General Stock Discussion / Any Small Microstock agencies for sale?
« on: November 20, 2012, 04:30 »
Hi!

It might seem stupid but I am thinking what if... I would buy a small agency and put it on its way to success, step by step?

What about an empty working microstock web-site to start afresh? Does anybody know any prices about that?

Thanks.

General Stock Discussion / Re: become a full timer?
« on: November 14, 2012, 04:46 »
Hi again, all! Hi, Anika!

I don't think he said he went from 800 to 6800 in 2 years.  He's in microstock for 6 years now, and after 6 years, he has 6800 files in microstock (not particularly on Istock).  I started in 2006 too, with a fulltime job as a secretary, and now I have between 3900 (Istock) and 6300 (Bigstock) on micro.  So yes, it's super-possible.  I'm fulltime since January, but my port did not grow more than usual the last 10 months.  I thought it would, but it didn't because my commissioned work grew faster than expected.

Good to know and thanks for the info! It's not a problem of bad or good intentions. I would be really interested to know how much do you earn now? Actually we have to see if this direction of microstock is a good one or a successful one, at least for some of us.

So, if you can please tell how much can you earn, it would be useful. I really don't think it's possible to earn 8000 and work full-time somewhere else in the same time. Maybe I am wrong. Am I?

Thanks and have a good day!

hey, I really don't believe it!

let's be serious! 8000 per month and working full-time in the same time! and you probably shoot only in week-ends, right? :)

you're lying!

p.s.: who does agree with me? Hands up! :)

Hi!

I wonder if there is somewhere a website to show a list with the legal issues we might shoot and we are not allowed to, or we should mark as editorial...

I know for example the Tour Eiffel needs to be editorial if it's shot in the night but I'd rather read these requirements than discover them myself...

Thanks.  ::)

good for now! I thought I'm the only one to not have patience with uploading... Sometimes I feel uploading on different agencies' websites is harder than the creative process!  :D

I see, interesting anyway... The idea was something like that: if I have today two hours, should I make an illustrations and upload to all stock agencies, including low-earners or should I rather make 3 illustrations and upload them only to the first top agencies? :) To be or not to be?  :o

It depends! Having a full-time job already, I can't spend more than 2 hours per day to microstock, as I also have already a lot of other things to do, as everybody else...

By the way, this would be another interesting subject to discuss about: how much time do you allocate to microstock?

I mean: if I allocate 2 hours per day to microstock, could I expect to earn millions?  ;)

Hello, everybody!

I started with Fotolia, then Shutterstock... and actually I am thinking to upload to low earning agencies. I put in balance the + and the - and I think the only problem is the needed time to upload. Otherwise, it's a try and why not doing it?

Although, It would be interesting to see some oppinions about it. Does it worth to upload to smaller agencies or do you think it's more efficient to focus on top agencies?

Thanks.

Thanks! You are so right... My mistake was that I wasn't aware at the beginning that I'm going to dedicate myself so much to this "business" and I just used to name them "business", "business 1' and so on! You can imagine the rest! :)

What about the workflow? How do you think it's the best? If you shoot or draw everyday, should you upload them in the same day to all websites? Or would it be better to have a special day of the week to dedicate to this?

I mean sometimes I find quite bothering to draw and then stop to upload. I upload in order to check if the quality/idea is ok. If it's accepted, I go as on Fotolia the review of the illustrations is very fast...

General Stock Discussion / How do you organize your files?
« on: July 10, 2012, 15:59 »
Hello, everybody!

I am new on the forum. I have some questions. I have about 1000 illustrations and I intent to upload them on more sites. I didn't put keywords and they are quite in a chaos. I wonder how should I organize them.

Just as an example, I have more than 50 images placed in different folders with the same name. It might sound crazy but I think those little details could make my work easier. I even wonder how do you name your files in order to find what you need. Where do you put them? Do you have an excel? Is it Lightroom? Or what?  ::)

Thanks in advance!
