We sold our house in Stockholm few years back and bought quite a large farm in the country, horses, etc, and my wife runs a kennel, breeds of Borzoi sighthounds and Dachshounds, Im actually racing the Sighthounds, one of my hobbies. Im spending part of next year getting more into the country-life. Its tough because Im really a city person, lived in London, NY and Stockholm for more then 30 years.
Im definetly NOT gonna sit and worry about Micro stock!!!

We moved out to the country 5 years ago.  It took me a bit to get used to it as it was super quiet.  No annoying neighbors bugging you for stupid stuff.  No one getting in your business.  First night we were here it was so quiet in the house that I heard coyotes or wolves (I forget which one) howling and barking and I'm like what was that?  The only thing that sucks about it is that town is like 10 miles from here the next town over is like 13 miles and takes some time to get to depending on the weather and idiots on the road.  I wouldn't trade it back to live in a city again.  I enjoy my peace and quiet.

Also forgot about some other stuff I'm gonna do this year.  Get a real vegetable garden going as I killed the one we tried to start this past spring.   And possibly do something in the front yard maybe make a gazeebo or something not sure yet.

Our plans are to fully take over the autoglass company my boyfriend's been running since this past July on January 3rd.  He just had our home loan modified so it's a helluva lot less now so we can catch up on our other stuff that we let lag behind.  I don't make enough in micro yet to pay more than my cell bill and internet.

For me I'm planning on doing more photography, getting my teeth fixed and hopefully saving up for a portrait studio kit :)

So lagereek, you never stated what yours were :)

It's not hush hush.  It's because you're asking something like "How do I make my own car?".

1. Figure out what you mean by "stock footage animation" (try google)
2. Buy software that can accommodate that end result
3. Learn software (I'll help - check out the best AE tut site: http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/)
4. Develop concept
5. Animate something to illustrate concept
6. Upload

There is nothing separating "stock footage animation" from any other kind of animation.

I've got AE but it's way before CS so hopefully it'll still work.  And thanks for the link.  I never ran across that site in my Google search from a few weeks ago.  All I could find were tutorials on manipulating digital video which is something I can't do, well, not with the cameras we have that can do video P & S not pretty.

Thanks again,

Anita

"If you could find someone to write an indepth tutorial on how to create stock footage animation that would be very helpful.  I can't find anything doing an internet search and I'm a duck outta water with it."

I know the market is very competitive, as lots of footage seems priced around 20 - 10 dollars. Pro sellers I speak to sell on volume, as they have to compete with all the stock backgrounds and animations dumped my the large corps, big houses who once sold by the disc. Not my area of expertise at all. You might think about going into the forums on some of the stock sites and asking for some direction from sellers. Usually, you'll get a response if your header and question are specific. Good luck!

Everytime I've asked on the sites I'm on it's like this huge guarded secret for some reason.  Very hush, hush very annoying IMO.  Thanks anyway.

Having the same issue with it myself today and I uploaded via the http uploader (vectors as the ftp doesn't support vectors).  Guess I'll keep checking on it every few hours or so.

still waiting......grey hair......

I'm right there with ya.

Apparently not good enough to be accepted right away yet not bad enough to get denied.

Peter, any idea on when those of us that signed up in June would find out about having their applications accepted/rejected?  Getting antsy just a wee bit.

I noticed it yesterday too.  I'm not on facebook anymore so dunno why that keeps popping up at all.  Wonder if there's a way to disable it.  I'm gonna go look.

*edit*

Guess not nothing in the profile linking anything to facebook.  Possibly a glitch.  Haven't had Facebook since May 18th wonder why that started popping up now?

Illustration - General / Re: 3d round head figure - what software
« on: November 29, 2010, 12:38 »
I have see you are asking this kind of questions from some time now. What software to use, what machine, etc.
I wonder, if you dont have any 3d background experience, what makes you think you can just start earning money from this field? Of course you could learn and prectise, but the kind of questions you do makes me feel you think this is like an automatic thing, some magic push the buton and ... voil!!! image done.
Like any field needs practice and knowledge to master and to let you freely express what you are imaginating.

I agree.  I've got Blender and haven't had a chance to learn to use it yet.  There is a steep learning curve that goes on with this definitely not a press a button and *poof* there you are.  I followed a tutorial many months ago for a snowman and I still couldn't get it right so I gave up.  Might be something I'd look into doing next year to expand what I already do with Illustrator but I have to put in the work to learn how to use it.  And I can tell you...it's not easy...well...not for me anyway ;)

I think it was 24 hours from pic no. 10 mill went online.
Makes sense, but of so, they shouldn't have put "NOW" last night, when they had not reached the 10M mark yet.

From what I read on the DT forum last night is that the counter script was for the clock on your own computer.  I just had a sub sale for .35 and can't figure out why (unless partner site sales aren't affected by this).  Just wish that dl I got yesterday for 14 credits would've happened today :D  So far my question about this on DT hasn't been answered and I'm not gonna bug support about it as I'm sure they've got their hands full at the moment.

Dreamstime.com / Re: whats wrong with the Java uploading?
« on: November 22, 2010, 13:29 »
They recently changed how it behaves as far as placing images in there for upload.  I don't like it as it acts like it only wants to upload one at a time.  Don't have anything new to see if it's still like that to test it again.

Unless my Java on my comp changed it...dunno haven't uploaded there in a few days.

The ETA is actually 12 hours  ;D

I've got one in pending with 65 hours.  Don't think it's moved since I looked at it a few hours ago.

I'm waiting ten days - one illustration was approved in ten minutes, rest is still pending.
I'm not sure if pending really means pending or rejected as I see no "rejected" folder.  :-\

I've got some waiting there since September.  Not going to deal with support as they'll just reject them all anyway  :-\  Used to be like every 2 weeks then once a month but this is just getting obnoxious.  I think I am done trying to upload there.  It's a PITA to upload and the preview size is not up to par.

Pending is just that pending not reviewed and not rejected.  They don't have a rejected folder coz once they reject it I'm sure it's deleted from their system.  As far as I know there's no way to delete your own images (haven't really tried either).

They should also lower the minimum payout.  At this rate it's gonna take me 10 years to reach $100.

Fantastic!

Thanks Anita!  ;D

No, thank you :D Going to work on a few designs tonight got my master template all set up.  I'll ask my other questions on your forum :)

Can't wait to get started!

It's nice to see some folks posting in this thread again.

I wanted to pop in and address Anita's question directly:

Photoshop 7 is fine. I have it on one of my laptops and still use it frequently. We use TIFF files and they can be created in multiple programs and any version of Photoshop, as that is a graphics standard, but it just does not work as well if you don't use photoshop and elements does not have CMYK support. However, it seems that a few people have found excellent ways to workaround that issue - which is great.

Hopefully that sufficiently answers your question.

If anyone else has a question, please feel free to ask!

I hope that more of you will give our program a shot - we are still growing in spite of the lousy economy. We have a great group of talented artists and would welcome your creative abilities as well.

Thanks!

Awesome Tim!  I shall now go over and start the application process.  :)  If I have any other questions I won't hesitate to ask :)

Thanks again,

Anita

Are all files that are uploaded there to be psd files?  If so what version of Photoshop.  I ask because my version is way back to PS 7 and may not be what you're after if you need CS or above.  I couldn't find an FAQ to view answers to my question.

If anyone that's on the site as a contributor could answer or if Tim's around I would really appreciate it :)

New Sites - General / Re: vectorstock
« on: November 16, 2010, 16:18 »
Oh forgot about that, and don't they have a lower maximum cap on keywords then the standard 50?
(it's been a while since I uploaded)

Yep they're at 30 maximum keywords which makes it hard sometimes to figure out what words to cut out and which we think are the most important.

Their review process is also a bit of a joke.  I have images in pending there since September.  They've rejected most of the stuff I've given to them and what gets me is that in the rejection email they give a link to the most downloaded image for you to use as a guideline for what they want.  Hello?  How about some diversity.  Most I've gotten there in a month is 14 downloads which I could deal with better if they'd actually spend some time reviewing the files they've got in pending.

And I agree we can't move up if they can't bring the sales.  Had high hopes when I joined in the first part of the year but am very disappointed that it hasn't produced what I thought the site could do.

Flash.

Or After Effects.

But you'd get better answers with a better answer of "what you want to do?" than just "vector animation".

Sorry I had people bothering me this morning and couldn't complete a thought.  All of my Adobe software is out of date.  My After Effects is back to version 5.5 so I'm not sure if that program would be acceptible up to todays standards.  My Flash version is back to Flash 5 (and trapped on a hd I have to cable to get it off of yet).  Stock animation is what I'm after not regular video footage.  Nothing totally complicated just yet something like keyframe animation that I'm sure Illustrator probably can't handle (but I need to learn it's capabilities further before I make this presumption).

I'm not sure what else I should ask since this is a new field for me that I would like to learn about.

I'll probably search the internet later for After Effects tutorials.

Thanks :)

That's what I'm trying to figure out is what software would be good to use for animation.  Vector animation not photo animation.  Can't seem to find any information other than making gifs and that's not what I want to do.  Not sure what software would be good for that.

Video Equipment / Sofware / Technique / Animation footage question
« on: November 12, 2010, 10:35 »
I tried searching the internet the other day but came up with nothing.  I would like to try my hand at animation footage but can't find a tutorial on the subject anywhere.  Would like to find one with information about making it for stock but all I could find were tutorials on how to animate photos for stock which isn't what I was looking for.

Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Anita

Anita,
4 pending here, just uploaded :)
But keep positive!
We might win something (for once!) :)

I've actually been having regular sales there lately nearly every day or so.  But I'm waiting for the bottom to drop out ;)

Working on more now that I don't have any time consuming business paperwork to deal with.

I bet this will also encourage more uploads and maybe it'll happen before Thanksgiving.
