is there anything in this world for free except breathing?

I'm sorry but I must disappoint you. Here, where I live you have to pay some kind of climatic fee. For example you travel to Tatra Mountains (to take some new photos for micros) and you pay for room or any other tourist service and you have that extra fee in it. Why? Because you breathe the fresh air, really. I was in huge shock when I heard that lately ;) Oh, and I will have to make new calculations for future trip. Is it worth uploding new images to... anywhere ;)

Sorry for OT, I'm out :)

ooh that is just perfect haha anyway that is your fee not agencies so it doesn't really matter ;D

this reminds of restaurants and hotels where when we feel we had a nice meal/service we tip but many places it is already included as you know

what I am saying is that photographers/contributors never get any tips but DT wants us to give our work for free and there isn't even a small gratification, next time I go to my favourite sushi restaurant I won't pay for the meal and no tip as well :P

they won't call the police because I will say it is a test and that I will potentially bring tons of friends later!

why would our work be? as simple as that!

105
yes, that have been talked extensively in this topic

106
We know what we want - the agencies don't. Let's tell them.

1 - what do you want? opt in at DPC
2 - let's tell them? guess you told them already!

How can you trace sales from partner programs at DT?

I would like to know how much that "invitation" to the test will cost me.

you can't and the same goes for most agencies, I believe that contributors developed a lot of trust, not in agencies but deep inside!

108
do you think it is reasonable to be in all ends? wouldn't that be unfair to all other who have taken the boycott in full power?

if you decide to opt in at all deals agencies doesn't that mean you are happy with it? so why create/join another "alliance"?

109
2. We are all entitled to make the best decisions for our own businesses, but given how I feel about the nature of our situation, I couldn't spend any time working with people on trying to improve our situation with the agencies if those people were still opted in to the Dollar Photo Club, which you are.

+1

haven't SS made the deal with FB without giving our work for free?

perhaps DT needs to learn how to make deals on the real world (because we are all fake and know nothing!)

shame on you contributors, getting "30%" and still complaining and not willing to give a few thousands of images for a test that will make you so much richer ;D

now its time to count some cents, Millions must be boring!

just email them, Stephen have been replying to many of mine

I thought maybe more people here would like to know... they were asking the same with no results. Do you think it's good to keep facts quiet? It's easy question (above) and I believe it's not a secret :)

I understand what you mean, guess he must be busy doing other stuff but do email him and then paste the answers here, I am quite interested in hearing about the watermark too

There's no watermarks and they promote sharing sites. Not a good sign.

a small group of 184k contributors, ain't that a little too much for a simple test? and for sure over 1M files? is there a company who needs that much? use the free images!

He wrote: "...a small group out of 184k contributors..."  8)

oops, my bad! anyway if I had over 10 files I am sure there must be Millions of pictures, would needs all that for a test?

116
over 300k so far, only if it was that simple...

I would say we would need an agency with a subscription plan (inevitable) but more focused on the on demand sales, we could get ride of the subs but then we would need to have exclusive content like Stocksy

a flat rate for sales (one for subs and another for ods) would be interesting thinking of driving a big % into marketing etc

the search algorithm will be a nightmare as well, making everyone happy is impossible

we will need to have a few employees too: site maintenance, customer care

how about the reviewing process? guess we can be responsible for our files, if a buyer is unhappy we need to solve it!

believe we can start making a list about everything...

I'm curious how you guys set the markup. I raised it a bit, up to 50%. My understanding is that contributors take 80% of the markup, is that correct?

We provide you with wholesale pricing that you can markup by up to 300%. That markup is your profit and you keep 80%. It's really that simple.

I find it hard to believe that any professional could expect anyone to take anything on trust these days, specially in this business, and yet..... here we have people who , for one reason or another are willing to do just that.
It's a strange world.

well said!

Yuri said a few weeks as well (over 1 year...)

anyway I am opt out even if it is a day only

124
its curious how FT doesn't think of the future, they know how active you are in the forum here and that you would post if anything happened with your account, I cannot understand how they believed this would be positive for them, its also curious how powerful agencies feel with others hard work...

so I can only think they wanted you to open a topic about this matter, they want us to be afraid, things can't get any better...
