Just curious ... where are you all getting your latest statments? Mine is not in my email, not on DeepMeta and not on the ESP/Getty site. It's about 11:30am EST Friday.

Tnx

If you didn't follow the above comments, it looked like we were all going to get our statements yesterday.  But then some people got statements that didn't belong to them.  Then it went back to looking like they were uploading data again.  And then it went back to just showing October.  So, no one has their statement yet.

Thanks.

I never received even the wrong statement. Guess I'm lucky.

Gee, I wonder who got mine.... hmmm.

The reason I ask is I just discovered that there is a keyword "in a series"

Yes, my "in a series" images are very different from each other but obviously have the same style.

From the responses I'm getting here, I'm going to be sure to reduce my "in a series" submissions to just a few each time.

Ιf i may comment, "in a series" maybe can have multiple meanings.
Perhaps it does not mean variations but indicate something like:
Ten shots of ten different houses in a same archietecture building style or block?
Twenty shots of  four models posing one by one, then in couples and then by three in every shot?

Just a guess :)

I am a little late with my answer, but well... be careful with series if there are too many images in one series.

I got an email on 25th of july from getty, that my submission limit has been set to a maximum of 50 images per week for the next 3 month, due to 'similar images'.

Original Email:
Hello,

Hope this email finds you well. Weve noticed a trend in your accountwhen uploading files, there appears to be a significant number of duplicates or files that are too similar to each other. The following is how we define duplicates and/or similars:

Uploading a set of nearly identical files to your portfolio.
Reprocessing a file already in your portfolio (changing colors, adding filter effects, etc.).
Flipping a file already in your portfolio and submitting it as though it is new.
Recycling files or image elements already in your portfolio to create new files.
Cropping horizontal or vertical files to square or panoramic and submitting as them though they were new.

To assist you in being more selective with your submissions, weve placed a file submission limit on your account of 50. This means you will be able to submit a maximum of 50 files per week. To view your submission limit usage and the date it resets, visit your profile page under, ESP User Info (https://esp.gettyimages.com/app/profile).

And i did none of those 5 'mistakes' up there, i tried to explain that to them and got this answer:

Original Email:
Our editors would like some time to monitor your submissions and ask that you reply back in 3 months (after Oct. 24th) to review your submission limit.

Our general guidance is to select no more than 2-4 different variations.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Contributor Relations

Now i am trying to get my submission limit removed, but they don't answer and the ticket system does not work anymore.

Good Luck

Wow, that's a little scary. I appreciate your sending this along to me. Hope you are able to get that limit taken off soon!

Great advice .... I'll be dividing up my submissions more in the future......

Thanks for the comment. Good thoughts.

Also, about the possible slight advantage for newer images. I've been wondering why newer images often sell right off the bat. That may be the answer. I'd been thinking that a lot of people must be searching by "Newest"  -- possibly to find images that have not been used much.

Anyway, that algorithm IS a puzzlement ... trying to figure it out is an ongoing challenge.

Just curious if it's a good idea to upload similar images at the same time ... are your other images in the series more likely to be found?

The reason I ask is I just discovered that there is a keyword "in a series" - I had never discovered it before ....... so I've been adding it to groups of similar images.

Tnx

Is anyone seeing anything odd on Istock?

I have a portfolio of over 2000 images, which show on 'Best Match', but only some 200 show on 'Newest'.

In Help > June Issues I see this short comment:

Search & Portfolio results show massive differences when sort order changed 21JUN19

So looks like it's definitely a "thing" ....

Ouch !

Yes, I'm just getting over the shock of seeing only 188 images in my portfolio when there are over 2600 .... I noticed others' portfolios are lacking as well.

Hope this is only temporary.

It appears that some istockphoto reviewers work on weekends. I got images reviewed on both Saturday and Sunday of this weekend.

That was an unexpected treat.

Why unexpected?
They've had reviewers all over the world reviewing 24/7 at least since I joined in 2007.

I don't remember ever having gotten any images reviewed on weekends before. Typically if I upload images on a Friday, nothing happens 'til Monday.

How were you able to determine that most of the views were on Pinterest?

That is what it says in many cases in deepmeta. Not all of them, but many.

interesting ... I'll have to pay more attention to my DeepMeta documents

I had over 4000 connect "items".

Maybe they just tally it up every few months?

Most of it seems to be for views on Pinterest.

But how are the videos being used??

How were you able to determine that most of the views were on Pinterest?

thats why i don't sell nothing in stock...my sales are given free :)...i checked last march and i had practically 400 fixed image line in connect...now more than 5000....what a mess of company of statement...

Here's what they say about Connect if this helps - not very transparent:

And if you use this link, and then click on 'download' under 'products' section, you can see the whole overview of how they license work.

Here's something strange I just noticed on the Statements page in DeepMeta: I went from only 27 Connect items in February to 2257 Connect items in March. What might have caused that big of a jump? ? ?

I just noticed that the new Royalty Statements are up in DeepMeta....

Just curious, does the DeepMeta statement update at about the same time as the esp website ?
Just after, as it relies on esp info.

Tnx ... it easier for me to be refreshing DeepMeta rather than the esp website ... guess it's 'cause I'm in DeepMeta so often and it seems  more user-friendly.

Thanks, david .... appreciate the heads-up. Made my evening.
Did you sell a lot? For now it's just the number but it can give an idea. Also for me when it says istock credits it's usually not so bad compared to istock subs

Well, actually, I sold more last month than I have in any month in the last two years. However, in February, sales were miserable so it's probably just evening out a bit.

I am glad that many of my sales are of subject matter that is all new for me. Makes me want to keep broadening my portfolio.

... almost double my numbers in the past months ... have you seen the same phenomenon for your portfolio?

How do you know what is being downloaded in March? We don't get that info until around the 21st of the next month. I must be missing something.

You can't see which files sold, but you can see how many are selling in quasi real time fits and starts) in your profile. However the number is obfuscated for exclusives who get two 'counts' per 'plusses sale counting towards the targets.

Sue,

OK, on the esp.gettyimages site I went to my Profile, then Performance, then Downloads and the most recent downloads available are from February ... March is not available.

I must be doing something wrong ... am I looking in the wrong place?
In your account profile you can see "downloads to date" Personally I think its a totally unreliable stat. What you can't see is what has been downloaded in ESP you can see views and interactions. Which gives some kind of overview of activity on your account.

Thanks, Sue - Appreciate your help.

I've never paid any attention to those numbers because they seemed so unreliable as you say. But the "Downloads Year to Date" MIGHT give a very general idea of what MAY be going on.

However, when I checked into April's Issues, I see this notification: "YTD Counter repeatedly not updating. Freezes for several hours, but catches up later."

Makes these numbers hardly worth looking at.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: ISTOCK why my batches rejected ?
« on: November 19, 2018, 20:31 »
Hello guys,

My batches rejected for this error:

"Content lacks clear, compelling, or commercially relevant subject matter and / or execution"

Can someone explain the exact reason ?

I've gotten that message from time to time over the years. I've always interpreted it to mean they don't think the image will sell.
