I think they are worth the effort, plus they pay 60% which is alot more than many of the other sites.  I recieved my first Paypal payment a couple days ago...$77.00  (only two sales so far....but hey...only been a month)

They are putting money where thier mouth is.....I'm sure it will take them some time to take off....but since they are willing to put out some money up front....I'm willing to upload everything I have to them.

I'm not too hip on any of the other new sites....most want to pay us 30%....I have enough of those sites already. I........we...deserve more for our photos and I for one plan to support fully the sites that are willing to pay us what we deserve.

I’ll spend my new effort on Albumo....They are putting their money where their mouth is ....plus...they pay 60% commissions (if your over 1000 images) and they have a clean good web site.  I've been with them for only 1 month and already have enough for payout.....true not a lot of sales yet only 2....but they were willing to fork over money to get me to upload there......and they are willing to give us a good commission.   WHAT is SNAPVILLAGE offering???? NOTHING...

Why support another site that is going to pay us a lousy 30%....

My attitude is quickly becoming to only support the sites that support us......(IS is the one exception...but since they are the biggest...they can get away with it.....for now...but let's see what the future brings...??)

Right now the (non-subscription )sites I would love to see succeed are StockXpert, DT and Albumo ...they all give at least 50% back to us. (LO also has multiple specials that allow 50% on many of the photos…but I would rather see 50% across the board)

(of course I like SS also....but thier marketing model is so different from the others...you can't really compare them.)

I think supporting any more sites that offer anything less than 50%  is like slitting our own throats.

You know what's funny....the photo that was rejected that I originally complained about when I stated this thread................ ......is 3 downloads away from going flame on IS.................so...go figure!!!....it also made the top 50 on SS for about a week.

Most of the photos I get rejected now are also for articacting....usually people on white backgrounds...I have no clue how to fix it.  They look good to me....and to all the other micro sites....but IS sees something...

For the first time ever I had 8 photos rejected by FT out of 15!!!!!!!!!!  I have never had this happen before. they must have a new reviewer or something. I have only had about 50 rejections out of my 2000+ photos submited here...so to get 8 in a row is very strange....I could possibly agree with one of them...but the rest???????????

StockXpert.com / Re: change in stockxpert sales
« on: August 04, 2007, 06:50 »
My have been up a fair amount the last two weeks also. The thing I have noticed about StockXpert is that they are not effected by holidays and weekends as much as some of the other sites. IS drops off about 75% on the weekends and Holidays, but StockXpert keeps pretty steady...normally the weekend and Holiday downloads are less...but not always. I've had a couple weekends that were great with them. It tells me that a Lot more "normal" people are buying from this site rather than just designers.

Overall though.......StockXpert is getting better every week....slowly....but better....I'm now averaging a payout every two weeks from them...so I'm pretty happy. :)

After editing about 50 photos today from a shoot yesterday with 7 different kids.....I am sick and tired of the model release setup at SPX and also IS.  Do you know how many combinations of kids you can get together with 7?????...........alot. that means I have to put together a model release form for each combination!!!!!!!!!!!  ........This is getting sooooooooooo difficult to track the releases and create them every time.......STEVE-OH.........help.............. :-[

I really like SPX, but I am gettting to the point where I am not uploading some of my photos with multiple releases just because it is to time consuming.  For one shoot I could have 20 model release forms to upload and keep track of........ :'(

Please...please please ........can SPX set up a model release system like FT, DT, BS , LO or 123Rf ???

IStock...well.......they just do what they want to do.......heaven forbid they would do something for the photographer to make life easier...... :-\

Not alot...I couldn't find anything in particular that was copyrighted, so I blurred a button on the pants...even though I couldn't see the label at all and I blurred the material on the backpack alittle...but overall it is almost the same photo....there just wasn't anything there to get rid of....maybe the review was just having a bad day.

LuckyOliver.com / Sales are picking up at Lucky "O"
« on: June 28, 2007, 23:24 »
I have to admit that there is no doubt that my sales are beginning to pickup at Lucky Oliver. I have had more sales in June than in all other months combined  :).............and it looks like I will be at payout in a week or so :D.

So...I think in the long run Lucky "O" will pay off for all those who commit to it.  It will be VERY interesting to see what I am saying 12 months from now....hopefully I'll be complaining that I only make payout once a month... :D

Actually I quess it is only 150%......It was several different photos that I put together and then reduced the size to something managable...

the markings on the backpack are a possibility, but the crop they sent doesn't center on the backpack...but rather the feet area.  I removed all the markings off the shoes....

beats me...

The funny thing is they have accepted all the individual pictures already....!! but when I put them together, then theres a problem???? If there were any problems with the picture...it would have been much easier to spot on the full size file.....

I need to vent a little..............I get so Pi##$## off at IS sometimes. They reject photos for the smallest if not non existent reasons. They always say "Can Resubmit"....well that doen't help much when I can only upload 30 a week and have a backlog of over 500 photos to put up.   Here is the latest one.....

first they reject it saying that one of the model releases was wittnessed by me and that was not allowed....well the releases were just fine...it was just that one of them was the old style IS release and the wittness sig block is in a different corner of the paper...they must have just glanced at it and hit the reject botton....well this is a very popular photo on all the other sites...well over 200 DL already in 3 weeks.....so I resubmitted it....result............rejected copyright..........COME ON.... here is the 300% crop they sent me of the problem area.....Do you see any copyright issues...........I sure don't.   This is so frustrating sometimes..... I guess I blur a couple things to change the file size and resubmit for the third time....auuugggggggg......

Well Bryan....I'll be the first to say I agree 100%.   My sales are beginning to pick up slightly...I used to be lucky if I got a couple sales a week :-\....but lately I have been seeing sales on a daily basis. :)....I even sold my first photo from the sideshow yesterday...so that's nice.  I like the sideshow idea...however until sales pick up a little more I don't see the payback exceeding the cost of the service......in a year...probably...but not yet.

As it's been said many times over...I kinda like you guys...I like your fresh approach and the attitude of the staff.....so I'll keep uploading and waiting for things to kick into high gear....

Tom

Boy....after posting on this thread last week and wondering if I'd make the 100 DL's for the free sideshow.......sales have gone wild. I blew by the 100DL Saturday and got another 10 DL's on Sunday...So I time to pick out the images for the sideshow. :)

I hope this is a trend...and not a fluke. I'm sure alot of the photos were bought by the same person since they were all Educational shots that sold on the one day....but maybe they will be back.... hope so...... :D

Tom

The one thing I have been trying hard to get to...is the 100dL's before LO starts charging for the side show feature. It would be nice to get the extra exposure....but with sales as slow as they are right now....I can't see paying for this feature......

How many people have over 100 DL's on LO ???......it can't be too many....maybe a couple dozen.

I think LO should extend this offer for a couple more months at least....as a way of rewarding the people that are contributing many many photos to the site....I scratch your back and you scratch mine.....

I may or may not make the deadline...it will be close..

General - Top Sites / Wow!!! Best Day ever...........
« on: June 09, 2007, 02:13 »
I am really happy today.... I had an enquiry on some exclusive buyouts on Fotolia last week...so I told fotolia I was willing to change my listing with them to exclusive...for a week and if the person bought the photos I would delete the photos as soon as possible from the other sites....if they did not purchase within a week I would change the listings back to non exclusive....well they bought all 3 photos yesterday. :)

And to top it off I had two extended licence sales on IS. One for unlimited copies. :D

So....for one day.....just a couple dollars under $500

I could get used to this ;D

I have to second hospitalera on the shirt. A bright solid colored shirt would be much better....the brown colors just blend into his hair. Also maybe have him enjoying the game...maybe making a face after rolling a bad number or smiling when winning.....Emotion is a good seller...there is no emotion in the photo at all. ...and...Backgammon is a two person game right????? how about a partner?  Seems like a clean photo and I think your on the right track....just need to make the photo say something:)

This was a very helpful tutorial...... thank you very much for all your time and effort in doing these tutorials...I know they take alot of time and effort. I have watched everyone of them...some of them 2 or 3 times just to try to remember how to do it.

There are some many little things that I have never seen before that make such a HUGE difference in photos.

I look forward to more!!!

thanks

Way too much work for me ...for just a few sales.  If they want any of my pics they can search for them themselves.  I do have to admit....the guy is pretty smart to let everybody else do the work. It just takes way too much time to look them all up and then post them.  Not worth my time. I'd rather be taking and editing pictures.
