Hi!
well count yourself as a lucky boy because everyone I know at IS, exclusives and independants see these graphs mirrored in their sales.
I guess i am a lucky one to cause my graph is different as well . But probably this has to do with the fact that I am more active now than 2009-2010.

... Shutterstock has gone up it seems but has the same low "per-item" commission. Fotolia is about equal and DT seems to go a little below (Probably because of the upload limit they have there) What are your experiences..And explanations...
lol... I've been start to drop since you started to mass produce the images

I know but in looking at this new best match, its all about new images/uploads, etc and according to the Admin, this is the best match which is supposed to remain. It would take years for it to establish itself.
The best match used in present is the most sophisticated until now. And the algorithm behind make it change automatically all the time. So the fact that it is here to remain means the algorithm will be pretty much the same but the results will change all time. Like the water, the structure is the same but it takes different forms, depending of the container.

don't be mad, be happy that you have the pics on other sites and go on. time is money. don't waste it on rejections on a few sites.

Already 75624 files. Keeping the inspectors busy and customers away from our files.

I stopped uploading for almost a year, removed any link I could find to the site, stopped managing my public light boxes and drastically cut down the number of times I visit the site. I'm sure individuals doing that makes no difference but I really hope that when a significant proportion of us change the way we use a site, it does make a difference.
I do exactly the opposite and seems help it a lot.

This file has already 13 "5" ratings and 24 views and it is already in the Highest Rated Files (week sorted). The same user has another file with only 10 "5" ratings, a plane on a blue sky. http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-17879328-maheno-wreck.phpIs this some kind of "vote mine and I will vote yours" strategy? In my opinion the file is not worth so many 5 ratings. Actually i would not even rate that one. --- (He's best seller has 46 ratings)

In the Chrome, the extension "Search Google with this image" works in the same way as Tineye, so the thiefs cannot be stopped, ever.

some people are sending products photos as editorial with studio lightning and background. as i recall sjlocke had an image rejected because the lightning was a "set up" one.
just search for "Editorial" and "Beer". what is the diference between studio and editorial?

What do you mean? Are you implying that the Chinese photographers have no rights to contribute to stock photo agencies?
Peace man! Please don't put the words in my mouth. The main idea is that there will be more and more people that became contributors and they don't need to sell a lot (like Sean) to be happy. And this will make istock happy because the library will grow a lot even if the diamond or gold contributors will stop upload. And people with few downloads will get less money but they will contribute more than others because they will always grow in number. And istock will earn more by having less to pay. So no matter what you are doing we all are going to the same direction. It would be totally other think if istock would stop accepting new contributors, but this will not going to happen and I would not want this either. FYI, I love China, I've been in China, I cook Chinese food and I love the Chinese kung-fu movies.

And I really don't see the sense in just putting up with being paid less and less each year until I can no longer pay the mortgage.
I agree but stopping upload is it still bad business. By not uploading you earn less on istock and still not pay your mortage. You can go the non exclusive way instead and earn more from all the agencies.

The type that will take whatever they are given, happily.
China can compete with people on shooting apples and pencils. And Chinese people. That's not my thing.
Sean, do you remember this post? http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=309532&page=1"I am a Chinese videographer. What video do you want to see about China?" They are coming....

To the all people that says: stop uploading!
This is bad for the business. Bad for YOUR business. The one who lose in the end is the one who stop uploading. I am not agreeing with a lot of thinks on istock. But I am uploading. And if you don't uploading you make my sales grow. There are so many that register to istock, so many new people and more are coming. Wait until people in China will start to register. A lot of people there would be OK with 100$ per month for their living.
I am not showing my account on istock as well, but I like istock and istock made me grow actually. Fotolia, shutterstock or dreamstime are not better. Just another agencies. That probably sooner or later will face same difficulties.
Just my 2 cents.

I have a few days left before my exclusive contract expires on another site; does istock have an option to allow uploads but not put approved image for sale; similar to the "opt-out" option as SS. i would like to get images loaded and ready for the opening day.
No.

of course is for everyone now. people was/are upset by the all agency thing and by let in the exclusive istock is trying to lower some voices at least. now people with files in the agency collection will not complain so much anymore ;-)

smart move to let ordinary people join the agency collection. "If you cant beat them, join them"
