123RF / Re: "Exciting" news from 123rf
« on: August 08, 2022, 20:15 »
I noticed I was auto-opted in to plus when I opened manage content - accepted.  The opt out in account settings / preferences settings is for "future uploads" only.  So I had to opt out twice to avoid the "plus" plan.  Purposely poor communication is a very sleazy way of doing business.  Pondering permanently removing all my content.

I was opted out of deposit photos partner program back when they had a opt out button.  I considering deleting my content there for this.. and a variety of reasons.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy sale for 7 cents

I also started receiving 12 sales despite being opted out of distribution and novel use.  I wrote support to confirm my opt outs.

My images are there too.  They are showing a contributor name I only use at Adobestock.  Partner program perhaps.

The way things like that usually work:

- A site where you have an account was breached (123RF and 500px for instance were breached in the past), and your personal information like name, username, address, password and whatsoever fell into the hands of those who know what to do with it and how to use it. ...

Yes, but the question is how, if I reset the password and log in to my account, that account becomes inaccessible to me again, with a different password? And so 4 times in the last year? If I reset the password via my home email, then how did he get his account back every time?

Malware or spyware in your computer transmitting your keystrokes.. maybe?

Off Topic / Re: Russian photographers should be banned!
« on: February 27, 2022, 07:32 »
A return to a full cold war means cessation of all trade and commerce between opposing blocks of nations.  Putin has factored this in and is prepared to export his energy and commodities to China and unaligned nations.  Photographers and small business owners will find themselves limited to domestic markets.  The image factories will probably find a way to transfer their digital assets and/or accounts to neutral nations.  It's the little guys who always get hurt.

123RF / 4k @ 123rf for 35 credits
« on: February 17, 2022, 07:38 »
Looks like hd and 4k are priced the same.  Is this new?

https://www.123rf.com/stock-footage/

I removed my footage from three other sites to avoid the Pond5 price match.. thinking about doing the same @ 123.

Is there any reason to leave your property at 500px / Visual China Group?  Is there any upside at all?  If not why stay?

Alamy.com / Re: Commission lowered to 20%
« on: May 20, 2021, 20:03 »
Just as I thought 250$ in commission is not a problem for me personally...I had 2 sales for 10 cents each. I never had a 10c sale on Alamy, so maybe 250 will be a challenge after all.

I have not had any sales for less than $3.  I opted out of novel use along time ago.  Perhaps the penny sales are from that.  Are you opted in for novel use?

Note:  I'm currently opted in for distributor sales (but reconsidering) and will drop exclusivity (specialty items) soon.. since I see no upside to continuing with that.

Maybe they intend to populate istock's offerings with newly acquired Unsplash content.  Then increase their profits by skewing the search results towards said content.  Customers need not know the content is also available as creative commons.   Contributors need not be paid because they already gave away all rights.

Visual China Group would be more likely.  They bought Corbis... and distribute for Getty in China.

Opt out from Deposit Partner sites?
I even didnt know, we can do it.

What kind of partners are they? Mostly with very very cheap descriptions and with many free images to get for buyers?

I should opt out, too?

Because any agency, which offers my images for free without my permissions, I want to avoid, if possible.

Not easy these days, if we do not research good enough to find out, on which ways (partners) buyers can get our images for free.

Deposit and 123RF are even the last ones I upload my images - or the first ones for my very bad images LOL

Yay, I just quit, too, on SS still only my worst images are left.

I am still waiting for a reply from Getty/eyeEm and iStock in the case of free images on Promo.com. Depending on their answers, I will delete my accounts there. Well, not really! We need them to delete all the images first and keep our accounts open to be able to investigate, if they are still selling our images without permission - like Yay is doing years after closing accounts.

Free images?
How many times I read here, that all are against uploading images to free stock photos sites! Right! But if the agencies are offering our images for free, where is the difference?
Then I prefer to upload selected images on free stock photo sites on my own instead.

They used to have an opt out button.  Seems to be gone now..  Perhaps contributor support can explain.

New Sites - General / Re: Stockphoto.com?
« on: January 02, 2021, 19:51 »
I guess Stockphoto.com is a reseller for Deposit or Deposit owns this site.

I just deactivate some photos on Deposit and interesting: That photos are also on Stockphot.com and signed as not available right now, please do not download.
Other photos from me have the download link.

So fast signed as not available? I guess Deposit is driving that Stockphot.com not someone else.

I'm not seeing my DepositPhotos material there.  I opted out of the DP partner program.  Maybe it's a "partner" site.

A little something extra.
I use FireFox monitor to monitor my emails for breaches But I'm sure there are many other aps out there that also do this.

I like to cover a little extra bases with this.  ;)

That was new to me.  Looks like a nice tool.  Thanks

Dear all, how do i delete the photos on istock immediately? I cant find any delete button? Thanks

They removed the delete button a few years ago.  You have to write contributor support.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Closing Account of Dreamstime
« on: September 24, 2020, 14:44 »
...Ones reached the payout limit, I will not yet ask for the money! I wait until I reached the double and will ask to pay me the half of it. ...

In general, I would advise against leaving money with any agency once you can collect it.

There's only one place the money is within your control and that's when it's in your bank account. Interest rates are at the moment at historic lows, but more typically, someone will earn money on the balance in your account; I'd rather it be me and not the agency.

Good advice.  Beware of the next Revostock.

Note:  Dreamstime has been reputable for the 11 years I've been there.  No problems at all.

Im magical.

Not so fast :)

I can't test because I'm banned, but can anyone non-magical post? Only Sean's post is newer than Tuesday afternoon at the moment

I checked this morning. I am not banned. When I try to reply, it wont let me type in the reply box. Its filled with gray. PS I am not magical.

I am also grayed out.  If it's because I posted a comment regarding the pay cut... 7 weeks ago... then how very getty of them.

74
Awful.  Deactivation may truly be the best business decision.  I wonder how Blackbox will react?

It's not criminal.. though it may feel criminal.  It's called capitalism and we are free to take our art and leave.  At this point it's best to support and promote companies that support artists.  Sadly my workflow upload list is getting pretty short.
