Did you put them in the parent category as well as the child category?

Edit:  I see what you mean, I have put Dog as a child category of Animals and in the list when editing it show up correctly, but when you put an image up and list it in both the categories do not show as sub-categories

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Image Upload Issue

Thanks Cidepix and Leo.

In my php.ini* file which I had never heard of before I have changed - not sure if these are too high, might try reducing at some point

memory_limit = 128M      ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (32MB)

Plus increased these to 30M each (probably on the high side, maximum my ISP permits is 100) after speaking to ISP support for the second time today

upload_max_filesize
post_max_size

That sorted the problem.

When I initially tried to edit the file it said I did not have permission so contacted my ISP support and they sorted out the permissions for me so I could change it myself

I hope this helps someone else if they get a similar problem

*php.ini file is in public_html in site files

Do we have to delete and start again before installing update?

"Unpacking the package

Installing the theme

Destination folder already exists. ............. then the address it was originally installed to ..........

Theme install failed."

I have found my php.ini file in public_html and it reads:

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Resource Limits ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

max_execution_time = 30     ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 60   ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data
memory_limit = 64M      ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (16MB)

Is this likely to be the problem?  If so what would you recommend I change them to please?

Could I sell editorial images by Symbiostock?

As you are selling (licencing) them yourself you can sell anything you want - just mark them as such and include editorial in your EULA - see the examples posted by Jamie in the General Symbiostock section

I "think" there is a limit of 5Mb for jpgs - is this likely?   I have a success rate of 2/15 jps so far

I was just in the process of typing a similar post so will add it here

I am beginning to wonder if it is a size issue as the only one that has been successful so far was a 5Mb jpg illustration (that I put a hyphen between the words and took out the number).

Most of my images are way above this size.

I have tried
zipping jpg
changing name - no numbers, just numbers, no spaces, spaces
I did upload a zipped eps and jpg (as I would upload for FT) and that failed with the same message as well and that was a tiny file
I have also been uploading images to a file in preparation and tried transferring one of those - still got error message

Try asking your host to "reinstall the scripts" - no idea what it means but when I have had problems in the past they did that and it worked

1034
Yes i would like to try also ! But i have already a blog working with wordpress, I guess I have to start from a fresh wordpress install.

Not necessarily - if your site permits sub-domains you could possibly create one and install Symbiostock on the subdomain

Symbiostock - Hosting / Installing Wordpress (via Justhost)
« on: March 26, 2013, 07:27 »
Leo has asked me to do a tutorial on installing Wordpress for those who have not used it before.  As I use Justhost I can only go by their install procedure which is very easy, I would imagine most cPanels are similar

1.  This is the JH cPanel  - think of it as a library of "things" , you select an item to open it and see what is inside :)

2.The simple scripts page opens - you may be able to use this with other sites without having Justhost, I do not know

3.  Tell it  you want to install -

4.  Tell it where you want to install (if you have subdomains you can choose)

Q. Why do I install in the root rather than a file called Wordpress or something ?
A.  So that the url reads www.mysite.com and not www.mysite.com/wordpress

Hope this helps someone and gives them the confidence to get going.  I think all the other information you need is in Leo's tutorial videos

In step 3 I would load Wordpress onto your site, it has a default theme already but looks like that is pretty much it.

~~

Leo's Video No 7  -  (if you are doing this before Video 6)
 he shows how to create "above header"  repeat this and create header as well or you may get confused.   I am not working though them quite in order as want to get everything else set up before I start playing with pictures.

I have no idea whether this would be legal or not, as you would need to check with solicitor but it is the one done as a draft and might give a starting point?

Symbiostock - Suggestions / Paypal Micro - Normal
« on: March 23, 2013, 05:32 »
I don't know if anyone is aware/interested but if you are selling items for under 9  you can pay lower fees to Paypal using their Micropayment option (https://micropayments.paypal-labs.com/) .  This does however have the disadvantage that if the payment is over this amount then you end up paying higher fees.

It would be great if we could have a "what if" option under 9.00 uses one email address and over 9.01 uses another for Paypal (or equivalent for whichever country)

Symbiostock - General / Re: Prices
« on: March 21, 2013, 09:15 »
Ultimately it would be great if this takes off and we can all host and licence our own images rather than doing it through agencies who do not care how little they pay us as individuals because they sell so many They are okay.

I will not be quoting prices at less than agencies but at least equal to or hopefully more, with a view to only selling though my own site as I cannot see the point of doing that and all but giving them away elsewhere as well  :)

Thanks Leo - for the answer and the work you are putting in - I do think maybe you could get "snowed under" with messages  if you tried to keep us hanging on for ten years  :)

Symbiostock - General / Uploading images in preparation?
« on: March 20, 2013, 13:16 »
I am really looking forward to this being released and trying it out once Leo is happy with it.  Is it worth uploading images to webspace in anticipation  or will they need to be uploaded though the programme itself?

I use Justhost for my personal site, a dog forum and a commercial site selling designer nail art.  The only time there have been problems have been when I have caused them though trying to do things (that cannot always be done) and they have been very helpful at getting me put right again.   Wordpress is easy to load there as is done though the control panel.

Previously I used streamlinenet - had various problems there.
