i have had a couple of this. You need to delete those they say are not relevant and then resubmit

How much does it cost to create a forum? I am trying to look for a free or low cost forum or website like "My Family" for a group of people I know to come together to chat and keep each other updated, any one has any idea?

« on: February 09, 2007, 07:42 »
don;t ask. I am embarassed by my statistics and figures here, esp after looking at some of the rates u guys have.... :P

It's so low, much lower than the lowest one here....even lower than "River" so u can imagine how very low. I submit the same photos to all websites except istock, tend to be stricter with my photo submit there but even then, it does not help in my approval rate....hmm...hopefully with my new camera i will see the difference....

« on: February 07, 2007, 07:40 »
Hi no worries....I WAS REJECTED 4 TIMES BY STOCKXPERT!!! And one of the stock sites that accepted me first was istock.....so u go figure....

My advise - concentrate on those that have accepted you and load there first for this one....oh well when u feel like it again u can try

I weep with you... :'( but life goes on and we move on....there are other better sites yah!!

i am far from payout. All the photos i have sold since i joined in sept last year is less than half of what i got from this single ELS. I can count with my fingers the numbers of total photos i have sold so far at LO.

Shutterstock.com / Re: worth signing up?
« on: January 31, 2007, 05:41 »
Definitely

Shutterstock is a must. I only joined in nov 06. Took me 6 months to get 100 downloads at istock and 1 month at Shutterstock to get 100. istock and Shuttershock combine give me about 80-90% of my stock income.

hahahaha.....but i am impressed leaf that u r 102 at shutterstock!!!

I am 69852 at Shutterstock and i got my approval in nov 06....fairly young. I just got to know about microstock in july 2006 ....so i started to upload in the places here and there before finally landing on Shutterstock. Yes, it took me 6months to get 100 downloads in istock and 1 month in Shutterstock. I heard so much that i just had to join. Shutterstock and istock are the two best performers for me and i have only about 100 to 150  photos there. The rest of the sites i wish they will be better soon.... ;D

(you can find out all about the Micro Stock Sites from my link below.)

maybe those who are in charge of the lighgbox say 5 people need to agree that the photo should be added in? Majority wins or if say 1 person dont like the photo, it wont be added in the lightbox? Dont know, just throwing in a spanner

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Creative Networks Whats the point
« on: January 25, 2007, 10:27 »
that's a great idea Jacus!! We should make use of CN to exchange useful infor etc.  ;D ;D Benefits everyone.

I only rate those i like and i give them a "5". I also add those i like to my "lightboxes".

Usually what i do is when i have  a new CN. I will go throigh the whole portfolio maybe 100- 300 photos and rate those i like, sometimes 1 or 2, other times more depending on the photos. I only rate those photos that i personally think is nice and appeals to me. Other than that i dont rate.

Every now and then i will go to Creative Network tab and rate new photos from my CN. When i am free i will even go to browse and rate photos i like even of people i dont know.  i appreciate nice photos ;-)

Feel free to add me to CN.

« on: January 24, 2007, 00:40 »
hi yes yingyang, that's right :D ;D you were the CN.

I must admit that it was a conclusion that i drawn by looking at no. of downloads. It was an estimate. But it is true that I am not aware of the "extended license sale" that u had as a result of that giving of free photos to istock. Thanks for the information, it would not be available unless u have revealed it. Now, that changes the whole perspective of giving of free images. I guess i was expecting sales to increase exponentially cos so many people download the free image but i fail to realise that there are other intrinsic benefits like getting ELS etc.

Featurepics.com / Re: Anyone selling at Featurepics?
« on: January 22, 2007, 22:14 »
I have been selling 3-4 pictures a month for the past few months I am with Featurepics so I am quite pleased. It's not a lot but with 70%, I get $1 - $3 a sale cos my photos are set between $4-5 with resize options.

I have great expectations of this site and will continue to upload cos they give the most payout. Gracey mentioned that she has received a few payouts from Featurepics so I am hopeful about it.  ;D

Oh and of course I love it that they listened to all my suggestions to improve the site and they took them all up and took action to enhance Featurepics according to all my suggestions. (Most site just ignored my suggestions.) So I am happy to know that quite a no. of the features there is a result of my suggestions

CN is pretty good. But again it depends on who is in your CN and whether they share information.

1) My CN gives me tips to do stuff relevant to istock

2) My CN tells me when istock changes their alogritm on how photos are in the front page when they discover and share tips on how we can do it eg when istock changed and nobody disambiguate, a CN discovered that his sales increase many fold when he disambiguated and he sent a site mail to CN and we all start to disambiguate right on the onset

3) My CN taught me how to do links and stuff when i have problems and wanted to learn new things on istock

4) My CN rate each other now and then when we see photos that we like in each other's portfolio

5) I am in the "Race to Bronze" by Apr 2007 so my CN has a blog that keeps track of the progress and being in the CN gives me easy access to the infor.

6) Also when i started, some people in the CN started at the same time as me and I could use them as a reference point to see how I have progressed in terms of no of downloads. Whether i was doing better or worst etc. It gives me some sort of a marker.

7) When one of my CN gave his photo as "Free Photo", he informed us and I was able to track and see whether this had impact on his sales and whether I wanted to do that as well. I discovered that sales did not improve at all although many people downloaded his photo in that one week. So I decided eventually never to give "Free Photos" to any stock sites.

that's some of the things my CN does and I have found it to be extremely helpful for a newbie....i have been here at istock for 6 months and many things were taught me by my CN, but i must say that its only 2 or 3 in the CN that has been really great in the above instances. The rest are not so.....

New Sites - General / Re: is it possible to make a living?
« on: January 21, 2007, 03:31 »
Hi.

I heard from an old hand that you can only expect regular payout every month when you have at least 800 photos. So aim for that within a year an d I am sure you can make at least $400 a month or more. I just joined 6 months ago and am still learning and aiming for 800 within a year.

There is another forum but you can link to my microstock website and look for Supe87. He did a survey on how much people earn. There are people who earn between $100 - $500 and $1000 - $3000. So you can definitely earn that but it takes time to build up. You need to be patient in Micro Stock and need to work hard too for it. If you expect to earn within a short period, you will be disappointed. Just be consistent and upload and upload was the advise the more experienced microstockers gave me.

My first month, i earn a grand total of a few cents, the next month a few dollars, the third month more than $20 and every month it has increased. You can see my statistics in my website. It can give you a rough idea about what to expect ;-)

Cheers
