Not sure if anyone else has had any success with the keyword mentor system but it looks like another DT dud.

Once you submit, you have no idea if the keywords are successful, and it is up to another reviewer to approve them. Why have keyword submissions if they are going to be judged? by the time it takes to read and review they might as well have typed the words themselves.

Pretty poor effort and very unprofessional.

Just noticed on the Jupiter website you can send an email and ask for submission guidelines. Wanted to hear someone else's opinion on them first

$20 very handy. Pushed me over the $100.

Looks like now I can look forward to one payout each per month from both SS and DT.

Slow going so far, but getting there slowly. Starting to get the idea.

Cameras / Lenses / cheap camera gear
« on: February 12, 2007, 18:19 »
I have been looking around for a little business opportunity, and just found out about drop shipping.

Not sure if you guys know about this. This is where a wholesaler lets you sell their stuff - on eBay for instance - and pays you the difference between the sale price and the wholesale price.

They handle all the stuff, postage etc.

I joined one group in Hong Kong and the Canon gear was about 20% less than the prices on eBay.

Anyone else got any experience in this?

Might be a way just to get cheap gear for  yourself, since there is no minimum purchase numbers.

I have decided it might be worthwhile buying a cheap flash set with umbrellas etc.

what wattage does a flash have to be for it to be worthwhile?

I applied for one of these positions to take baby photos etc.

any idea on what gear this is.

here is a link to one site I found

Yippee. People seem to like this shot. Sold a heap on other sites. Took it at an interesting place in Australia called Barcaldine. Australia has 60 million kangaroos, and I reckon 40 million of them are at Barcaldine.

Dreamstime.com / DT have nearly 40,000 files pending
« on: January 03, 2007, 02:52 »
Had some of mine in the queue for weeks, always 21 hours away.

Going to be slow progress from here methinks. Maybe they are focussing on deleting some of those non sellers?

That would be worth the wait!

Lighting / What do you use for backing?
« on: January 02, 2007, 03:40 »
I have bought cardboard, but it gets crinkly quick. also tried black velvet.

Is there some sort of plastic people use, without going all out and buying the proper photo stuff?

Cameras / Lenses / Confusion over DPI in new camera purchases
« on: December 27, 2006, 17:21 »
Just a question for you who have become digital masters.

My old Canon 300D transfers photos to Photoshop at 350 dpi.

I have noted that some cameras claiming to be 10 megapixels at RAW only have 180dpi. So surely, this is simply a 5 megapixel camera with interpolated pixels. Am I right.

I may be wrong, but if my camera captures 3072 x 2048 at 350dpi, this means i can double the image size and still have a print quality photo at 175dpi?

Can someone explain this for me ... make it the Idiot's Guide to Pixels please. I ain't real smart.

Photoshop Discussion / need help on noise software
« on: December 11, 2006, 14:37 »
both SS and StockXpert rejections are for noise.

How do things like Noise Ninja work, what is the best/cheapest. I run Photoshop7.

Are they PS add-ins? and, do you leave it until you are ready to save the image?

Bigstock.com / I joined BigStock now, and other stuff.
« on: December 09, 2006, 06:20 »
I must have read the stuff wrong. I thought it had to be 10mp. It says photo below 10mb. Teach me to take my glasses to work. There did not seem to be an upload limit. I sent 20 today. Will try and load another 200 tomorrow. Wonder how long it takes to review them, and what their reviewers are like?

123rf loads real quick for me, faster than the rest by far. And Fotolia are the quickest reviewers.

Anyway, so next year I am hoping to make it big in Micro. That's if my 300D lasts until I have the cash for an upgrade. Got nearly 10,000 shots on it and it has a few dust spots.

Really only been doing this since October. Joined DT and have 83 sales so far, so I cannot complain.

Just lately I am starting to create stuff worthy of selling, that's my opinion anyways.

Found Leafs stuff. Cannot find any of you other guys on the sites. Have you got your portfolios linked anywhere? Here's mine

General - Top Sites / Newbie, after site suggestions?
« on: December 04, 2006, 03:13 »
Howdy. Been putting stuff on DT since October. Since then have joined 123rf, Fotolia, CanStockPhoto, and Gimme. Been rejected a few times from LO, and currently under review at StockXpert, iStock, SS.

Have so far about 200 worthwhile images and trying to build about another 5-10 a day.

Any suggestions for any other sites?
