my highest for a single & other was 149,50, about 2 years ago. I wish I had one of those every month. Never happened since...

Does anyone know why in my statement it says "exclusive" in the column for exclusivity? Did I forget to tick something somewhere during the transition? :o

Me too and dont know why

I think it's just another of their eff ups.

Mine says Exclusive as well, but (a) the rate shown is 15% and (b) last month's said Non-Exclusive, so I think they know my status and just made an error in preparing the statements

Ok, so it's not just me. I was already imagining how they sue me about this  ;D

Hi,

It works for me. Sales are rare, as always.

205
After SS and FT for me is 123RF (closely followed by DT).
About iS I have no idea, and I stopped uploading there since summer of last year.

I only use IS when I have problems with my too low blood-pressure, I just read one of their e-mails, and I am as good as new : ;D

Actually, february 4, 2017 I have not received the email for registering at ESP. >:(

Don't be sad / mad. There is nothing to see there :(

I just love how they finish their e-mail:

"We hope you enjoy ESP!"

Do you?

Yeah... well I've pretty much stopped uploading to any micros because of stuff like this. I'm having better results elsewhere.

To you illustrators that have been around for a while. (say 2012 or earlier) Just wondering... if you are still uploading new images is it because you find that it is still worth it or because you don't have any better options?

I am around since 2009 and still uploading. My earnings are a bit lower than previous years, but I really love to do this (draw whatever I like, not what is imposed). It is not my only income, sometimes I do custom works (but those clients also come through to microstock).

Where else are you having better results if you don't mind me asking?

I can only see one image of a sunrise in this port. For a moment I thought maybe it is his/her only original image, but I was wrong, it is also a stolen image:

It happened to me too lately, but I really don't think it is for all vectors (after that batch I submitted an other vector and they did not ask for anything).
Perhaps it is just a new reviewer for vectors.

hey all
i want to know how many vector files should i have to make at least $100 per month ?

One is enough. But it has to be a good one.

Is it possible to have a link to that one image that brings you 100/month?

I don't mean to be rude, but I had some copycats recreating that image, so no, I won't put a link. (I am not saying it will be you, can be just anyone reading this).

It is nothing special about it though, I think it was just uploaded in the right time (without planning it) and then made it to popular - first or second for some keywords, and it is still there. Now it does not sell so much, but still sells everyday.

And the reason I think others outdo that for sure: this vector never made it to most popular vectors (regardless of keywords).

I am talking about shutterstock BTW.

I just had a look at your wonderful portfolio on SS, great stuff!.... and I think you might be a bit of a Maru fan.....!? :)

Thank you so much for your nice words. What is Maru?

OK, I just googled it. It's a cat :). Well I am a fan of all cats I guess.

It is just luck. My bestseller at FT has made bugger all elsewhere whilst others in the same batch have sold well on IS and SS. My bestsellers there have sold little on FT. Before Istock messed up the site and removed the totals I was amazed to find that one image had earned $200 there and had about 400 sales in 6 months when it hadn't even earned $100 everywhere else combined. Timing, as hard as it is to predict is important but getting an image popular seems like pure chance. I've tried to create similar images to some of my popular ones and they've never managed to come remotely close to the originals. It's one of the reasons not being exclusive is so important I think.

I agree. Different sites, different images that sell.
My best seller on DT is so old and bad that I am ashamed to show it :)). I made it when I discovered the rotate tool in Corel Draw LOL.

However uploading a hundred colour variants of basic images that anyone could modify from the original in 30 seconds is not a sensible strategy and it's only going to lower that baseline estimate for you. It's one of the reasons I've never bothered getting into creating vectors. I can't compete with others without compromising my integrity. If I do colour variants of rasters it's because it would take the buyer enough time and enough knowledge of the software to modify that it is justified but if it is just a simple vector I think you're better off sticking to a black and white version and one, maybe two colour variants... not two dozen. That only results in dividing your sales and ensuring nothing will ever become popular. A handful of popular images can earn more in a year than a thousand other images...

Although, they probably haven't got just one image... they'll have a bunch of images, but one or more of them make $100 a month.

This is how I meant.. But for sure it is possible. I am not that successful, but still I have one vector that made 100$ a month for almost 3 years. I imagine people with really popular vectors outdo that easily.

Anyways, the original question was not so good (that is why I responded like this) because it is not about how many files, but what quality and what is the demand etc. - and that is hard to quantify.

Adobe Stock / Re: 23 cent sales in January
« on: January 08, 2017, 13:39 »
I'm getting 0,21 sales as well.

Apparently, Adobe doesn't feel the need to inform their contributors that tax forms have expired and simply withhold taxes without notice? Can I claim back these taxes?

I got warning messages from Adobe about expired tax form, with every message about my file being sold, until I submitted the new tax form.

I found the forum, but couldn't find the thread that contains info about where can I check my earnings.
Sorry, I don't get it, what is the big secret? Why people who have this link can not just post it here?

Thank you, some people seem to like to post how it's over there but send us chasing years of old threads or subjects that are not what we want. I'm making a guess that this is it. Says nothing new will be reported on the old system.

You will remember we had to sign not to quote posts on the new forum and I'm presuming that also means not sharing links.

I was asking for a link to see my earnings, not a something that is in the forums (which I know is forbidden to post). Thank you anyways.

Why everything so complicated at istock, beats me. Sometimes I feel like in a maze when navigating that site  :D

I have a similar problem but slighlty different..the automatic payout is not working to me and my money are still on IS from two months...ok they're growing sensibly but is like i cannot go to the ATM and withdraw my money   :o hahahah

In my case it was the tax interview - which apparently expired and I had to submit again - they said I will get my payment in the next round (as I understood).
It is here: http://www.istockphoto.com/tax-interview/start in case you want to check yours.

So does this mean we have to resubmit our tax information every year?

I didn't say that. I don't remember when was the last time I submitted tax form, but maybe 2 years ago. They warn you in an e-mail when it's expired. And perhaps you can also see that is expired, when you go to complete it (this I am not sure about).

« on: December 19, 2016, 09:29 »
Because everything changes randomly (search, new images missing and other technical problems) I just stopped caring about these things, and I upload my new files as soon as they are ready.

I don't think I can influence anything with choosing the right time to upload. So might not be the best strategy saleswise, but for sure it is good for my mental health (not stressing too much about it).

Surprisingly I had some sales of the new files I uploaded these days.. So I guess you can never be sure about who buys what and when. My 2012 calendar sells even now, so it is really beyond me to understand buyers.
