Canva / Re: How are the earnings going?
« on: January 19, 2019, 07:12 »
Canva the new One Dollar Club. Only $1.00 sales that pay us $0.35. Sounds familiar?

They clearly watched the RevoStock case and are following the same model. Collect all the money for as long as you can and then just close shop without any response to questions and requests and run with the money without any consequence.  >:(

Well I suppose that could be 3 at 5c each. ;-). I got a few similar it wasn't really worth the effort to try and work out from the site what they were actually for.

That is exactly the point. You have no idea. Great for the agency since they can basically do what they want and you won't know. It is difficult to trust an agency with such a lack of transparency.

Have you had any flicker of life from sign elements gave up contributing a while back

One one sale (small) sale so far. Started submitting to them only 6 weeks ago and have 250 images so far. Will build up slowly since they don't take on editorials and these consist a small majority of my port.

How do you know you have ONE sale? SignElements only report your total royalties at the end of the month with no indication what and how many of your images were sold. For all you know there could have been several sales for that small amount. That is my biggest criticism of SignElements.

I suggest we all send them a message demanding an immediate and straight answer.  >:(

Huh this is what they have to say for themselves

"Thank you for your email.

As part of an initial phase, the 2nd and 4th Tier has been removed from the previous Contributor Commission Structure. We understand that these changes have caused a lot of concern among Contributors but rest assured, the coming phase would be good news for Contributors.

All the changes will be conveyed in full in an official announcement once all the phases are deployed, which is estimated to be around the end of March 2018.

Please bear with us in the meantime and do look out for the official announcement from us.

Best regards,
Your Submissions & Review Team"

So, the end of March had come and gone and I have yet to see any official announcement, nor what this good news to contributors will be.  I also dropped from level 4 to level 2 and stopped uploading pending this announcement. Anyone with more info?

Mostphotos.com / Re: free hugs
« on: September 21, 2017, 00:29 »
The active people on Mostphotos use that site more as a social media platform where success is not measured in sales, but how many likes and followers you get. I am sure that many of them do not submit their images primarily to sell them, but rather to achieve the ultimate "success" and that is to have one or more of your image make it to the front page "Popular This Week".  You can only achieve that with a large network of followers.

PhotoDune / Re: When will PhotoDune submissions start again?
« on: September 11, 2017, 11:09 »
I think photo upload is only available to those photographers retained during their previous round of disabling/deleting portfolios. But, for all practical purposes, PhotoDune is dead. I think the last few buyers have left and the only purpose of PhotoDune now is a portal for Elements.

StockFresh / Re: Stockfresh email about new curation standards

I am afraid for Stockfresh it is too little too late. RIP

as @Justanotherphotographer says you be forced into a business account when you reach a certain transaction threshold, and which time they suspend your account until you provide tax IDs, business names etc to stop money laundering.

Anyone know what is that threshold amount?

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Site now live!

Not working for me. When I tried to login with my Fotolia password I received an error message: "The password is too short".

Pond5 / Re: Pricing on Pond5
« on: August 16, 2016, 04:15 »
My sales at Pond5 plummeted since the introduction of their membership program. Your lower sales may thus be (in part) due to this general decline in sales of clips not in the membership program and not only due to an increase in prices.

Dreamstime.com / Re: DREAMSTIME EMAILS BLOCKED?
« on: June 30, 2016, 05:20 »
I also experience problems with some automated e-mails from Dreamstime not received (such as the confirmation e-mail after I requested a payment). This is a recent problem and I am still in communication with Dreamstime how to resolve the problem.

I had the same experience a while back and I needed to change my password. No problem since. I think they want you to change your password from time to time and not use the same password for too long.

New Sites - General / Re: DEC 23rd 2015

Also, if you have a problem with large previews with insufficient water this is not the place for you.

That is the reason I stopped uploading there.

42
I deleted all my clips within a year this year.  No sales at all there.  Don't waste your time and effort.  It's better drinking egg nog than uploading and tagging there.

I agree. They showed some promise in the beginning just to fade into nothing with time. Total waste of time unfortunately.

I received the same request 3 months ago and submitted all the documentation and my status as "verified" was received. The next month I received the same request and had to contact them and explain that I have already submitted all documentation. They apologized for the confusion and my status as "verified" re-instated. Now, yesterday, I received the request again with a note that my SFX files are temporarily removed and not available for sale. This is not funny. They really need to sort out their problems.

Adobe Stock / Re: Is FT still selling HD videos for $3?

They still do. Had one last month (November) - Subscription M for 3.3 credits.

Photography Equipment / Re: RX10ii stills
« on: November 16, 2015, 00:10 »
I have the RX10mkI. I believe they share the same 24-200 /2.8 lens and there is the problem. Very sharp in the center, but the corners are terrible - at all focal lengths and stopping down the aperture does not improve matters. I don't understand all the rave reviews of this camera. For me this problems kills this camera for stock use. If you only shoot video this is maybe less of a problem, but for stills this is a real concern.

46
Just want to give an update. I am happy to report that my payment issues with VideoBlocks are now finally resolved and for the second month I received my payment (PayPal) on time.  ;D

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shares Plummet
« on: August 08, 2015, 03:21 »
A possible cost factor for SS that must have increased dramatically is the cost of reviewing images. Based on their new (irrational) review strategy the average review cost per accepted images must have doubled in recent times since a large percentage of accepted images were probably reviewed at least twice before acceptance.

48
No, but after the response to the announcement with some very good arguments against such a strategy I will be very surprised indeed if they actually follow through with this plan. This will harm them big time and may even contribute to their demise. If they are smart they will abandon the idea.

Dissolve / Re: Dissolve price update
« on: July 31, 2015, 01:19 »
For me as contributor it is not so much about for how much my clips are sold, but how much I earn from each sale. If I sell my clips for $49 on Pond 5 I receive $24.5 (50%). If I sell a clip on Dissolve for $79 I receive $23.7 (30%). Can you see what is the problem here? Who is now at fault? If Dissolve increase our commission to 50% I will not be too concerned if they sold my clips for $49.

People, who didn't get their payments since april - are there any news, any e-mails from contributor support?

After a lot of noise here on MSG and in direct e-mail correspondence with VB my tax form was finally approved. However, I missed the July payment (again) and is now set for August payment. Fingers crossed.
