I think taking photos using ipad wasn't really common anymore used to see a lot when people use ipad and ipad mini for photos.. but i guess most realize not so practical all shift to the phones. Same thing that few years ago I always got annoyed like people in tourist spot always searching eye contact for a photo. Then I think everyone realize most of the time a stranger took suck photos so now they are get a traveling partner who takes turn photo each other. I do not have an opinion but a semi offtopic comment.
....as long as you do not use it when being a guest in a wedding or event!....
the most annoying bulky thing to get into one's frame!!

how about experience to use it for sketching?
if i need to sketch on paper than scanned to computer and finish the rest.. low productive..
so I ipad pro with apple pencil can complete a job from sketching to final illustration that will be useful as it is something you can bring along and finish whenever you are in mood.

Hi guys,
Anyone is using ipad Pro for part of the workflow?
For photo editing, sketching and publishing a video?
For photo workflow, I understand best is staying in front of big monitor. But how about using it as tethering tool?
For sketching with apple pencil, does it complete the workflow as you don't need another computer?
Same as video editing, does it complete the workflow and don't need another computer.
read up some review but would like to know any users out there that can share first hand experience.
thank you.

Hi All,
Do you use a 4k monitor for photo editing?
currently using a HD monitor and thinking to get additional monitor so can work on two monitors. 2k(WQHD) and 4k price seems double, for your experience the 4k really worth for the double price?
Thanks.

thanks all for the information. Feel istock makes it difficult to review all earnings for contributors. Didn't get active in stock, see the overall earnings keep dropping too

Hi guys,
Been not so active in stock photos last few years..
Kind of lost touch with istock after many changes. I think I haven't received any payment from them long time.
Found out that login page is in istock esp, but after login I can't really find how to know how much royalties I have earned.
Just update my tax interview and how to i know how much I have earned and how to get paid?
Thank you.

Hi guys, didn't get much active in stock like before, now trying to check istock earning page..and it seems contributor needs to log in esp.gettyimages.com ? I tried to login with request username and password, but same results i got as 'your account is currently not set up for ESP access'. like this quote post, so what should i do? thanks. I did not get yet the email with the data to connect to ESP. I have tried to connect using my iStock and Getty login, but without success. So I have tried to ask for a new password using the form. I have got the new password in seconds and tried again to connect to esp.gettyimages.com
And you know what?
It works!! ____ Then I have tried to upload one image using Deep Meta 3 And the image appeared in the page "Upload & review content"
I finally got customer service reply email today where they said that number of people who already had Getty account created through iStock did not get invitation email (and will not get it). We are supposed to use our contact email address as our member name and request password reset (forgot your password option on sign in). After changing password I got: "You are now signed in. Start uploading."
I clicked on the link and got back where I was with:
We're sorry. Your account is not currently set up for ESP access.
I am thinking that they locked the account after several unsuccessful attempts and of course they are not saying anything about it. These locks are typically anywhere between 3-24 hours, so I'll try again.

there is no way windows can detect the lost partition? my choice is taken down the harddrive from laptop and check like an external drive?

this SSD is my laptop hard drive which i had run on windows 10.. actually i wonder is it related to windows upgrade, didn't think of the partition may have issue. Try to put your SSD on a desktop PC and see if you can find / recover your files. But I suggest after to delete all partitions and make a full format. I hope you will succeed !

I had tried R-studio but no success, i mean i don't know how to recover the whole partition with folders. R-studio is able to show all folders in a problematic portable drive before, but this time it is a partition of my laptop so I don't know whether it can be recover same way. Did You try R-Studio by R-Tools? It's quite successful in these situations.

Hi All,
i try out to keywords in lightroom, was using bridge before
But it seems the lightroom always reset the keywords sequence as a, b, c..and on.
Is there a way I can keep the keywords sequence, as more important keywords followed by less important keywords.
thanks.

Hi All,
I wonder is there an easy way to remove a dust spot on a video? i took the video on tripod, and a dust spot on blue sky.
I am using adobe premiere, I think I can put a tiff or jpg layer on the video and render it.
I try to look for a tutorial but can't find how to do it.
anyone can give some instructions? thank you.
I previous export mov to tiff and edit in lightroom and put back as video, but it takes time and waste hard drive space.
thanks in advance.

Hi all,
anyone had started to use tablet to edit raw files?
i saw lightroom mobile and some app coming out, do you guys have any experience to share? what app you are using?
I understand it is not fully a replacement for desktop software but it is useful for a quick editing on a tablet.
thanks.

Hi guys,
I made time lapse photos and since all the photos are more than 4k pixels on longer edge so I make it into 4k video.
but what is the right resolution for 4k video? do i need to set it to 4096 x 2160? what is the ratio?
I used quicktime which has option to convert to 1080HD but not 4k.

I really would like to know how can we claim it ourself without information from alamy. Just giving them the sales report will do?

« on: August 01, 2014, 15:55 »
what i understand from the letter is you can forward your sales report if you want to claim certain images. But you still need a lot of resource to support your claim. I don't think DACS will look for those usages of your alamy sales report and made a claim for you. it seems alamy stated of numbers of images you may be able to claim for individual contributors. But it is a little bit confusing that alamy advise us to contact with DACS which we have no information of those alamy sales (who bought it and where it is used). a little bit confused. From DACS
Many thanks for getting in touch,
Each year we collect royalties to distribute to artists who have work published in UK books with ISBN numbers and UK magazines with ISSN/Barcode numbers and who continue to own the copyright to their works published. We collect royalties for works published up until the end of the previous year so this year works eligible for Payback must have been published before December 31st 2013. You can continue to make a claim each year for your works published in books and magazines as long as you continue to own the copyright to those images.
For more information about Payback, how it works and to read some answers to frequently asked questions, you can visit our website here: http://www.dacs.org.uk/for-artists/payback/in-detail.
With regards to making a claim, you could authorise Alamy to make a claim on your behalf but if you would instead like to make a direct claim via our website, you can reach the Payback log-in page by visiting the DACS website at http://www.dacs.org.uk/for-artists/payback and clicking Apply Now and create a new account unless you already claim Payback with DACS.
Before making a claim you'll just need to know how many books and magazines feature your work and how many images of yours have been included in all of these books and magazines put together. The number of works of yours which have featured in these UK publications can be identified via your Alamy statement.
We do also ask for ISBN numbers, titles and publication dates of three books to verify a claim for works published in books and three ISSN/Barcode numbers, titles and publication dates / issue numbers to verify a claim for magazines (fewer if you are making a claim for only one or two books or magazines).
However if you don't have access to this information, you can enter "Alamy Claim 2013" into the verification fields of your publication claim and forward a copy of your Alamy sales report to us at [email protected] which we can use to validate your Payback claim."
End of quote
You just download your sales from Alamy as a CSV file and forward it to DACS once you have registered.
That way you don't have to pay the commission to Alamy

hi all,
anyone got Sony A7, would like to start a thread for general discussion of this camera..
i just got A7 and realize my is the japanese version which the menu in japanese are not able to change to english. anyone know a hack?
i use this camera mainly with manual lense of nikon and pentax using some china made lense adapter.
I realize everytime i took a photo the digital viewfinder will just show the taken photo for a second or more (it seems the image is saved). Is this something can be fixed? i have used class 10 SD card which is still not fast enough?
in general i find the camera is good since i can use some manual lense, and the full frame image since produce better quality than my APSC DSLR before (which i don't really know the reason, the higher resolutions on FULL FRAME sensor?)
i also find some button of sony a7 is a bit strange, like the zoom on preview images is C2 which is awfully on top of the screen.
