Today I had four sales of illustrations at minimum subscription rates on Canstock.
All four were labelled as Distribution free print sales.
Can anyone tell me how this works and how I could opt out of such "sales"

General Stock Discussion / Re: Strange RF rejections
« on: July 21, 2017, 15:51 »
The oddest rejection I ever had was from CanStockPhoto saying that I needed a model release for a nude image.
The photo was of a landscape without even a bare tree visible LOL.

Because it takes three or four times to make it past the reCAPTCHA verification. Or to click the 15 cars.
Exactly, and then the 6 or more street signs x 4 and then the store fronts.........

79
Just set a new "record" 53 clicks to access Shutterstock, what buyer is going to want to P...  about that long before they even get to look for what they want.

80
I get the logic behind the use of re CAPTCHA but is it really necessary to make it so bloody difficult.
For me it is averaging 33 clicks to access Shutterstock. I am only a contributor, but given that most of Sutterstock's images are available elsewhere I would be shopping at a different agency if I were a buyer.

Would not work for me yesterday and still not working now. Tried ftp and uploading on site but no success.

82
Not a single download for me on Friday, disappointing is an understatement.

83
An hour ago I couldn't log in at all, Now I can login but can't complete submissions. No wonder sales are down.

Thanks for the useful info.
I have opted out of my images being used for free, I (obviously wrongly) assumed this meant all free usage. I will contact support and see if they will opt out all my images.

Does anyone here know about downloads which show as "free prints" at Canstock.
I just received the princely sum of 25c for one. If this is becomes a regular thing it might be enough for me to close my account there.

In my case images are usually all photos of nature and landscapes.

I upload images in batches of ten and most get reviewed within a couple of days but a few often sit in pending for a few more days.
There doesn't seem to be any logic to which images take longer to review but as my acceptance rate is so high there I am not complaining.

I think the op is probably struggling with contrast.  ND filters don't help much with that.  It doesn't help that the op hasn't told us what the actual problem is.

I think you've nailed it.  There's a reason most of us avoid shooting at noon.  However many stops of dynamic range your camera may capture, at midday it's probably not enough.  The highlights are too bright and the shadows are too dark, so you lose detail at one end or the other or likely both.  And even if the camera can capture it, the data format you use may be too limited.

Noon is a good time to take a nap, not so much to shoot stills or video.  Especially in bright, sunny places.

Move to the North of England, the usual problem here is not enough light at any time of day !!!!

Like a lot of other people, I am left hoping that I don't have to go back and edit thousands of existing images already online there.

I read the article on Alamy forum and no-one seems to know exactly what we are supposed to be doing for sure. I have always used quotation marks up to now which I thought was what we were supposed to do and worked fine up to now.
if we are meant to use commas then why does their system remove them at the final stage.
It is evident from following the forum link that you posted that I am not the only person who is unsure of what is meant to be happening.

Thanks, I will check on that but just for the record the commas had gone on the next batch I edited. Life should be much easier when they finally get the new system up and running.

I like Alamy but I wish they would hurry up and sort out the keyword priorities.
It has gone from bad to worse for me in the last few days. The commas between my keywords previously disappeared in "manage images" meaning I could simply copy and paste to the relevant boxes, now the commas remain and I have to deal with them too.

Worst month since 2010.
My sales were already falling steadily but then took a real dive back to almost nothing towards the end of June and haven't picked up again.

I, for one will be happier when all the name calling and derogatory remarks are over.
I am not so arrogant as to think that my opinion is any more valid than the next persons and I would not presume to speak for anyone else but I can state that before we left the EU I was not some fascist, racist, homophobic nationalistic sadist who didn't give a * about people less fortunate than I am and now that we are out of the EU I have no intention of becoming so.
So will the people who are making those suggestions please stop and think before suggesting that anyone who doesn't share their opinion is not fit to have a vote because they are fat, old, or stupid or just automatically racist because they are white.
Thank you.
