Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock Royalty Rates
« on: February 27, 2017, 10:25 »
So, i'm down the average ...

Shutterstock claims a 2,88 $ revenue per download in 2016 (3,02 $ in Q4 2016) ... I had an rpd of 0,72 $ in 2016 ...

So my royalty rate was 25% (0,72/2,88) ... 3% down from avg.

Anyone has higher rpd ?

Thanks a lot Franky  :)
Yes, good idea ... we need to ask Franky De Meyer.

We need to upload the .txt sales report in Deep Meta (or other software) and linking sales and thumbnails ... Read this pdf, excel or txt report without thumbnails is a huge waste of time ...
I love the details in that report as well. Indeed a lot of info we never got to see.
Definitely have plans to integrate this in DeepMeta.

Hi Franky, thanks for your great job.

A question about new Getty sales reports.

We need to upload the .txt sales report in Deep Meta and linking sales and thumbnails ... Read this pdf, excel or txt report without thumbnails is a huge waste of time ...

Maybe could you do something for us ?

Thanks in advance.

From Shutterstock investor relations:

End of Q2 92,10 mln Images
End of Q3 102,70 mln Images

So, avg images is around 97,50 mln in the period.

Earnings in Q3 are 123,101 mln ... 41,03 mln per month.

Download in Q3 are 41,20 mln ... 13,73 mln per month

2,99 $ per image

We can estimate an average rpd of 0,60 $ per photo (avg 20% royalty of the sale prices). My rpd is higher (0,70-0,75 $), but i sell high quality images.

13,73/97,50*100=14 images sold every month on 100 images.

If you have a 1000 image portfolio avg sales are 140 every month. 140 dl*0,60 rpd= 84 $ month

So, we can estimate that avg rpi/month on SS is approximately 0,084 $ per image.

2000 images = 168 $ month
5000 images = 420 $ month
10000 images = 840 $ month

But ... it depends from single portfolio ... For example, I have high quality images (but small portfolio) and my rpi is 6 times higher than average ...

There are portfolios of 1.000 images that sell more than others of 10.000.

Sorry for my english  :-\

Yes, only 10 and 50 packs are affected.

If your percentage is 30% earnings are 0,59 $ for 50 pack and 0,87 $ for 10 pack.

Less than 2,85 in demand but more than 0,38 sub ...

I'm an digital Illustrator (raster, no vectors) and I put a very special care on each work, so my production is slow. But in the new system the effort on search of quality is proving to be unprofitable. If the microstock agencies no longer want to offer quality,  What type of client they pretend to attract. Only facebookers and bloggers?

Same here ... I'm photographer and i upload 300/400 high quality images every year ... Great income for 6 years and from July 2016 down down down ...

From 2004 to 2015 Shutterstock has 100.000 active contributors (avg 10.000 every years) ... in 2016 64000 new contributors, but perhaps 55.000 have only crappy illustration or snapshot photos ... see the "new search" ... what buyers download this low quality works ? I upload to 10 agencies and the worst performance in 2016 compared to 2015 is from SS.

if the new images added are crap, why would that affect your sales if your images are great? in fact your image should stand out even more now and generate more sales

Because all the images (good and crap) remain less time on the first page in the "new search" ... and you know how important it is to sell immediately on Shutterstock or Adobe.

My best sellers in the past have sold many times in the first month. If an image does not sell at the beginning rarely become a best seller.
