I have been advised by a few good photographers to buy a light meter before I invest in studio lighting.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me about theirs, and the uses they have for it.

Bought a Canon 50mm f1.8II. At $84.95 the freight was half as much again.
Cannot believe how sharp this lens is. And I am expecting some great portraits. Put about 80 shots through it last night. Amazing. Best value for money Canon offers.

I let it go a year since my last rejection, and sent once again, my top 5 selling images ... and then I got the standard rejection notice.
Since I started applying, I think they have seen a pretty good representation of what I am selling, and still no good.
And yet a search of their selling images seems to mirror other sites.

I have obviously hit something, and the crop tool is locked to a proportion thing. I want it to move freely.
Help please.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why some sites still require a person who is an active contributor of stock, to go through this ridiculous application thing to get accepted.
For the time they must spend going through your application, and then reviewing each image, it would have to save time and money just to give them a link to your current portfolios.
Surely they can look at them and say, send me that one, this one, that one, but not that one etc..
Load them all onto a CD with keywords added and load the * portfolio.
Is it just me? Seems like an ego trip.

I have seen this on a Pro forum. The equation is to (square the sensor dimensions then add) square root the total. Then double the result.
(eg)
Canon 30D sensors dimensions are 22.7 X 15
22.7 squared = 515.29 15 squared = 225
515.29 + 225= 740.29
The square root of 740.29= 27.2 Double 27.2 = 54.4
So according to this the most accurate I need is the lens at 54mm. Anything less will make the model fatter, anything more will make the model thinner.
For those of you without a calculator, type in your figure you want the square root of in excel as such =sqrt(740.29) then hit ENTER. (Where 740.29 is your total of the squared sensor dimensions)

Did a graph on Alexa comparing ISP, DT, SS, and StockXpert and the dip at June is telling.

I suggested to DT that copying the keywords of a file not your own might be a good idea.
I got an answer back to check another forum post where a photographer and DT staff said it was considered stealing.
Personally, I have a real issue with this. You can easily log into CanStockPhoto and use their keyword tool if you are really stuck for ideas.
Some dude puts in his login into to his keywords to check if someone is stealing them. I just think this is weird to the extreme.
Fact is people search by keywords, not the talent.
What do the rest of you think? You have heard my opinion, i reckon the English language is free of copyright.

From my very limited (3 years) experience in micro, I understand the frustration some people on this forum are displaying.
I believe a lot of it has to do with the difference in cultures.
There are a few companies that have a very authoritarian approach to managing their talent while others are more "Westernised" and do not have an issue with dissent.
The reality is we are in a business environment.
Most of the problems do not exist with the company itself, rather particular individuals in that company. A company is inanimate. It is the people that make up the company that makes it good or bad to deal with.
From my experience here I have found it better and more productive to complain to their management about particular behaviours of particular individuals, rather than the broad brush approach.
At the start I had issues with a few individuals at DT, who had very poor communication and English skills.
But I believe this is in the past.

Just a heads up for everyone. I went to convert my earnings this morning and they now require you load a government ID in your profile before you get paid.
So better do it before you reach the payment criteria.

Despite actively trying to build my SS portfolio by submitting, I have experienced 18 consecutive days of stagnant sales at SS. My sales have dropped to between 1 - 9 sales a day.
As of 12/05/2008 I had made $22.20 for the month.
Anyone else experiencing this.

I have finally got my first real estate client and want to make the most of it. I intend to use my 30D and Sigma 10-20 and tripod.
I have a few good interior sellers as micro, but this is the first time I have ventured into client territory.
Any business or photography tips would be appreciated.

I have recently joined this mob. They are a few people that used to work for Scanpix and have establised this site in Norway.
I understand they have got funding from the Norwegian Government to assist in establishing the site.
The main people are, Linda Lgreid Johannessen, Jan Ole Kjellesvig, Roger Bystrm.
Cheers

I have been looking at some cheap aftermarket ring flashes as a way of solving my ongoing fight with lighting.
I was wondering if anyone here used them, and the experiences they have to share.

A few days ago I uploaded a collage of signs I have been selling for ages. Within hours of them being accepted they put me back into the sales I was having years ago. So I uploaded more.
NO GOOD.
I get the rejection message. POOR COMMERCIAL - we do not need images like this at this time.
I really wish the reviewers would have a look at what is actually selling before they send the messages out, it just makes them look like fools.
