Looks like I may have jumped the gun a bit. Having just looked again the sales are now shown as the top up amount. Having just looked back through my Alamy sales sales and there appear to be about 38 more such sales for which I have not yet been compensated.

Sorry to change the subject a bit I couldn't find the Alamy thread about sales for cents. Having received another apologetic email from Alamy a couple of weeks ago along with a promise to pay a 100% commission on the Chinese distributor sales which they acknowledged shouldn't have happened in the first place due to being opted out, Alamay have sold another 17 of my images on 28/12/2022 for a grand total of $1.10. (gross) How many more times will we have to go through this until they fulfil their promises to respect our choice to opt out of such sales.

what would a fair deal look like? what compensation would be appropriate for an artist who contributed 1 (or 100+) images to a training set of millions?
Who can guess but from experience I would expect you will need a microscope to see it. [/quote]

Received an email today apologising for the error and saying that contributors will receive the 100% commission on these sales and they will try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

4.1.5. except for any rights that have previously been licensed or granted in relation to the Content, there is not and will not be during the term of this Contract, be any limitation or restriction on Alamys ability to license the Content; Part of the latest amendments contained in an email response from Alamy. I don't have time to read the full T&Cs so I could be misunderstanding it but this would seem to suggest that they can ignore opt outs and license when, where and to whom they like.

I am already opted out and still had 17 sales to a "Chinese editorial site" for a grand total of $0.72 gross. Given the mix of images the phrase "legally stolen" did spring to mind as it would be hard to imagine any of them being used for editorial purposes. Needless to say I have emailed Alamy but not sure it will achieve anything. Given how few decent priced sales I get these days I may have to delete my portfolio entirely if this continues.

I had the same problem today, 17 sales to a Chinese editorial site for a paltry total of $0.72. I have emailed Alamy as I too am supposed to be opted out. Given the eclectic mix of images I would be very surprised if this is a genuine editorial site and what worries me most is that none of the images (photos and illustrations) has any obvious editorial use. One has to wonder how these images are really being used.

Could be coincidence but I haven't had a single download since opting out, not that I got many before.

Due to bereavement and personal health issues I virtually stopped uploading anything four years ago. Much as I would like to start again I am finding it impossible to find any motivation.

What I find most annoying is getting mostly 10 cent SOD downloads where they often used to be $20 or more. Now it is rare to get any above $1.

I also never received a notification. I have just opted out but it took about 6 attempts to do it.

22 sales yesterday mostly 5-31 cents gross. Strangely enough one was for $3.40 which was in China even though I opted out of sales to China. Wouldn't be surprised if this one gets refunded.

I have just sent another email to them to try and get my images removed from the free use section, they haven't responded to my previous email. I never opted in to the share scheme.

Not holding my breat waiting for a reply but I have just contacted them to ask why they are still selling my images. Their auto response says to expect an answer within 1 business day. Lets see how long their days turn out to be.

Yes, me too. I just checked back to earlier in this thread and realised that I had already made two requests to close my account two years ago. Looks like I may have to revisit the site and delete all my images.

Just checked today and found two refunds from 2021-11-30 and 2016-08-15. Both were originally downloaded on those dates. Hard to believe that it can be financially worthwhile to go back so many years for half a 25 cents. Unless, of course this is the tip of a dirty iceberg heading our way.

Finally had my first Alamy sales of the year yesterday. 26 sales most of which were 12 cents with a couple slightly higher up to just over a dollar. Given the small percentage rate it is worse than shutterstock. I only stay with them for the odd big sale but they are few and far between.

Still waiting for my first sale of 2022.

Same here. I am still waiting for my first Alamy sale of 2022. At least I haven't had anymore of those tiny micro sales from China and Germany since Christmas.

I have had scam attempts from loads of places pretending to be from Amazon (saying my account would be locked) banks I don't even bank with and even HMRC (UK income tax) the latter saying I could claim a substantial tax rebate of over 600. This kind of thing is so common that HMRC even have a dedicated section who deal with attempted scams. Needless to say I didn't fall for any of the scams but I can't help wondering how many people do.

I was always apprehensive about the SOD sales as there is no way of knowing exactly how they are being licensed. I didn't mind too much at first as they were usually a good price, often much better than ELs which they seem to have replaced. But I have noticed that I get mostly less than a dollar for them now with the odd rare exception and I too have had a few of the 10 cent ones. I, for one was much happier with the old system where you knew what you were getting for each type of license.

Is everyone sure that these tiny sales are distributor sales, they do not show up as minus the distributor's cut on my account or don't they bother showing it when the amounts are so tiny. I am only asking because I would like to be sure before I opt out of all distributor sales as I have had some reasonably large sales in the past (even after distributor and Alamy share have been deducted)

I just saw seven today, I can't be bothered wasting time to check but if I remember rightly I had some of these sales last year which were subsequently refunded.
