Photo Critique / Why was this rejected?
« on: September 23, 2010, 15:42 »
Hi all,
am relatively new to this game, am still trying to figure out how to create the right shots... I usually try to learn from rejections, and i feel i've learnt a lot. But then this one came along, and i am lost... To me, its a great shot, you can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39997852@N06/5018114409/#

I put it up on dreamstime and got the following rejection:

- Poor lighting setup, poor contrast or incorrect exposure.

I cant get it. Should i have tweaked the light on the girls face more? I am so nervous to do anything in photoshop as it has given me rejections due to over post processing. I just thought this one was shot in a lovely natural way, but seems not? What is wrong with it?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Heard of Colourbox?
« on: July 17, 2010, 15:55 »
Yes Colourbox seems to be quite well used in Scandinavian media. From the Photographer Terms and Condition i read that:

The Images must be "royalty-free photos". Colourbox and Colourbox' licensees are therefore free to use, reproduce,
publish, exhibit, perform, publicly display and transmit the Images, to crop, modify, alter and manipulate
the Images and to create derivate works of the Images. Accordingly there are no restrictions on the use of the
Images unless explicitly agreed to in writing with Colourbox.
The Photographer shall upload the Images directly to Colourbox'

As per definition, no-one can have exclusive rights of a Royalty-free image (the photographer can sell the image as many times as he or she wants). I could not find the giving away right condition as stated by Klautz but maybe i missed it.

Reading the material currently online i dont think any rights are signed away, what do you guys think?
Cheers

iStockPhoto.com / Change the MR
« on: April 19, 2010, 06:04 »
Dear all!
Am a very new member to the microstock community so i guess you can all imagine the hurdles i am trying to get through! I have now managed to upload several images on Dreamstime, using one MR per model. Uploading the same images to iStock, i am learning that images taken on different points in time need separate MR's. As most of my photos are of my kids, this is a huge hassle, but hey what can i do. Unfort i spent the weekend uploading loads of images to iStock, each model using the same MR. Now my question: all these will obv be rejected due to not having an acceptable MR. Is there any way i can already go in and change the MR; i.e. to delete the old ones and scan in new ones?
