating

Tips and legal considerations
To ensure customer confidence in your images and avoid potential legal problems:
you cannot change the licence type for an image once it is set. you must not submit the same or similar images as different licence types. we may determine the licence type automatically from your answers to some of the annotation questions. to avoid legal issues you must never set a licence as RF (but only as RM with restrictions set for Editorial use only), if it: contains people or domestic buildings without releases. solely features a logo, trademark or copyrighted building - this is a copyright or trademark infringement. Subjects which should never be Royalty Free we may tell you if we feel the licence type you have assigned is inappropriate. you can apply a default licence type to your images.
Poncke>> Thats exactly the place where I quoted from in my post. But again, as I interprete it, it only restricts submitting the same or similar images with different licences at Alamy. Or did I just misunderstand it completeley?!

Hi Guys! I don't think that you guys are wrong or anything, but where do you find the rule that you cant sell the same images with different kind of licensing on different sites? Example: SS: Image1 as RF and Alamy: Image1 as RM? I read a lot on Alamys homepage and these two things is all I could find: 1.Tips and legal considerationsTo ensure customer confidence in your images and avoid potential legal problems: ■you cannot change the licence type for an image once it is set. ■you must not submit the same or similar images as different licence types.2.What if I already work with an agency? Alamys agreement is non-exclusive but obviously you need to check your current agency agreement. If you need to block certain usages for the purposes of rights management we allow you to specify those usages as a restriction. This enables you to maintain the integrity of your image rights whilst exploring new sales opportunities with images that have a good selling history with other agencies. Obviously we are delighted to accept new work so that no restrictions are necessary.I interprete this as that you cant have similar Images as RF and RM at Alamy, but that it would be ok across different sites. Prove me wrong please! Thanks a lot!

Very surprised you got rejected... I was just approved at iS and I think your images is at least at par with mine, probably better!
People here are pretty upset about iS right now, so do try to get approved, but maybe its a good idea to not uploading anything after that and wait and see what happens first!?
GL!

Why not help him out starting his own accounts on the stock sites. Be sure to use referral links from you and you'll get a small amount from all of his sales too...
Hey OLJensa, thanks for the suggestion! Given the legal issues and potential messiness, that seems to be the best option to go with so far. Thanks for the suggestion!
Sure NP. But my advice is to be honest from the start and tell him that you will make some money on his sales, but this wont effect his earnings so it shouldn't be a problem...

I do apologise, I meant no attack. I was just frustrated. Sorry.
Wow, I didnt think that I'd ever see the day when someone apologized in a forum! I am very glad you did and I think it is really generous of you! Youll get a heart from me!

The best would be to get rid of the categories all together. I mean how many buyers actually use them???
But I have to say that BS:s cathegory "guessing" has helped me find the appropriate cathegory a lot of times.

I dont know why you guys decided to jump on me, but I understand that you are angry and frustrated and feel it is ok to pound on a newbie at MSG and in the stock business. But remember I wasnt the one who gave your Images away for free to Google or MS and whatever else they have done! I hope you dont mind me asking how you can possibly think you know anything about me, what I intend to do, what my goals are and how I feel about a union. As I wrote in this thread: http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/who-dun-it/msg292406/#msg292406You can se that I am all for a union and would be among the first to sign up, I even presented the idea that we should ask Yuri to be president to get enough impact. You talk about respect, but you dont even care to read my posts in the two threads you are referring to. In the other thread I wrote the following: I set a goal for myself to be accepted at iStock, and I intend to pursue that goal. If/when I get in, I will evaluate if I should submit more images or not. Hopefully everything will work out for the best with iStock in the future and we can all be happy contributors again.
I thought that MSG was a friendly place where we help each other out and have a nice and polite tone against each other. But I guess I was wrong. You even come down on me for being all smiley and cheerful. Yes, that I am indeed because that is how I am against all human beings, but if that is something you have a problem with I ask you politely to not read any of my posts in the future, cause they to will also be all smiley and cheerful. But I know haters will hate, and there is nothing I can say to change your mind, and you will probably come down on me for this post to. Well, if your goal was to make me sad you succeeded. Really! Congratulations! But if your goal was to make me to not submit my first three to iStock or post critique posts in the iS forum again you have failed, I will never ever give in for haters or bullies. And about my Avatar, which is obviously something you have a problem with too, that is a forum standard Avatar of Cameron Diaz. I like Cameron Diaz. Cameron Diaz will stay. I want to send a big thank you to all you guys that is friendly and helpful and has helped me big time in these threads. Even sent me PM:s with images that you succeeded to go to through the submission test with. Amazing. .

I have told you my opinion already (on the other thread)
Hi luissantos! Yes and I am greatful for your suggestions, but I just felt that at least one of those Images had to many problems when viewed at 100%. Might go with the other one though! Thanks!

Oh I forgot it's the Just Do Nothing but complain lobby. Well fine, you can sit and take lower and lower commissions, changes in rank or earned levels, take abusive threats from agencies. And then write messages on forums, which don't even get to the deaf ears.
As long as people continue to be silent victims, nothing will change?
Does that explain it better?
And yes, there's no problem with SS that I see. They pay, they don't cut commissions, they bring in returns and they appear to treat us like artists and humans. I can't say the same for some other sites.
The group, whatever someone wants to call it, union, association, alliance, "whatever" will protect artists and form a united front to deal with things that are wrong with microstock agencies. It's supposed to bring positive change, not just be a bunch of angry thugs, making unreasonable demands.
<snip>
You don't meet our standards for rights, commissions, and treatment or you don't get any photos or images. Nice big carrot. <snip>
Why would I, as a contributor, join... or more to the point why would I as Shutter Stock care....unless you have a major portion of contributors on side you are doomed to failure.
I would like to see some type of organization but it has to serve a purpose...
Glenn
+1 This is a great idea. To get a lot of microstock artists to join you'll need a bigshot as "president". What about Yuri, can we get him interested?

Hi Jens,
I am a newbie too and just like you acceptance as an IS contributor is my main goal. I have been accepted at DT & Fotolia (waiting for ss, Alamy, etc) but I regard IS as having the highest standards. I've been rejected once already for "too similar images" but I know that the real reason is that I don't have any people shots in the initial submission. My daughters will be my models for this project soon.
Your stuffs really good, in my humble opinion. Best of luck!
Cheers, Rodney
Thanks Rodney! And good luck to you too. And thanks for your kind words about my work . Still have a lot to learn and a long way to go though, but that is just part of the fun!

Once again, thanks! I set a goal for myself to be accepted at iStock, and I intend to pursue that goal. If/when I get in, I will evaluate if I should submit more images or not. Hopefully everything will work out for the best with iStock in the future and we can all be happy contributors again. But anyway, kudos to all of you who spend your valuable time helping me to get there

Thanks all for your help! Invaluable! Will use some other pics I think. If anyone care to lock in my SS portfolio and have a look at what kind of images I could use for the test I'd be reallly happy. Ok, ok I know it is just the thumbnails and that we cant se if it is sharp enough, CA, isolation quality and so on, but I do think you can see if any of these images would be okay in a composition and light standpoint.... http://www.shutterstock.com/gallery-825676p1.html&rid=102Thanks a lot!
