123 has by far the worst model release system.  You have to upload, then leave your upload page, go into model release folder and pick every model release that's appropriate then navigate back to your upload page at which time your images are already in the pending queue. Aside from crummy sales there, this is one thing that site could use a face lift on.

Hi Mantis,

You don't have to leave your upload page on and then go to the model release section.

Follow these steps to upload and attach.
1. Login
2. Go to "Sell Images"
3. Click on "Release"
4. Attach your "complete MR" and Follow the uploading Instruction from there.

To attach Model Release.

1. Start from "Release" page.
2. Find the Model Release that you wanted to Attach
3. click on the 1st selection on the 'Action tab' (Attach photo or detach photo frem this release)
4. select the image you want to attach and 'check' the checkbox.

Hope this information helps.

123RF / Re: Rejects at 123rf to clear the pending queue?
« on: January 10, 2011, 21:22 »
Not really sure what is going on, some batches have 6/6 thrown out then 3/5 thrown out and a EPS thrown out for the same reason and so on. I understand that I am new and have a small portfolio and all of that but when most of the other sites that I send to accept the same photos and these guys do not, it makes me wonder. The other part is that I cant figure out that if any of my photos are even being looked at as I have had zero sales with a portfolio of over 120 photos.

Hi Bddigitalimages,

Please email us your UID and rejected images to [email protected] so that we can look into this for you.

They must be in a big hurry to get through the queue, I got a "Rejected" this morning.  No reason.  Just Rejected.  Kinda hard to learn from my mistakes, but oh well.

Hi Pixart,

Thanks for the headsup. Our reviewers have sent a site mail to you earlier on this issue. You may check it for further information.

I am mad!  >:( >:( >:(

Lately, they reject most of my new files...!
Some of them are already good earners on other sites, also main reason for rejections is "minimal commercial value"...
Who is crazy here?

123RF / Re: Newbie 123rf property releases question
« on: December 12, 2010, 22:08 »
Thanks Anglee for response! :)

If I may continue the subject here on the forum (maybe it will help someone else too) - I'm not sure if I understand that correctly - you need release even for buildings that are UNPROTECTED by copyright law? Polish copyright law allows to take a photo of any object found in public space. For instance you can even take a photo of a monument standing on main square although it is obviously a piece of art. Therefore none of my rejected photos need property release.

As for the ID - I didn't receive any info that it was accepted - and I still doesn't have any place where to submit my photos (I had huge "sell images" button earlier, now it's gone O.O) is it a bug or am I missing something? Here it's how it looks like now: http://picasaweb.google.com/missdaredevil/ZrzutyEkranu?authkey=Gv1sRgCOj51az92Zuq_gE#5549051063298822930

Hey Seawhisper,

You may email [email protected] for more information about the Property Release.

I've reconfirmed your ID with the person in charge, your ID has been approved. We won't review any of your uploaded images if your ID has yet to approve by us.  :)

Indeed. We've relocated the "Sell Images" to the footer under the category of "For Photographers". You can read it via the thread at http://www.microstockgroup.com/123royaltyfree-com/sell-images-location/msg173881/#msg173881

Hope this piece of information helps. ;)

123RF / Re: Newbie 123rf property releases question
« on: December 09, 2010, 23:09 »
Wow this is something demanding release for desk... I think I started an account there in a bad time. :D
Still just out of curiosity from who do you get such property release? I mean the building in the city? The city president...?

As for the ID it's really strange. I thought just as you've said - it's only for payments. I thought that because they let me submit photos already. BUT just yesterday I got a mail from them saying that they rejected all my photos (which they in fact didn't do) because of the missing ID.

I have mixed feeling about this website - they doesn't state which court jurisdiction is theirs (if it goes to suing them or they will sue you) what I believe is a must for any international company. Their HQ seems to be in Hongkong (or similar)  but the servers in Singapore and their company registered even somewhere else (I don't remember correctly now, I was tracerounting them after some problems with ftp).

So it's all kind of spooky here... ;)

Hi seawhisper,

The main purpose of a Property release is to prove that you've been given consent from the owner to photograph and publicize the property. This process it to protect both parties [123RF & contributor] from lawsuits. You may get your property release from the Management of the building itself.

The property release is required to be attached onto each image that consist the following:
a) Interior of a building
b) Exterior of a building (for a photo of that building alone)

If the image is of a cityscape, then a release is not required. (the Fair Use Rule applies).

For the email that you received, we've rectified the issue and your ID has been approved.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Also please please please put the # of downloads and the $ earned from our images visible to us somewhere on the site. (or if it is there somewhere, please tell us by some means other than twitter or facebook) (and no, going through month by month and adding it all up ourselves is not acceptable). by the way, I can't even lot on to the site right now.

Hey pancaketom,

Are you able to login now?

Please advise us your UID thus we can check it for you!

Many thanks,

Interesting.

Question: If I tweet this and a lot of my friends come and have a look at my portfolio - generating a lot of views per image but no sales - will not hurt my search placement? If the ratio sales/views is a factor in search engine placement, that is.

Hey Xalanx,

We have only three categories of filter in search result: random, latest or most downloaded.

Therefore, the 'View" will not affect your search placement and it's not the factor in search engine placement.

I've been with 123RF for a long time now, but I've never been able to figure out whether you can tick something somewhere to receive email notifications when files are accepted or rejected.

If you can, has anyone discovered where it is?

Hey rubyroo,

The procedure is as below,
1. Login to your account.
2. Go to "My Account"
3. Click on "Twitter Details"

« on: October 03, 2010, 20:56 »
Thanks for the info. I actually didn't know there were multiple sort options. I always used the default search - did this change from most downloaded to random?

Hi LostOne,

The default search is the "random" search.

You may change the default search to either "Most downloaded" or "Latest" by
1. Click on the "Advanced" word under the search queries.
2. Mark the "Sort results by:" to either "Most downloaded" or "Latest"
3. Click on search.

123RF / Re: 123RF roaylties have changed??..
« on: September 30, 2010, 21:40 »
The search positioning changed is due to we're having huge influx of submission everyday. Hence, the position of your images will change accordingly. :)
Positioning on the keywords I often checked changed, but it isn't new images that show in front (at least if I check the image numbers). Also I see my images positioned differently. Some of the ones that were on the first page went to page 15 or even further down, while some others stayed at page 4. Maybe the importance of faved images changed?

The result of this change is that I'm 60% down on earnings from last month and at least 50% down on any other month this or last year.

Hi LostOne,

We have three criteria for the images position: random, latest or most downloaded. If you're using normal search [random], your images will appear randomly on the front page.

Hope this will solve your doubt.

Cheers,
Anglee
