I just don't see most buyers having an issue with registering at 2 or 3 sites to fill their needs. I say that from experience. If I find a great site that provides lots of people images, and people images are what I normally buy, I go there. If I sometimes use food and animals, I find a site for great animals and a site for great food, or maybe a site that has both. Registering and shopping at two or three sites is not that big of a deal. When I look for camera equipment, I usually shop at B&H, but I always check amazon (where I'm registered) and Adorama (where I'm registered) and maybe one or two other places.

I fully support that, especially since we offer a "pay per download" service which many others dont - the user has no unused credits with us that he might forget about or otherwise never be able to use for downloads in the future. Hence several registrations with sites offering specialized contents should be fine.

Hi Djoan, looks interesting. Just one minor thing: The pages for licencing the premium version says "onyl 1$ per year", paypal however states $15...  I wish you good success, cheers, Frank

After installing Symbiostock 2.5.5 today and giving it a bit of a test drive, I can tell that this release looks very stable and features great performance indeed: Thanks to the overhaul regarding performance, I was able for the FIRST time today, to process all of my 3.300 images (changed prices and resolutions for all of them) - before the queue would always get stuck around 1.600 images, today it went finally through - might be good news for all users having a larger portfolio.

So Leo, enjoy your days off (in case you should still be reading this!  ;D) and thanks again for the great work! I wish all others a good success with their Symbiostock site - may the sales come in now!

General Stock Discussion / Re: Do customers really care?
« on: July 04, 2013, 16:34 »
I have a tendency to upset people by things I write, probably because what I say is always rubbing someone the wrong way. No matter how intelligent or dumb or true or false my comment is.

You admit to writing dumb things that are false and wonder why people get upset. Might be your attacks at people. Then you want to be burying the hatchet all should forgive you. Might be better to stop wiritng mean posts at people with false information. Be nice and everybody will be nice back. You reap what you sew. GALATIANS 6: 7-9 (KJV)

Often it is the language used that upsets people. Most folks are not professional writers and often choose a word or phrase that has loaded meanings.  For example if I wrote "you claim to say..." it is very different than "you say..." and "you don't have a clue..." is far different than "are you sure of that information?..."

If you were conversing face to face you have the benefit of facial expressions and body language to mold the language in ways impossible when using just the written word.  The use of emoticons  :-\  attempt to replace that personal interaction.

Plus: English might not be the mother language of most participants in this forum, as is the case for me as well. Misunderstandings are prone to happen therefore...

Wow, great effort and really clean and appealing design - a great contribution indeed! Thanks Amanda!

Is this code ready for use? If so, I will purchase the plugin. Thanks.

Yes, it works fine: obtain and install the plugin, paste the code and define# of images to display upon search - bingo. In my case I set it to 96 now.

Some functions are not working. I'm just releasing it early because people may wonder if they've lost any sales during the early days.

Sure, no problem - just wanted to make sure you are aware of things potentially working different as you might have expected...

Software - General / Re: New Keywording Tool
« on: July 04, 2013, 04:57 »
Too bad noone seems the tool to even get to run!
z00b, Id really appreciate some feedback from you since we did not hear back after your initial announcement several days ago!

Wow, what a great addition again - Thanks Leo!

Now we have a great overview both in regards of abandoned carts and also sales - perfect!

Theres only one thing I do not quite get:
If I look at all carts and process the whole cart of a user by "Approve to download", all works fine and the user can download the files afterwards in his files are.
However if I click into a card and see all images therein, select a single image and click on "Process" below, nothing seems to happen - Id expect the user to find this single image(s) for download then? Did I get something wrong or is this function not working yet?

Thanks for your ongoing support, the only major issue I see is the search now where Id dream of the following features:
* Some twists and tweaks regarding search terms discussed before
* User can select how many results shall be displayed (since yesterday we are able to set a generic value ourselves thanks to your fantastic lab!)
* User can select if the order of results should be based on best (also availbale thanks to rating implemented now), most recent or (if possible) downloads

With an improved search I think Symbiostock can really be considered for a final release! Keep on doing the great work, Leo!

I'm lost too, I see seven files in the last tab (code) what to do?

I managed to download the files, install Python on my PC but still no success: Once I click one of the .py files in the folder, a window opens briefly but then closes again. Indeed an installer would be very helpful since most photographers might have only limited programming/administratin skills.

Your program sounds very interesting so Id love to give it a try!

2 more tests: Steve and Ajotte - both mails received fine within seconds - strange!

Correction: I now (!!!) received the mail from Cathys site. Anyway, this is far to long, no potential buyer wants to wait >1 min!

Hm, I just registered with Cathy - two times (one GMail, one my company mail) - NO password mail received!

Then checked my site - out of 3 different mails I registered, I received ONE password mail!

Can you please check as well: http://franky242.net  - Thanks!

Cathy

I just registered on your site and got an immediate email - it went into spam on Gmail, but it was there. By the way, the landing page when you click the login link on the email isn't well formatted. I've asked Amanda about that. Here it is: http://cathyslifestockphotos.com/please-log-in/

It would be good if we all just randomly registered on each others sites to test this out. I've struggled with Captcha's and have now removed it altogether

Thanks Steve, received your registration mail but this is quite useless in case you do not receive your password!

This is too bad since registration is useless at this point in time. Maybe change it so that the user can define his own password upon registration?

Franky - moved across to the other thread. I tested your site - no email

Upgraded today, added photos, created a post - all seems to be fine!

You two guys are simply great! To me this looks like the start of the first fair AND competitive agency ever! Now we just need a common shopping basket/checkout and there is serious trouble for other agencies! :-)

42
I can definitely recommend Stocksubmitter - besides the upload and submit mentioned it also assists you in keywording based on similar images. I use it for 3 years now with a lot of agencies and it is just great. There are various monthly fees based on how many uploads/agency you need. Good thing is you can change that every month so if I have a month with higher needs/output I simply use Paypal to upgrade for the next 30 days.

Only tradeoffs is that it's only available for PC...

MicrostockSubmitter / Re: Payment done but not upgraded
« on: June 07, 2013, 16:05 »
Contact user Niakris here, he is the guy behind MicroStockSubmitter.
Had those issues before and he was always quick to help.

However there were no status updates on the start screen of the tool for some weeks now - I hope the tool is not dead!  Good luck...

Wow, I just updated and need to say that the speed is amazing now - both for my sites results but also for hits within external portfolios - thank you so much both for your joint forces!

Interesting: I just tried that search - my images are indexed pretty well in the meantime but the interesting fact is that besides my own images a lot of images from other sites I network with appear deeper down on the page - looks like our networking also has a good impact also on Google!

Great news, Leo!

Cant hardly wait for the new release to appear! The Symbiocard features sounds great and might us easily put into a position that only the largest agencies can offer to their clients.

Thanks also for taking so much care about the related images feature - I am sure it will be a very important aspect for all users having a larger portfolio... Says "Mr 242" :-)

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock simplifying collections
« on: May 13, 2013, 15:52 »
Being non-exclusive, I couldnt prevent a decent laughter and thinking i$tock should go into politics:

Quote
Excluding exclusive artists from the Main collection puts exclusive artists at a disadvantage by preventing them from selling relevant images to our more price-conscious customers.
- thats just a very nice way of saying "Sorry Exclusives, your images will also be low-level priced now if we decide accordingly..."

I guess thats indeed good news for non-exclusives and - most of all - agencies having good search algorithms and pricing structures like DT with their image levels based on downloads for quite some time now - not that Id call them my best selling agency but definitely a fairer option than being dependent on reviewers moods and taste!

Symbiostock - Suggestions / Re: IPTC Info - Need Opinion
« on: May 06, 2013, 02:51 »
Just a note:
In case you didn't see it in the email, the image reprocessor is on the way, as well as a way to update all of your IPTC data, and even micromanage it. Since I've laid so much of the foundation for it, its quite possible it will be done tomorrow.

Sounds great Leo! I think it is really useful to be able to "spread" your name and contact details that way.
If theres any chance you can take care of the processing for "related images" in the same go, this would be perfect - I can still only process first approx. 250 images out of 2.800 since the script then simply stops. The script seems to be pretty demanding anyway: Once I execute it, I can hardly access my website in the same time (bluehost).

Good luck for these ventures, looking forward to its outcomes!
