No restrictions, buyer is responsible for knowing how they can use the image when buying from Alamy

Really? Is it not up to the contributor choose restriction?? So why Alamy let us choose them?

52
What restrictions do you apply when selling travel photos as RM? Do you let only editorial usage or also other kind of usages?

The problem is that often I'm in doubt and I don't know what to do if there is a non recognizable person, a vehicle, a modern building or anything similar in the picture.
When I'm in doubt I always allow only editorial usage, but maybe I can set less restrictions that I don't know of.

What you usually do?

General - Stock Video / Re: Which smaller sites are worth it?
« on: April 04, 2013, 06:38 »
Actually I've submitted some videos to SS, Pond5, Fotolia, Depositpotos and 123RF.
At SS and Pond5 I have regular sales. Just a couple at Fotollia. And none at Depositphotos and 123rf. But my footage portfolio is still small...
Anyway I just subscribed to Revostock, Clipdealer and Clipcanvas too see how they perform

Thx! But have you decided this because the video quality is better with PhotoJPEG or because of other reasons?

Is it safe to export my videos with h264 codec?

I submit videos to Pond5, Shutterstock, Fotolia, 123Rf and Depositphotos and I'm not sure if they all accept h264 codec and for some of them I can't find reliable info online. Until now I've used PhotoJPEG and never had a problem, but now I want to save some space on my hd ;) Is it worth it or is it better to stick with PhotoJPEG?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 Rating as Mid Tier
« on: November 07, 2012, 12:18 »
This is a video I had set at 10$ that sold a few times (now I've increased it at 16$ and see how it goes)
http://www.pond5.com/stock-footage/11096113/

It's really simple, nothing special. Do you think that it's fair to set the price higher?

actually, before setting the prices I've searched for images and videos similar to mine and I set the value on the average price of what I've found on Pond5

I have 25 videos priced between 10$ and 30$ and almost 200 images at 4.5$.

So far I've sold 7 videos and I've been contributing since march 2012.

check those 2 videos:

how to create tempalte products:
Zazzle - template how to

how to use the template to create multiple products at once:
Zazzle - quick create how to

Hope it helps ;)

you can insert space separated keywords. the limit is 40, and the first 10 are somewhat more important than the others

I find more time consuming the keywording process on Alamy

61
Anyway I think that once you've created your template products, adding new ones is a pretty straight forward task...

Yeah. Except for one tiny detail - keywords.  I have maybe 100 photos I'd like to sell as cards, bags, tees; but Zazzle doesn't read IPTC keywords.  No problem, I'll just pound them all in.  All. Over. Again.  Not.

Not a problem for me... just a CTRL+C / CTRL+V from Lightroom and I've set the keywords for all the products I'm creating with the same image

Thanks to all ;)

I've finally decided that I will create different stores for different niches. The first one is gonna be ready next week (apparently during weekend they are not processing products made with "quick create".

Now there are just a handful of test products: http://www.zazzle.com/artisticfractal

Print on Demand Forum / Zazzlers: do you have one or more stores?
« on: November 04, 2012, 04:58 »
I was starting to look into Zazzle and see if I can make some money on it with my fractals and other illustrations.

I was just wondering: do you have just one big store with categories or you set up different stores for each of your niche?
I can't decide which solution could be better from a customer point of view, but also from a product management point of view...

66
I just rely on the Stats page at iStock to accurately record my sales and earnings. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Do you have sales on at iStock? :)

BME also for me!
+40% compared to September.

More than 50% of the income is from Shutterstock (BME).
Followed by Fotolia (BME), 123rf (BME), Photodune, Depositphoto (BME), Pond5, Veer (BME), Dreamstime, CanStockPhoto, GL Stock Images (BME), Stockfresh and Alamy.

68
I have an excel file but it's very unprofessional, for each agency I just keep track of the revenue and portfolio size for each month.

How do you keep track of your stats? Excel spreadsheet? Access? Some software?

[...]If you don't learn from the past... Each 2 Windows version are SCRAP![...]

lol, now that you make me think about it, that's true! haha!

70
well... I'm just a little bit scared... remembering what Windows Vista was like... I hope that MS won't do that mistake again ;)

before Windows 7 I was still running Windows XP, and I upgraded to 7 only after 5 or 6 months since it's launch

71
I'm a happy user of Windows 7 pro 64bit, but I'm about to buy a new laptop and I've noticed that somewere I can already select Windows 8 as main OS.

Should I updgrade now or wait a little bit more to have a more stable and more tested OS?
Are you planning to upgrade to Windows 8? Why?

72
I want to use as a travel camera and I really don't want to worry about rain and dust... so probably the Olympus will be the right choice, even if it's a little bit bigger and heavier than the others.. maybe I can save some weight and size with smaller lenses of the m43 system

73
I'm really tempted by the Olympus E-M5! What lenses do you have? Are you able to submit to all major microstock website and Alamy?

"The quality as as good as a Canon 7D or quite as good as 5D Mark II." maybe this is a little bit too much, but anyway I love the body, and I was just concerned about picture quality for microstock.

Have you tried also shooting some videos?

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 review times for illustration?

same for me...

75
I'm a owner of a Sony A700 with some good lenses and a Sony NEX5 with the kit lens but I'm not happy.

The A700 is too big and heavy, and the lenses too, and I can't stand the lack of an OVF/EVF on the Nex 5 (plus the kit lens is not so good). SO I want to sell it all and buy a good mirrorless body with a couple of lenses (I'm considering also primes). (or a good apsc sized compact camera?)

Key factor I'm looking foor:
- small and lightweight
- built like a tank (it's gonna be a travel camera also)
- good image quality (at least to be able to submit to micro/macrostock websites)
- good manual controls

I need help choosing the right camera, so there are the pros and cons I've found so far on the cameras I like. What are your pros and cons of those camera? Do you have any other camera to suggest? Price is not really an issue (ok... maybe I can't afford a Leica  )
I'm trying to stick to their lenses, because I don't want to use a converter (another piece of crap to carry around, and it adds weight and size)

Olympus OM-D EM-5 + 17mm f/2.8 + 45mm f/1.8
Pros:
- i like the design
- small and lightweight
- weather resistant (good while I'm traveling - big pro)
- best price of the three

Cons:
- image quality (?) due to a smaller sensor

Fujy X-Pro1 + 18mm f/2 + 35mm f/1.4 (how is the 18-55?)
Pros:
- i really like the design
- image quality

Cons:
- expensive
- slower autofocus (?)
- a little bit bigger

Sony Alpha Nex-7 + 15mm f/2.8 + 50mm f/1.8
Pros:
- image quality
- reasonable price

Cons:
-don't really like the design

Should I also consider the Sony Nex-6 and the Fuji X-E1?
