Dreamstime.com / Re: Nightmare on Dreamstime
« on: July 15, 2014, 13:57 »
Numbers of sales seem about normal for me, they always fluctuate from day to day, but I was very disappointed to get a sale for 12 cents recently.
I honestly didn't know they paid so low.
Guess I should read the small print sometimes.

One subscription sale today, probably the worst Wednesday since I started at Shutterstock.
Been getting worse and worse for the last year.
So much for opting out of the controversial schemes elsewhere to protect my Shutterstock sales.

The main problem is the lack of a clear definition of the scope and duration.
If DT could be a little less vague I am sure lots more people, including myself, would be more willing to support them.
I am afraid that actually giving something for an unspecified time for an unspecified use in the hope of MAYBE getting something in return at some unspecified possible future date does not sound very appealing to me.

My sales almost always stop around late afternoon, our time.
There are lots of comments about "dead zones" on the Shutterstock forums.

Unfortunately in this day and age the majority of people in all walks of life are all too willing to sell out tomorrow for the chance of making a quick buck today.
The saddest thing of all, in my opinion is that those who choose not to follow that path merely make it even more profitable for those that do.
I suspect that the real reason that some people are so quick to take these type of deals see it as an opportunity to enhance their incomes by taking advantage of reduced competition.
I am certain that those who participate in these schemes will see some short term benefits, BUT only if the majority of people opt out.
I am not referring to any contributor/s in particular here but I would ask those who are thinking of participating in any of these recent schemes to remember that they are gambling with everyone's future incomes, not just their own and that is why some people may appear somewhat aggressive in response to their actions.
I sincerely hope that everything pans out in the end and we can all enjoy a more prosperous future

I find it hard to believe that any professional could expect anyone to take anything on trust these days, specially in this business, and yet..... here we have people who , for one reason or another are willing to do just that.
It's a strange world.

When I contacted support about the changes the reply just said that I could delete manually.

Maybe I made the wrong assumption when I noticed that the options had changed been reduced to leave online or donate to free section.
Do you know when they made the change from having the three options.
To delete images or have them re-keyworded or donate to the free section.
If you are right it would have been nice of them to inform me of the changes before they altered my default setting.

:(I was beginning to have doubts about DT when they abolished the default option for deleting old files with no sales.
They altered my pre-set default without even informing me so now I have to manually delete them individually or pay to have them re-keyworded.
It will be interesting to see how opting out of their alliances affects my meagre sales.

General Stock Discussion / Dollar photo club
« on: March 16, 2014, 12:46 »
Sorry if this subject has already been covered and I missed it but I just discovered Dollar photo club selling high res photos and even all my vectors for $1 a time and lots of buttons for sharing them.
I can only assume that they are part of some partner programme as some of my very recent pics are there.
I would be really grateful if anyone can tell me where they are sourcing their images and even better if they know if an opt out is available.
I could really use your help with this,
Cheers.
Mike.

« on: February 03, 2014, 22:59 »
Thank you 123rf, I have just checked my sales and my commission rate has been returned to it's proper level and this months sales prices amended.
Still no explanation for the low non sub sales though though they have risen from 12 cents each to 16 cents each.
I am hoping they will get back to me on that one. I wish all sites had the same type of opt out option as Yaymicro where they tell you what price to expect and it is possible to opt in or out of each individual site.

Just got this e-mail from them:

Hi there,

Thank you for informing us.

How about an insight into the ridiculously low non subscription payments please.
I asked them that question in addition to the subs errors and they ignored that questions. They responded by simply cutting and pasting a canned response to only anyone who asks about the subs issue. I don't think they have an honest answer for non sub junk sales.  Probably "a negotiates special price"like all ms use.
I got the same email even though I only asked about the non sub sales. When I checked properly though it looked as if my commission level was also too low.
I would be surprised and delighted if we get a proper explanation and even more so if they actually do anything to improve the value of sales to contributors.
I can see this becoming another site which I stop contributing to before too much longer.

Where is anglee? I went and checked my stats and whoa and behold I am only getting paid at level 1 when I should be getting level 4. And I noticed that I got a whopping 18 cent download for a small non sub.
More than I got and still haven't heard from support.

Go to your account and uncheck the tick box for partner programmes.
It took me a while to find it.

My subs seem to be unchanged but I am waiting for a response from their support to tell me why I had two images sold at small size which netted me 12 cents each today.
I have opted out of their partner programme pending an answer....

DepositPhotos / Re: DP, is really coming on!
« on: January 22, 2012, 18:03 »
Sales seem to be growing steadily for me but I am really p****d off that they are still deducting tax from my US sales and the lack of response to my repeated emails to support.

DepositPhotos / Re: Difference between "Rank" and "Level"?
« on: January 21, 2012, 03:29 »
I am getting sick of emailing Depositphotos support every day about deducting tax on US sales.
My original W8BEN form was good enough right up to January this year when they asked me to submit a new one, which is still under review.
At one point they did refund some of the deducted tax but are still making deductions on new sales.
I am only posting my annoyance here because so far no one from DP has had the courtesy  to reply to my emails.
It is really annoying because sales have been picking up steadily there for me, but by the time I have paid 10% tax on US sales and then 20% UK tax It will not be worth the effort of uploading there.
