I Agree, it is exactly the same as micro.  You build up a portfolio of quality articles/postings and, over time, if yours are good they will mature nicely and reside towards the top of that particular category.

It is also about continued effort and patience, so just like microstock.  Oh the one pleasing thing is that nobody has to 'accept' your postings!!

You can make money from hubpages using a huge number of other ways, it is not just the adsense and amazon links they make available on the site.

Your post and article can include a link to almost anything you like,  so people use it to see products from other affiliates, or to promote their own website or products.

The main benefit, as said before, is that it is quick and free, and the traffic and search ranking is likely to be a lot better than your own blog would be.

I reeally like the site too, like other have said it is very easy to upload to and I also find that review times are pretty quick.

Someone has signed up with my referral link and made a sale pretty much striaght away, so some pics are definitely selling.  It is a shame you can't see who you referred to see teh size of their portfolio for that sale.

General Stock Discussion / Gearing Up

Hi,

The biggest limitation I am finding with Microstock is finding the time to sort out enough quality images to increase the size of my portfolio.

I was wondering about the possibility of employing a freelance photographer, or buying unique images directly from one, so I can upload them on to my accounts.  Thisis intended to be 100% above board from a copyright perspective.

So, has anyone else ever used others to take photos for them and if so, what sort of price would you pay per image?

thanks

Hello All

I've found a potentially fertile new microstock ground.  Has anyone else posted photos at Constant Content?  http://www.constant-content.com/?aref=44613

This site originally focussed on website text content and I believe has established a good reputation with authors and purchases.  They are now selling user submitted photographs.  I've had a look and it looks good because:

a) there doesn't seem to be too much competition on there yet
b) you set your own sale price!
c) you can sell your images either "usage rights" or "full rights". You can charge much higher for full rights but the image must be exclusive and never ever sold again if sold in this way.

Has anyone else used it, any views?

Yes, I think the key benefits are that you can create a page very quickly, much quicker than a blog, and the much higher levels of traffic and google ranking.  My hubs are already generating much higher traffic figures than my stand alone blogs.

The pages can be about anything (within reason!)  i.e.   selling, linking, review type posts, information or just general ramblings.

Have been reading a thread on there about people who did a 30 day challenge - 30 pages in 30 days, and some of their income figures are quite impressive.

Interesting this internet thing.

Just the one, James, they signed up to Dreamstime using my referral link. Their profile talks of landscape photography in Scotland and Yorkshire so I had high hopes for sales of dramatic mountain scenes and craggy Yorkshire dales. Months on - not a single image online! There isn't even a test you have to pass at DT so I guess they just lost interest (or their images weren't as dramatic as I had envisaged). Still, I live in hope. Regards, David.

Thanks, I just signed up to Yay using your link.

Ok, so this isn't really much to do with microstock but I have just come across another way to make relatively 'easy' money from blogs and posts and promoting your photos/sites.  The site is called hubpages and you publish your own pages, posts etc (much easier than creating individual blogs/pages).  Ads and affiliates are provided by google and amazon and earnings go straight to your existing accounts. You can also promote your own photo sites, blogs etc via your pages.  It really is quite easy.

Excuse the hard sell (I know some will moan), but I have just found it and think it is great and I hope it will genuinely be of interest to you all.  Link is here:

oko thanks, so please could you critique this for me.  I have adjusted levels but shadows are still apparent, I presume that;s ok?

Is it starting to look a bit overexposed though?

Hello everyone again.

I am hopeing that someone can help me. I have taken a close-up of an object for a microstock picture but the white background is not perfect.  I have read references to isolating the object in photoshop (i have elements).

Please could anyone tell me the easiest way to get the perfect white background?

Thanks a lot

The cheeky bugger who put his SS referral link on the Fred Miranda photography, forum back in 2004, has already benefited to the tune of $3K-odd from me alone.  However he did me a much bigger favour by informing me about microstock when it was just exploding on to the scene.

Feels good to share doesn't it!

Right, can everyone now please go to my blog page www.microstockselling.com and click on every referral link you can find!  Currently just Dreamstime and Graphic Leftovers.

You are all too kind!

James

Hi Photo.Hr

I have a Canon EOS 450D and have had photos accepted no problem..   The slightly older EOS models are cheaper but for a newbie you probably don't need features offered by the newer ones.  450D won't shoot video though.

Hi All

So I am another budding photographer..  I recently bought my first dSLR and identified micro as a great way to learn how to shoot lots of different things and earn a bit of extra cash for some more equipment and maybe some lessons.

Another budding photographer?  I don't mean to offend you but, having a DSLR doesn't make you a photographer.

Don't expect to generate $100 a month by just pressing a button.   It's not just about quantity, it's also about quality, originality and knowledge.

A tad patronising.  I think budding explains that I acknowledge my lack of experience, I don't need you to point it out.

Hi Again

Another quick question.  Everyone seems to be keen on promoting their various referral links to these sites - is it a bit earner?  Do you actually earn much cash via this route?

Thanks

Hi All

So I am another budding photographer..  I recently bought my first dSLR and identified micro as a great way to learn how to shoot lots of different things and earn a bit of extra cash for some more equipment and maybe some lessons.

I aim to become a good portrait photographer but starting my micro with everyday things.

I started at the weekend and have submitted to 123 and GraphicLeftovers.  13 images accepted so far but the ones on 123 aren't showing up yet.

The link for my GL is:  http://graphicleftovers.com/designer/jwsc101/ref=jwsc101/

My first target is to generate about $100 net a month (i.e. my share).  I know this is difficult to answer but how many photo's do you think that would take and is it sendible just to start on 2 sites?

Thanks
