Shutterstock.com / Re: OFFSET opened doors
« on: October 06, 2013, 01:35 »
Hi Scott, appreciate your willingness to stay and face the MSG crowd, who (at times) can be rather brutal.
Although I dont agree with FritzFox harsh criticisms, I do sympathise with his frustrations.

I dont believe Shutterstock has left the starting blocks with Offset in a gallant direction.
A truly noble and honourable business would have cherry picked from the staff that help grow their business from the ground up, rather than hiring externally for the newly created top jobs.

The content being gathered for Offset can easily be created by the extraordinary talents available on Shutterstock. I do hope you guys can take a step back, see the bigger picture and reward the people who deserve to be rewarded.

I realise that writing this will put me on the Offset black list, but Ive always been about loyalty, if loyalty meant nothing, i would still have my port available on IS.

I will support GL regardless of the ebb and flow. The staff are wonderful, the upload process is the best in the industry and they pay a fair rate.

Newbie Discussion / Re: Fine Art America - Pricing your images
« on: September 22, 2013, 23:23 »
I wrote a blog post about it and included a picture of my pricing at FineArtAmerica. I've sold two images using this approach. Not great, but certainly OK! Sold one last week and made about $90 on it.

I had the same drama last week when i decided to put some effort into the POD market, i did a good old google and found Steves post which i've followed to the tee. Cheers for the helping hand champ.

Hi Guys, Just about to take a dive into the world of Symbiostock. I've setup my hosting, just wondering if there's a major update on the horizon or if i'm best just to roll with the 2.5.6 version. Thanks :)

Roll with 2.5.6 by all means. It's stable, nice and workable. A new version is always on the horizon as minor issues keep creeping up. A major upgrade will be the paid premium plugin/version (?) Leo is working on. However, I'd start with the free basic version, anyway, and upgrade to premium if you like it AND miss the premium features.

Sounds like a plan Pilens. Cheers mate

I'm pretty confident this is a deal breaker for me. I'll sleep on it tonight and email them tomorrow if my mind has not changed.

Hi Frank,

A quick question regarding FTP uploads, will this ever be considered at Photocase?

Cheers

This is very disappointing news for all stockers.

If i were in your shoes Yuri, i would not settle out of court, but face this head on and fight on principle.

I would start by drafting up a letter to all the stock sites you distribute through, asking for legal/financial backing, this is just as much their case, as yours. I would then create a donation link for all stockers to contribute to, a loss from this case this will effect us all. Thirdly i would hire a fantastic PR advisor to get the news of this disgraceful case out to the public eye for when the case goes live. This in turn will put pressure on the claimant to drop the case for fear of a consumer backlash.

New Sites - General / Re: Zoonar Partners acceptance?
« on: October 22, 2012, 10:50 »
You all know that Getty most likely translates into Thinkstock (and photos.com), don't you?

That's why I have not accepted Getty.

If you were to set your price category to premium, it might elevate you from the getty subscription sites.... heres hoping anyway

I've reached payout from a couple of ddp sales. I dont have Alamy or AGE on my partner lists as i plan to eventually distribute directly. Stick in there, if the Getty partnership works out, sales are sure to be more frequent.
