An improvement yes, but .....

95% of my portfolio just shows as broken thumbnails, even in searches. No thumbnails = no sales.

Thank you Scott. I will send another mail to support. I did send a query to support yesterday (regarding the original discrepancy on the commission page) but did not receive a reply yet.

Sorry Scott the issue is still not corrected.

The commission page now display the correct amount payable, but when I requested a payment the confirmation page reverted back to the incorrect amount. In my case the amount payable was listed as $72 (this is the correct amount), but after I requested payment the confirmation page stated "You will receive a nett payment of from Bigstock of $57".  This is the incorrect amount previously displayed as "Total payable" before it was corrected.

Thank you Scott for taking the time to look into the problem and to come here and explain the situation.

I have hundreds of approved images with the scientific names included in the metadata on BS and elsewhere and did find this incident very strange. I am glad it was just a misunderstanding.

As a wildlife photographer I take great care to identify the animals/plants I photograph and to add the correct scientific/Latin names, also in the keywords. Now suddenly a whole batch of my images was moved back from the "pending" section to the "pending your edit" section with a note: "Please re-edit keywords. Please remove all Latin/scientific names as they are not parsed". What does this mean? I think they lost their minds.

Crestock.com / Re: More Changes at Crestock
« on: October 27, 2010, 00:49 »
If it helps, 20% of my Crestock sales this year have been On Demand sales, and 80% are subs.  In my case, this works out to an average of .48 per sale.  Not a fortune, but better than .25.

At SS my average sale is .52, so really not far off.  The difference, of course, is that SS can deliver high sales volume.

If Masterfile manages to improve sales at Crestock enough, it might become worthwhile for more people to upload there.

Approx 90% of my sales this year at Crestock were sub sales with a RPD of only 0.34c - the worst of all the sites that I contribute to.  In comparison my RPD this year at SS is 0.61c - mainly due to a increasing number of on demand downloads and EL sales.

I am not defending Crestock, I thought they sucked out loud but they are under different management now and all I am saying is they pay the same for subs that SS does when you start out and you can earn .35c per sub DL after 100 downloads. I am willing to give them a second chance.

0.35c per sub download after 100 downloads? I think you are mistaken, unless it is something they just announced (don't think so). What you probably refer to is that the percentage on single images sales increase from 20% to 30% after 100 downloads. Problem is that single images sales are almost non-existent on Crestock. I am with Crestock since 2006 with well over 1000 downloads and I still get 0.25c per sub download. This is the point I want to make that unlike SS you are stuck with 0.25 for life with no opportunity to increase that.

And subs for .25... SS pays that (and they have thousands of contributors) and if you have a problem with that don't upload.

I currently earn 0.38c at SS. Add to that an increasing number of on demand downloads at $1.24/2.85 per download SS is hardly comparable to Crestock.

I e-mail them to ask if the 0.25c subscription will remain now that Crestock was acquired my Masterfile, explaining to them in detail how much I earn from subscriptions on other sites and how far out of line they were with 0.25c. They replied that it will remain unchanged, upon which I then requested that my account be closed immediately.

After some time I got a nice e-mail response that they were not aware that other stock sites pay more for subscriptions and they would like to have a telephonic interview with me. After a long discussion by phone I was given the assurance that their pricing structure and commission payment to contributors will be investigated in detail and some changes will be made. As a result, I have put my request to close my account on hold, pending the outcome of this new restructuring.

I really appreciate the effort to arrange for a telephonic interview with me and their willingness to listen to contributors. However, if the 0.25c subscription is not raised I will be very surprised and disappointed.  What is the use of all these changes if subscriptions still constitute the bulk of all sales there? I will ask them to close my account immediately.  Sorry, nice people don't feed my family, money do. I am still positive that we will see an increase. Lets wait and see.

I have turned the tables on them. It is more than three months since they opened their doors and they are still waiting for me to apply.  I think I will let them wait a little longer. :D

Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime's New Tax Center
« on: August 31, 2010, 13:32 »
I no, not another stock site that got it wrong regarding the requirement of an ITIN for non-US citizens. Wonder how long it will take to convince Dreamtime that the only requirement is the W8-BEN without an ITIN. I still remember how both SS and FT also insisted on the ITIN. It was only after mass hysteria from contributors that they were forced to do their homework properly and acknowledged that an ITIN is not required. Dreamstime is very late to comply with the tax law requirements. I would have thought that by now they should have learned from the mistakes of the other stock sites.

I th
those images i had uploaded during the dash for cash period are still pending, i got email about how much i had earned for dash for cash, but it is not showing in my statistics.

me neither.  I'm guessing that those of us with images still pending don't have the total in our account yet.

Yes, this is the most likely explanation.  I also got the e-mail stating my earnings to date, but nothing shows in my statistics yet. However, I still have approx. 250 images from the Dash for Cash period pending.  I was a worthwhile exercise though with an estimated earning well over $1000 (provided the remaining 250 don't get rejected).

The question is how important or effective are these lightboxes in generating sales? I have images of mine included in the "Compelling Critters" lightbox and I don't see any increase in sales of those images or my portfolio as a whole. In fact this month is dismal for me of IS.

« on: August 11, 2010, 03:10 »
Yes, for the first time IS is down from my best earner to number 4 (behind SS, FT and DT). I have never experienced such a sudden and drastic drop in sales at any of my other stock sites. I am not really surprised. What else did they (or we for that matter) expect after they started to actively invite buyers over to ThinkStock.  If I was exclusive there I would now seriously consider jumping ship. Hope I am wrong, but I have a stinking feeling it will only get worse over at IS.

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock - new owner?
« on: July 03, 2010, 02:26 »
^^^Crestock do also sell PPD at higher prices.

Based on my sales at Crestock it is a subscription site only. The few PPD sales are so few and far apart that it is negligible. I know Crestock used the argument in the past that they pay 30% commission (based on PPD) and that PPD sales are increasing. That was of course just an attempt to divert attention from the low subscription commission that remained unchanged since their inception.

I think if Masterfile is really serious to make it in the Microstock market they will have to offer something more attractive to photographers than what is currently on offer on Crestock.

Just curious why people actively campaign against support for ThinkStock who pays 25 cent subs, yet are happy to support Crestock for the same 25 cents. Am I missing something here?  ???

While I still have some of my images on Crestock (stopped uploading a long time ago) I will consider closing my account once I receive my long outstanding payment, unless of course they increase their commission. I do not support ThinkStock and neither will I Crestock for 25 cents.

Veer / Re: Veer Dash for Cash
« on: May 27, 2010, 14:55 »
I also started to upload again to Veer since the 5th. Thus far I have 155 images accepted and only 5 rejected. So far so good. Just now I received an e-mail: "Weekly Update: Your Veer Dash for Cash earnings so far", stating that I have 50 photos reviewed and accepted to date, which earned me $35.00 ???. Anyone else received an update with numbers that does not correspond with your actual acceptances?

Veer / Re: Veer Dash for Cash

Corbis tried to enter the MicroStock market with SnapVillage. We all know that SV was a miserable failure - that is now history. Then they decided to start all over with Veer Marketplace - this time to "do it right". I my opinion they have learned very little from the SV experiment.

While it is not unexpected that they would like to differentiate themselves from other MS sites, there are a few basic principles of the MS-model that cannot be changed or avoided. To be successful any MS site needs a constant supply of new images, and in order to achieve this you must keep contributors motivated to submit their images. Here they failed again, and the main reason being irrational rejections (with low sales). I think Veer MP is being run by people (with good intentions) who still cannot get to grips with the MS-model. Why pay contributors now to upload? The Corbis (and Veer) name was enough to attract most of the top microstock artist right from the beginning. Why did they lost motivation and stopped uploading? I predict that unless they change their whole approach to their review process they will get a large number of images from this promotion and then it will go back to stagnation.  I have stopped uploading a long time ago. I will participate in this promotion, but unless there are positive changes I will most probably stop again after this promotion.

Still waiting since 01/03 (24 days). Send a message to support yesterday and this is their answer:

"I have reported the problem and they are looking into it. The money was sent, in fact, so now we must see what happened. Problem with moneybooker, I will do my best to help you."

Now this is worrying. Never before had a problem with money disappearing. What do you make of this?

Considering the high number of images submitted to them weekly I kind of suspected that this promotion won't last for very long. That's why I uploaded my images as quickly as possible. Uploaded 500+ images with only two rejections. Collected my $100 and now I will wait and see if it will be worth uploading more.

WOW! After almost no activity for weeks, 28 sales in one day. All of them $3.50 = $98 in one day. Don't know what is going on, but please don't let it stop. ;D

I requested a payment (Moneybookers) 1 Jan and received the money 4 Jan. The delay may be limited to PayPal payments only.

123RF / Re: Are you submitting to 123RF EVO Collection?
« on: November 25, 2009, 12:12 »
I was invited and have approximately 70 images accepted in the EVO collection. Though my sales at 123RF are low it is still worth uploading. As far as I can tell I havent sell any image from my EVO collection. Since this is some of my best images this is disappointing. I may well lose sales by putting them in the EVO collection where they miss out on regular normal sales.

The EVO collection reminds me of the "side show" of Lucky Oliver. In every search the EVO collection is shown in a side bar with images form the normal collection. Works quite well, except for the lack of sales. For the time being I have stopped submitting images to the EVO collection.
