DT is looking for individuals to sign up to become "Keymasters" (people that will keyword images for .20/image). Submitters will then be able to upload images without keywords, and then the Keymasters would keyword the image. The submitter would be charged .20 and this would be applied to the Keymasters account. Keywords created by Keymasters won't be viewable for the first 3 months (so that you can't copy them to your other images in a series). What do you guys think of this? Yesterday, I had two major milestones on the micrstock sites:
- I went over the 500 sales mark at iStock and earned my 1st new canister (a bronze one). This doesn't get me much, since it only increases the # of uploads per week and I only upload a few photos a week, but it is a good moral boost.
- I went over the 100 sales mark at Fotolia and earned my 1st new ranking (a bronze one). This one will hopefully get me a little more, since it increases royalties from 33% to 35% and allows one to increase their Extended licenses.
All in all, it was a very good day.

Disambiguating files is now a LOT easier. iStock has added:
- a new tab that allows a user to copy tags (aka keywords) from one file to another
- a new way to remove multiple tabs at one time
They have also made the display for alternate searches more visible. If you search on keywords that are disambiguated to a phrase, there is a new box at the top of the search results that says something similar to:
We found the term "living room" as a phrase. Would you like to search for living AND room instead?

As the title states, is there an upgrade path from Photoshop Elements to CS?
If so, how much is it?

After reading another thread, I see that achieving the bronze canister level (over 500 DLs) gets an increase in uploads (from 20 to 25/week), but I was wondering if there are any other benefits (as a non-exclusive)?

Basically, it allows you to upload a series of photos and then bulk auto-populate them. But they are requiring you to go into each photo and make individual changes. Here is the full thread: http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_5794

Is anyone else having an issue getting into iStock. The site seems like it is up, but it has been REALLY SLOW all day. I have a high speed connection and it is taking over a few minutes to get to certain pages.

There was a thead on one of the other microstock forums that discussed the term "isolation". It did not coincide with my understanding of the term, so I thought that I would ask for your opinions.
Please remember to cast your vote in the left-hand column...

The good news: Dreamstime has added a Model Release library. The not-so-good news: Many of the big-hitters don't like the fact that Dreamstime has added fields for the photographer to enter a model's info (name, address, phone, date of birth, etc) which can be hacked. You can read the full thread here: http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_5692

On top of all of the other stuff that is going on over at iStock, there is one more tidbit that you all might find interesting:
iStock has made the statement that God is a "fictional being".
I have a few Christian images that had the keyword "God" in them. That keyword is now translated to the tag "God (Fictional Being)" and there doesn't seem to be an alternate choice.
I'm sure that all of the religious folks out there will just be so happy to learn that they have been worshipping a fable...

What has happened over at IS? The queue has exploded to over 30,000! It used to be around 12,000 or 15,000.
Are they doing something special in preparation for the 1 millionth photo?
I have photos that have been in the queue for over 10 days.

It seems that Dreamstime has removed the ability for a buyer to purchase an image without registering. That is too bad because I have had quite a few Instant Purchases. It is quite nice to see a few dollars added for one image (and it is more in line with what the royalty should be in the first place). A discussion was started about this, but it was closed by admin. It is very sad that more and more microsites are censoring their forums. You can read the full discussion here: http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_5117

As the subject matter states, do you plan on opting-in (in which case you don't need to do anything) or opting-out of the VOX initiative on iStock?

When an image is bought from a microstock site and then posted on a webpage (such as a e-zine or company website), is the webpage required to display the author and copyright? Does anyone know how the different microsites handle this situation?
I ask because once an image is posted on a website, it is easy to hijaak. And without a copyright notice, a viewer might believe that the image is free for the taking.

For those of you with a lot of images (in the 100s or 1000s)...
How do you track sales?
Do you simply just go to each site and use their facilities?
Or do you track sales on your computer with a spreadsheet or database?

I have noticed that some agencies give higher royalties depending on how many downloads you have. For example, iStock has a canister system that pays higher royalties as you gain more downloads (see http://www.istockphoto.com/exclusivity_intro.php). Fotolia also has a similar system, but theirs is called a ranking (see http://www.fotolia.com/info/tarif.php). Do any other sites do this as well?
