MicrostockSubmitter / Re: Updates
« on: April 09, 2012, 11:14 »
Due to recent changes on the sites, DepositPhotos, IStockPhoto and ShutterStock did not work for some time.
StockSubmitter is now updated, submit to these sites is working correctly again.

Thank you Niakris for this heads-up and the great efforts you put into this tool!

iStockPhoto.com / Re: i$tock contributor App for iPhone and iPad
« on: December 21, 2011, 15:40 »
Hi Jamirae,

Two very good points indeed, thank you:

Hiding the images in order to gain space for the figures makes sense to me - problem might be that it means a large impact on the overall design - will however be happy to consider it.

Paid upgrade instead of ads is also an interesting option, however needs consideration as well: as the target group of this app is rather small on the one hand and the app might be heavily used on the other hand, a constant revenue stream by ads might be more profitable.

Anyway, we'll have a review meeting early January to talk through all the feedback we've received so far and based on the downloads and revenues decide about the further development.

Will keep you posted, if you have further feedback in the meantime, shoot!

« on: December 20, 2011, 12:29 »
After checking back with our engineers, I'd like to follow up on the various posts and PMs I received:

First of all I'd like to thank you all for the positive feedback and the constructive recommendations!

First of all let me point out that the backend of the App is based on the data and api of www.istockcharts.de that we also maintain. Hence the figures and wording should be similar between the two applications.

Now in more detail:

Video-Uploads
The api of www.istockcharts.de currently supports only photos. Videos will be considered for future updates.

Android Version
Currently an Android version is not yet planned since we felt a strong corelation between photographers and Apple. However will put it on our list for future items.

Adds and versions previously bought
The App is developed completely from scratch basically, the version for iPad (in case you could not test it on an iPad let me toll you: own interface to make best usage of the iPad resolution) is a great addition in our opinion. Therefore in order to refinance at least part of the development of this App we hope you can accept the fact that the adds appear sometimes at the bottom of the screen. The money earned by these Apps will enable us to further improve and extend the App in the future. These adds btw are displayed for the various countries according to the amount of adds available, hence they do not necessarily appear each time.

Performance on mobile networks
One feedback we received frequently was that the data needs a long time to be downloaded when on the go in mobile networks. This is indeed a very valid feedback and we will take it into account for next versions - like a switch to only reload the numbers and no images while on the go. Problem will be that the screen then looks pretty empty but we'll be creative here as well!

Push Notifications
At the moment the App indeed only informs you upon start of the App or reloading its data once you reached the limit defined. This is due to the fact that we are dependent on the API of www.istockcharts.de and there is no continuous checking of your limits. However we consider this topic very important (also discussed it before releasing this version) and will be working on an improvement in the future.

Data related topics
Hiding the balance might indeed make sense and is on our list for future versions. Right now you can simply open the enlarged preview by clicking on one of the downloads or approved photos and then swipe through the photos.
Too few space for the figures at the bottom - I admit you need to scroll down in order to access the figures at the bottom of the screen - but then you'll have the benefit of swiping through the various data instead of clicking back and forth between the screens as in the previous version. On the iPad of course you have all information on one screen.
DLs and $$s this month indeed are not featured in this version since we implemented the detailled 30day table on the second screen.

Meaning of "Market Share"
Based on  www.istockcharts.de: Files in relation to Total Files (per thousand)

I hope this answers your questions, please feel free to reply or send me a PM with additional questions and feedback. We appreciate your support and will be happy to implement new features in the upcoming versions.

Best, Frank

Thanks for the notification, reading exif data now works fine. However only being able to upload one file at a time and setting the price for each file is a pita, please I,plement FTP and fixed price asapnand I'll be happy to further upload. Good luck - I guess every newcomer is a welcome addition and should be treated accordingly.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Google Analytics
« on: December 07, 2011, 17:37 »
Google Analytics indeed is a great Tool. The only downside is that all your website's traffic data is located at Google and they might use it for their purposes. Not a big problem for smaller sites however might be an issue for larger commercial sites.

87
I registered and tried to upload several images - apparently the EXIF Date is not read and I am forced to re-enter keywords and description again in step 2. Anyone else having more success in regards of EXIF data - no way I am going to reenter that data on a new site!

Off Topic / Re: Weird (former) designer-client issue
« on: October 04, 2011, 16:18 »
AFAIK you need to differentiate between usage rights and intellectual property: while the client might have paid for the rights to use a design, the designer might still have the intellectual property rights, meaning you can not simple change his design without his consent - for which the client might need to pay beforehand...

MicrostockSubmitter / Support for Editorial Images
« on: October 03, 2011, 06:05 »
One feature I really miss in Stocksubmitter (which is by the way a great tool for managing, keywording and submitting to various sites) is the support for Editorial images: Marking photos as such, providing captions for the various platforms that support Editorial and uploading with the appropriate parameters. Any plans for such functionality?

New Sites - General / Re: ZOONAR ! anybody??
« on: August 15, 2011, 14:07 »
Also deleted my Port recently: After a pretty good start Zoonar became really picky and rejected almost all of my images - at one point it just did not make sense any more for me. Too bad, I'd prefer to support smaller sites but not if they are pickier than the large ones...

I did..... and nothing, no replay from DT so far.

Same for me, I reported a site using a watermarked image of Mine to DT about two weeks ago, nothing besides The friendly Auto Reply... Good luck to you!

MicrostockSubmitter / Quickmeta Problems
« on: June 03, 2011, 15:11 »
MicrostockSubmitter seems to have a problem with Quickmeta in the current version: When I select one of my images and hit Quickmeta, I enter the search term(s) and the corresponding images load as before. However when I select the first proposed image, I receive an empty warning box and nothing is updated on the lefthand side (description, categories,... all stay empty), same happens when selecting multiple images afterwards.

Anyone experiencing the same issue? Any fix around?

This is the first issue I am having with the tool (besides some error messages when using Quickmeta before) and I really appreciate its featues!

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Account Privileges locked at iStock?
« on: April 07, 2011, 13:39 »
I had it once but received a Mail by an individual iStock employee about half an hour later explaining the issue and asking for my feedback. The issue in my case was that there were sales happening from the same IP I was uploading from. This was rather easily explained being a large agency with one shared IP address and half a day later my Account was reopened. Good Luck to you!

New Sites - General / Re: Scratchstock.com?
« on: January 21, 2011, 09:42 »
Just registered to give it a try - here are my observations:

No conformation link sent via mail - anything you provide as email address will work - strange.

Far worse however is the upload: Single upload (no FTP or multi select) with definition of category and TITLE (???) plus selection if 72dpi or 300 dpi!

A new site should do much better than this as others (Yaw, GLO or SF) have proven - thanks, will not upload to this site as it currently is.
