Hi,

I found a similar topic but it was rather old and microstock recommended to post a new topic.
I am a quite newbie to iStock. Recent submission was rejected because "Unreleased people".
It is a 4-series-photo and each phoco includes only a man in it (the same man and absolutely no one else) and I attached a release. 4 of them were required to revision.

I wonder if reviewers are robots ? (I quickly read those topic in here, too !)
Should I re-submit without any change ?  If anyone has had the same situation, please share your experience. I might be missing something.

Thanks all !

I recommend 2 things: 1) Be sure to send the release with each picture, and 2) in the Notes area bring the reviewer's attention to the release... something like "Please see attached model release."

iStockPhoto.com / Re: accepted but not "published"?
« on: October 27, 2018, 10:55 »
A peculiar thing has happened.   Two of my photos that were marked as accepted about a week ago have not shown up in my portfolio.  I notice now that the typical notation is accepted/published, while these two languish with just "accepted" beside them.

Has anybody else encountered this?

Yes, I have 5 images that were uploaded about a month ago through DeepMeta. They were accepted within a day of upload indicated by both DeepMeta and the esp site. However, they never appeared in the portfolio.

Last Monday, I used the form on the esp site to let them know the problem, listing the numbers of each image. Still waiting.

FYI, there's a possibility that this is a DeepMeta problem as it was a known issue with them.

Checking istock again this morning, I see that all 5 images have been added to the portfolio.

Received the announcement in my email, but DeepMeta still not updating.

One good thing this month, a number of recently uploaded images sold and they are different subject matter from my usual. That's encouraging me to keep on truckin'...

Good attitude!

Whether it is a good attitude or just being played for a fool rather depends on what the return on effort was.

Well...over the years, istockphoto has paid for my camera equipment, the high end laptop I bought 2 months ago, my camper, and all of my vacations. Best of all, because of istockphoto, I've developed skills in photography, Photoshop, Lightroom, had adventures and gone to places I never would have gone without looking for that next photoshoot location. It has been a great ride.

Somehow, I just don't feel like a fool.

« on: September 17, 2018, 16:51 »
Happy, considering that i started from 0 in may 2017. for me IS is the best. $ = double what i did on SS. Almost triple $ of what I did on AS. If I combine all my income from the sites I contribute to, I have just paid back the purchase of my G85. Not bad at all for the little amateur that I am!

Someone will certainly ask me the question: What are you doing with all the time you have spent on this? Well, the time to learn Lightroom, Photoshop in addition to the photo missions to get used to my camera, to put into practice what I learned in my classes = for me, a total enrichment !.

Congrats ... indeed, you are doing a lot of things right! Love that term "total enrichment" ... that's exactly the way I feel too and I've been with istockphoto since 2002.

« on: September 13, 2018, 07:25 »
This is the 4th day in a row now that I've been unable to access esp.gettyimages.com at some point in the day ... I receive this message, no matter what browser I'm using (chrome, firefox, opera)

This page isnt working
esp.gettyimages.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 503

This is not interfering with use of DeepMeta.

Anyone else experiencing this ?

Just curious about the thinking behind istockphoto charging only 1 credit for illustrations, which ... as we know ... can often take hours to create?

Why are illustrations considered less valuable than photos?
No idea, but indie togs get 15%, indie illustrators get 20%, so you could equally ask "Why are photographers considered less valuable than photographers?"*
And in fact, an indie photo is 1 credit, and an exclusive vector is 3 credits. So the files are considered equally valuable, but the producers aren't.

*(I don't remember the details, but somehow the vector producers managed to persuade Getty to keep the indies at 20% at the time commissions were being cut.)

Thanks for the response. Doesn't really make sense to me.

AND, the weird thing was, the image I uploaded was not an illustration ... but they insisted it was and rejected it unless I uploaded as an illustration, which I did and it was accepted.

So, go figure.

Not nowadays, AFAIK.

Thanks Sue, I guess I just needed to hear the hard truth once more.

I know, I know ... stupid question. But, I'm asking it anyway...  is there ANY way you can get access to your own images, other than buying them?

What are you trying to do? If you have lost files some of the agencies will allow you to download your images. If all you are wanting to do is influence DL stats then no.

Hard drive crash; most images saved; a few not saved; I'm trying to get them back without having to pay for them.

BTW, downloading my images would not make a tiny blip on DL stats at istock. What's wrong with you?

iStockPhoto.com / Trying to Understand "Connect" by Getty Images
« on: December 19, 2017, 09:16 »
Checking the Getty Images Contributor site, I have read this page several times and still do not understand what "Connect" at Getty is.

https://contributors.gettyimages.com/article.aspx?article_id=2533

As I understand it, certain Getty images are embedded in publishing tools. I get it that photographers will only get minuscule amounts from sales, but I'm trying to understand what "Connect" is and what these publishing tools are.

Can anyone enlighten me about this? Tnx.

Software / Re: New Lightroom Classic CC first impressions
« on: October 27, 2017, 14:15 »
Brightor, I appreciate this well-thought-out video. It's exactly what I as a long-time user of Lightroom needed. The hands-on demos of the new features is will done and convincing and I agree with you, this is a major upgrade for Lightroom Classic. Adobe has put a great deal of effort into this.

My hope is that Adobe continues supporting Lightroom Classic - I use, and depend upon, Lightroom and Photoshop on a daily basis and have thousands of hours into them both. Both are THE preeminent software in the industry.

Thanks for the suggestion .... I'm going with DeepMeta.

Appreciate the help.

Here's a link to the Getting Started DeepMeta page https://www.deepmeta.com/en/GettingStarted
for anyone else interested in using DeepMeta to upload to istockphoto.com

« on: October 05, 2017, 09:47 »
In the message I received from Getty Images in Feb of this year it states:

There are three main areas of the site, which you can navigate between from links in the top right hand corner of the screen:

Account Management
ESP Upload Tool
Contributor Community Website

I cannot find the ESP Upload Tool.

I would have thought it is in the area "Upload and review content" ... AM I BLIND? I'm not finding it.

Yes, I'm a dummy ... any thoughtful help without reminding me that I'm a dummy would be much appreciated.

Tnx

"If you had $100 in your account, you should have been paid automatically."

Sue, I have not been paid all year; however, I also had not set up my new ESP login until today (April 19). My suspicion is that's why I was not paid...  your thoughts...

And, yes, the sum is over $100 each month

97
I did have good luck with support - yesterday (April 18,2017) I contacted support about missing the deadline due to illness. They answered me in the afternoon. So I'm now tooling around inside the ESP site trying to figure out how to get my payments of Jan and Feb. Will see how that goes

98
what forum....?

This is my forum

I received my new ESP login, but the the link led me to an error page... Anyone else having this problem?
