No explanation why they need more and more time, no respect for their own deadline. I guess they will start to pay us as IS / Getty, if not latter.

In that case I will also treat them the same way (not uploading anymore).

From their announcement:

"When will I be paid?

Similarly to Photos Unlimited royalties, you will be paid a few days after the end of each calendar month."

Well, I got my payment a few days ago. Didnt have to ask for it.

Good for you, but it doesn't mean the problem is non-existing, since so many people are complaining. It's not about the payment (of course you don't have to ask for it, it's automatic) but about earnings that are not cleared for many many months.

It sounds like they are going to hang on to contributors money as long as they can, and that means until you question it or complain about it.  >:(

For me questioning/complaining didn't help either. In 2 months I'll be preparing a birthday cake for my uncleared earnings...

Yes, that's old news. I was asking what happens if they don't deliver the stats by May 15th, the deadline that they've set up for themselves.

I think we all know the answer to that - nothing will happen. We will wait until the next day and then the next day.

Why do they use the phrasing like "by May, 15th at the latest" if "at the latest" doesn't mean anything? Surely these agencies could be made accountable for their promises somehow?

I'd say let's give them the benefit of the doubt, we can complain after the 15th, if nothing happens.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Anyone still submit vectors to SS?
« on: April 24, 2020, 16:23 »
Hi,

I do submit every now and then. As my drawings are pretty simple with no effects, the size is a couple of MB usually, sometimes under 1MB. So I don't really have a solution for reducing size, I guess it depends on the type of vectors you do.

I don't exactly understand what you mean by submitting artboards.. AFAIK you should have 1 artboard in the file you are uploading.

For me it's worth it. But that again depends on multiple factors. It's annoying the extra work of changing the size/adding the metadata, but it takes 2 minutes.

Same here, just recived my paypal payment from canva and NO EXTRA PAYMENT !!!!!

Okay payment just received into PayPal.  No email from Canva, and no 'extra' payment.

The "extra payment" you will get next month (may), it says in the e-mail.

Thanks for the feedback for everyone. So it seems like it's just the usual "exciting news".
BTW, my March subscription is 0, so that will be really easy to double, thank you canva...
It's sad, 'cause I used to like them.

Sorry guys, but I really think they talk about subscription revenue only, and MARCH subscriptions have not been published yet !

I hope it's not, but possible. I think we might need some clarification. For me it seems it is about all revenue.. but let's wait and find out. Subscriptions for me are sometimes 0, sometimes less then 1% of all my revenue, so I guess even worse luck haha.

what I am not sure of: is it always the march 2020 earnings they double, or?

Yes from what I read is they count on March earnings and guarantee double. Really a good thing for me... but I'm waiting to see :)

Thanks!
For me March is a bit below average, but that's just my bad luck  :(

not exactly, as i understand:

"while subscribers will be able to use all premium content as part of their subscription, this will be in the Canva editor - no direct downloads will be allowed (except for users who pay separately for Multi Use licenses, Extended Use licenses or a Photos Unlimited subscription)."

and

"Can Canva subscription users download my assets?

No. They may only use them within the Canva editor."

Still, it sounds too good to me too, that is why I posted here, to see what others think about it.

This is a subscription with which a customer can use ALL your images for a monthly subscription.
Similar to hyperstock. https://www.microstockgroup.com/pond5/hyperstock
And you are happy with that..

I got this today from Canva. What do you think about this? I am curious.

"Thank you for being one of our valued content contributors - you help make Canva ever more special. Today, we are very excited to announce some changes to our contributor program which will increase your earnings by 2X for the next 6 months, and put your wonderful content in the hands of even more Canva users, for use on the platform.

Whats changing?
Ever since we introduced Canva Pro, one of the top pieces of feedback weve received from our users is that they want to have access to all the paid content on Canva. In order to make this happen, were going to include all premium content in our Canva subscriptions for use within Canva. At the same time, to make sure you are fairly compensated for your work, we are allocating a percentage of Canvas subscription revenue to a new royalty pool that will be paid to contributors like you every time your content gets used as part of our subscriptions.

What will happen to my earnings?
The current royalty pool is $9.5 million USD on an annualised basis and importantly, it will continue to grow proportionally as Canvas subscription revenue grows. Every time a Canva subscriber uses one of your assets, youll earn a share of the royalty pool, paid to you shortly after the end of each calendar month.

We are confident this will substantially increase your earnings. So confident, that were guaranteeing* your earnings will double in the first 6 months, or well pay you the difference!

Example:

Your March earnings

Your April earnings

$200

$400+ guaranteed*

*Guarantee only applies if you do not remove any photos or elements from your portfolio. During the guarantee period, your total earnings will be at least double your March 2020 earnings, or your actual earnings for the month; whichever is higher. The guarantee period lasts for six months (Apr 2020 to Oct 2020).

Can anyone use my content now?
No. Canva users that are not on a subscription will continue to have to pay for a license to use your content in their designs, just like they have before. The royalties you earn for those uses will not change and will continue to be paid out to you as normal.

Additionally, while subscribers will be able to use all premium content as part of their subscription, this will be in the Canva editor - no direct downloads will be allowed (except for users who pay separately for Multi Use licenses, Extended Use licenses or a Photos Unlimited subscription).

Can I opt-out of this initiative?
Of course! We truly believe that this change will be better for both our users and our contributors, but as you know, under our Contributor Terms, you are free to withdraw your stock media from the Contributor program at any time by reaching out to us through the contributor support form.

However, please note that because we will be making our entire content library available to our subscribers, it will unfortunately not be possible to opt-out of this initiative only - you will be required to opt-out of the contributor program entirely. Keep in mind that if you stay, your total earnings are guaranteed to double for six months, and we expect your actual earnings will be higher and continue to grow over time.

If you have any questions, reply to this email or reach out to us through the contributor support form, we are here to help.

Sincerely,
Canva Team

Frequently asked questions

What action do I need to take?

You do not need to take any action. All contributors will automatically qualify for the double earnings guarantee (subject to its condition of no content being removed from your portfolio), and this will be reflected in your payouts.

How will the royalty pool grow with Canva subscription revenue?

The royalty pool will grow proportionally with Canva subscription revenue, including from Canva Pro and Canva for Enterprise.

Do I still earn from license sales and Photos Unlimited?

Yes, you will continue to receive earnings for a-la-carte license sales by Canvas free users, as well as revenue from existing Photos Unlimited subscribers. This is an additional revenue stream for you.

Can Canva subscription users download my assets?

No. They may only use them within the Canva editor.

Can I opt-out of this program?

Yes, but because we will be making our entire content library available to our subscribers, it will unfortunately not be possible to opt-out of this initiative only - you will be required to opt-out of the contributor program entirely.

If youd like to opt-out of our contributor program, please contact us through the contributor support form. Keep in mind that if you stay, your total earnings are guaranteed to double for six months, and your actual earnings may be even higher and continue to grow over time.

Will my earnings drop after the guarantee period?

We expect your actual earnings to exceed the guarantee, especially by the end of the guarantee period and that your earnings will continue to grow over time. The royalty pool will increase with Canvas subscription growth.

Can I see my earnings in real time?

As we calculate usages and royalties on a monthly basis, youll get these numbers a few days after each calendar month.

When will I be paid?

Similarly to Photos Unlimited royalties, you will be paid a few days after the end of each calendar month.

How do I maximise my earnings?

The more your content is used on Canva by Pro users, the more you will earn. To maximise your earnings, we suggest uploading your best content to Canva.

Remember: Canva Pro users cannot download your assets; users have to pay $10 for a multi-use license to download your assets."

I have uncleared earnings since july 2019. I have already e-mailed them, but the reply seemed a bit annoyed, saying they are aware of this, and as soon as they receive the payment...  This was almost 2 months ago. Still nothing happened. :(
In a previous case my earnings were cleared after 1.5 years. Very disappointing.

Adobe Stock / Re: How to convert credit to euro?
« on: August 29, 2019, 16:05 »
I registered in the US and somehow my currency got set to British pounds, no idea how.  I have asked to change it to dollars many times but they say it is impossible, even though you'd think it would be an easy change to make.  Very frustrating.

if 1 credit also equals 1 pound (=$1.22) you should be happy about it.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Creative Cloud Bonus Program
« on: August 18, 2019, 04:59 »
Hey Mat,

I'm also confused. Can you please help me with this:

I've received the "Creative Cloud Bonus" code last year. I haven't activated the code yet. I tried to activate it now and it says it's expired.

But here is the email I've received from Adobe:

"Dear -------,

Last August the Adobe Stock team launched a Creative Cloud giveaway program to reward our top contributors. Congratulations, you are one of them!
You were awarded a 12 month free Creative Cloud subscription, and received an email from [email protected] with your redemption code. We noticed that you havent redeemed the code yet to start your free access to Lightroom CC, Photoshop CC, and more.
In case you overlooked the previous email, your code is -----. You have until July 2021 to redeem it. ..."

So as stated in this email I've received from you, the code should still be valid.

Can you please help me with this?

Thanks!

I do, more precisely I'd say, stock is the only work that I do for money, but my living costs are super small.

144
Please  correct me if I am wrong, but as I read SS TOS, the Standard Image License does not include the right to resale on physical products. What do you think? I am not even sure the EL covers this usage.

https://www.vectorstock.com/account  UPDATE TAB  > Preview Watermarking [ ON / OFF ]

Thanks Zsofi I just enabled watermarking too. I rarely visit their site so I didn't even notice.

You're welcome. I didn't notice either until this post.
Long time no "see" :).

146
I just got answer from support, here it is. So no need to worry :)

"There is an option to turn the Watermarks On or Off in your account,

https://www.vectorstock.com/account  UPDATE TAB  > Preview Watermarking [ ON / OFF ]

Please allow 24 hours for the Watermarks to updated,

We have given the options as many other stock site are now using better quality images without Watermarks and a number of contributors wanted this option. The image without watermarks also receive more paid downloads.

Apologies for the confusion"

147
I just noticed that Vectorstock changed, they now offer a responsive website and show VERY LARGE images at 1500 x 1500 with a screenshot on my 4k screen. Also the image preview offer NO WATERMARK: see this image for example (not mine): https://www.vectorstock.com/royalty-free-vector/super-hero-bubble-tea-character-cartoon-vector-21279714 or preview: https://cdn5.vectorstock.com/i/1000x1000/97/14/super-hero-bubble-tea-character-cartoon-vector-21279714.jpg. First off for web anyone can steal this as 1500x1500 or 1000x1000 at high quality is more than sufficient. Secondly anyone with illustrator can convert it to vector in 3 clicks... Why would agencies do that? Am I the only one who thinks this is abusive?

I am seriously considering removing my portfolio from there.

Hi,

Thank you for this information!
You are not alone, I also think it is very problematic, and it might be better to delete my port there. I just wrote to support about it.
I will let you know what their answer is.

Canva / Re: Canva - did I miss something?
« on: July 02, 2019, 16:35 »
I have single uses mainly $1, some 90c and a few $1.40 - for which I got paid 35c each. Then I have (had!!!) multi use ones $10, I got $3.50. Nothing else....

If I were you, I would write to them and ask. They do at least have a fairly responsive support team....

The $1.40 sales with 35c payout I guess shows they aren't doing 35% anymore. Did they announce anything about this?

My understanding was that this was for a non dollar currency and the value was approximately one dollar so we still get .35 (I only read that somewhere, and can not vouch for it being actually true)

In other news it has been months since I got anything more than .35 per sale although last year I got a fair number of 3.50 and even a few $35 sales. My old reliable sellers have only sold a few times this month (as opposed to nearly every day in the past) and the images that were part of a pre-made image haven't sold at all this month and the last one was May 5th.

They confirmed this to me by email a while back.

I had this 1.40 sale last year so I asked, and that's what they replied:

"If you are seeing 1.40 on your sales, that is roughly the converted amount of $1 USD to AUD (Australian Dollar). Note that royalties are still based on the USD license purchase. That's why it looks like you are "not getting" 35% of 1.40. Don't worry as the all your sales are still recorded and paid to you based on USD pricing.""

149
I also got this letter with the "Let's see what you're working on". I wanted to answer with "working in the garden" but I am not sure they are interested in my veggies  ;D

I wish they'd change it back.
