I doubt the original artist will see this, I am writing to the first one, so she can file the complaint, maybe others have more time to contact the rest?

LE: I also wrote a message to the third one.

Are you from the future?  ;D ;D ;D

The search is not working for me either, only for "media id" but if you don't have thousands of images you can scroll through the list :).
Please post here if you find a solution.

For deletion I guess you need to contact them, but I am not  sure.

Thank you so much everyone for the recommendations! I will look into them and try them at least for fun.

I know how to do them my self. But I've only uploaded some pretty simple ones, since I don't have the right graphics and probably sound card for more elaborate animations.

Then again I never bothered to make any more or upload simple animations to SS since they really weren't profitable for me any how. Probably most stock places want more elaborate looking ones anyways.

Free or cheep software is not too much of a problem to find. Set up is no problem these days either. Fairly easy to put together yourself.  :)

Can you recommend a free software that can create animations suitable for stock? I would give it another try if I find the right tools. Thanks!

Only two animations and you sold one. I guess you should upload more.

I guess the animation is the Merry Christmas text? What software did you use?

Who is into 2D animation? How many animation videos do you have? Are you earning regularly?

I just need inspiration if you guys are doing good with animation. I currently have 16 videos, and 8 of them are animations. I have had these videos since 2016. I halted my animation uploads, because I lack the motivation because it's still not earning a single cent.

I only tried it for fun, I did 2 of them, one of them sold once on Adobe. I am also curious about other people's experience. I guess it depends a lot on the topic / quality as with photos or illustrations.

Actually the one sold was the other one with the sweet dreams. I used a really old Adobe Flash (I wrote the text, deleted parts frame by frame, reversed the frames and exported to JPGs, imported to PS and exported the movie). It's quite a lot of work, I would only do more if I had a better computer and some more advanced program for this. But since shutterstock's move, I don't see that happening any time soon :).
Can I see your animations somewhere?

Do Canva actually answer their contact forms .... ????

They answered me now, my question from August 31, about payment. Ok, they did not really answer, but replied. Reading the first sentence made me burst out laughing.

"Hi there, we haven't heard from you in a while. If you would like to keep this request open or if you would like additional information, just reply.

Otherwise, this issue will be closed on our side in 2 days. Feel free to open another request if you run into another issue!"

Same. But no explanation for the skipping one month.

Subscription royalties still pending in my account for this month. Weird stuff is going on. What's their explanation? I have received zero communication from them...

I started to write on their FB page, and at least they replied that they'll look into it. They still did not do that, so I am going to continue and write them on public forums, otherwise they totally ignore my questions. I recommend you do the same it might help.

No, I havent got the payment for July yet. I have still more then 100 USD in my balance, but I think, that the payment will be proccesed in half of September.

What makes you think that?

I just found this portfolio: https://www.shutterstock.com/g/lazaralinsilviu
It looked suspicious so I checked random 5 images, they were all on pixabay (under different authors). I wonder were he gets the videos from..
I think SS does not care at all, there are I think hundreds of "contributors" like this.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Digital downloads on Etsy
« on: August 07, 2020, 14:00 »
I contacted a seller yesterday who was reselling some derivatives of my vector work. I said it's not permitted to (re)sell (altered versions of) my work, even with a license. She said she did buy an RF license but misread the terms. She apologized and removed the items from her shop.

Bottom line: if you ever find your items on Etsy, try contacting the shop owner and politely but sternly explain the situation. That might be more effective than contacting Etsy with a DMCA.

It's a mixed bag.

Some people will take it down. Some people gave me a hard time, asking for evidence of ownership or copyright. Some people think they own the artwork because they made slight changes to it. Some people just refuse to take it down. The people who refused to take it down forced me to file DMCA take down notices. Even then, some of them file counter claims and gave fake contact information (Shop in US, but their address is some random place in Europe).

I've gotten tired of contacting the shop owners. It's a waste of my time. Nowadays, I just file take DMCA take notices and let Etsy sort them out.

+1

I also find the DMCA notice the easier way. I used to contact them, but their response was almost always very annoying, most of them telling me they work with third party designers, and when I ask for the designer's name, they can never find it, he is not answering etc. It's probably the answer they think frees them from any responsibility.

Minimum is 10 cents, which means if some big buyer has a deal and pays, 25c an image, instead of us getting .075 we get 10c. No that's not anything to cheer about, but that also means SS is paying us more than our true commission when a buyer gets a extremely low price for images.

In most cases this is not true. Don't forget that most clients do not download all images in their subs-plan, but SS pays us % only of the downloaded images. They keep 100% for the ones the buyer did not download.

It's difficult for me to understand how some buyer would pay less than 25c a download or use, so that people on level 6 are still getting only 10c commission. But that's what the numbers say? I think there's some Facebook deal where they use images for advertising and pay on a contract, which could be lower than 25 a use, we'll all get 10c a use for those.

Very simple: image pack with 9000 downloads for $1999 (=0.22 per image).

How much is your time and effort worth to make JPEGs that meet the size requirements?

Literally 0 effort, since I have them already keyworded and saved in a size big enough for requirements.

« on: July 11, 2020, 05:54 »
I have been busy uploading jpgs of my vectors as separate images.  They insist on generating their own jpg previews for vectors, and they look awful.  So, for the sake of jpg sales, I'm uploading them separately.

Sorry, I know this thread is old, but I have a question: Can you do that? Upload JPG version of already accepted vectors? Did they accept your JPGs? I would also like to do that as prices for vectors are 5-36 (!) times less than JPG illustations. Does not make any sense, but that's how it is. :(

I have just applied to become an "image" contributor. If I get accepted, I'll delete all vectors and upload JPG instead. Waiting time is 3 weeks :(

I've sent an email to Alamy with this question, what their reasoning behind the discrepancy is. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 they're understaffed so I don't expect a reply soon.

I also got the same reply, and posted the question in their forum.
I don't think they will ever reply, in my understanding:
"Temporarily, were unlikely to be able to answer your email due to a reduction in team size whilst we respond to the global Covid-19 pandemic."

I have no experience of selling vectors via Alamy and I don't know anyone who does.

But I will caution you that at least for photos, the price on Alamy's page and the real price paid are very seldom the same, by a considerable margin.
It's all about the discount the buyer has negotiated.

Thanks.
Most of my sales correspond to the price shown here (unfortunately), so that's not the problem (I mean it is, but not for me). Do you get $9.99 or lower downloads for images? (I am talking about sales price, so ~$4 comission)

Yes I do, I get some lower partner sales. I have no idea what a price is supposed to be on Alamy.

Never sold a vector, I have roughly 200 illustrations 191 are jpegs, one sale: Country: Worldwide
Usage: Personal use, Personal prints, cards and gifts. Non-commercial use only, not for resale. $19.99

My 20 best selling images on SS, including some illustrations, not one has ever sold on Alamy. Some of the same images, have sales on Adobe and IS over the years.

Alamy is a nice 40% when something sells, or 50% for some of mine, but don't count on many sales, or the same things that sell on Microstock. Just like I sell different subjects and images on Adobe.

Everyone is different, maybe you'l ldo better? I'm not an original art illustrator like you.

Maybe it's time to replace my vectors. 19.99 sounds twice as better than 9.99.

Vectors might be more desirable than jpgs versions. A photo is a photo, but a rasterized vector is basically less useful than the vector itself.

The pricing discrepancy is odd, I agree. But if vectors are more in demand than their jpg versions, it's better to sell the vectors.

I have no idea if vectors sell better or not (I only have vectors so I can not compare). But also crosses my mind that maybe the demand for vectors is not 5-36 times bigger than demand for JPG. That's why I am thinking of the replacement.
I'm just waiting for some more feedback.

Looking at the RF image license prices a vector file costs 5 times less than the smallest JPG and 36 times less than the XXLarge JPG (that can be easily created from the vector file with a free software). So now I am wondering: should I replace my vector files with large JPGs?

What do you think? Any advice appreciated.
