back on topic....
some options I'd try: 1) you either need a break, although it sounds like you got that when you went through your mourning period. 2) buy a new lens. nothing gets me more keen to shoot than trying out a new lens. not that I'm an equipment junkie, I haven't bought a new lens in nearly 2 years. If not a new lens then some new gadget. 3) go somewhere ... either take a mini break or just get in your car at 5am and drive for 3 hours and see where it takes you. most of us can't resist that. stop somewhere for a lovely lunch and stay out all day and shoot in the afternoon too. take the new gf and shoot her on location too.
All great ideas. Thanks tons. I will try some.

I broke up with my girlfriend last summer. Even though it was my doing and necessary it hit me really hard and I have not felt like shooting much. The stress had left me kinda hollow. Feeling much better now and starting to shoot again. Even have awesome (and much better) girlfriend.
The projects I HAVE shot have felt forced and somewhat on auto-pilot. And not from the zen-zone or heart.
How do you deal with staying motivated to shoot when there is stress in your life?

sounds like an equipment issue. or f/stop. focusing should be the LAST thing to slow down a shoot

My friend's band was playing at a Harley dealership today so I grabbed my camera on the way out for some simple snap shots -- prolly not stock shots. Never really took my own advice and shot something first. Got there... NO CARD~!!! LOL oops

Here is a good tip:
before you walk out the door with your gear for a shoot, pick up your camera and just shoot something (wall, door, your foot) and view on the LCD. it's better to know things are working (or not) before you leave the house then on location.

Geezz can we give this topic a rest!!?? I mean how many "I HATE ISTOCK" threads do we need. I am doing very well at iStock because I work hard at making images that sell and not whining on forums about how unfair life is.
If you hate iStock, please leave it. It means more money for me. And if you do leave don't announce it because half of us don't care and the other half are glad to see you go.

There are lots of other couples, friends and larger groups who submit jointly to iS. Funnily enough, an admin once said categorically that it could not be done, until I pointed some of these out.
The admin I contacted did not know. told me to contact Support.

Why not ask there?
I think it is ok as long as you have the right paper work.
I just sent a site mail to one of my Admin contacts there. But I wanted to know any other experiences

My niece has a pretty good eye for photography and has shot some very good images. I was speaking to her about purchasing the rights to some of the photos and submitting them to my iStock account. I guess this might be similar to Yuri hiring shooters for his various portfolios. She has no interest in becoming a regular microstock shooter.
Does anyone know how submitting other shooter's images would fly at iStock or elsewhere? I guess I would need to get a "All Rights Ownership" contract signed by the photographer.
Thanks for your input.

ISTOCK MANAGEMENT QUOTE OF THE YEAR AWARD!
"We get it, you guys are mad. And reading the forums for the past year has made it clear that some of you think we are lazy, incompetent, greedy or uncaring."
Gawd I love it!

Search is fast, contributor side stuff like My Uploads, stats etc all still very slow. Better that way than vice versa. Inspections are on a pre-Christmas boost. I just got one accepted about 100 mins from upload.
Yep. I am getting approved in hours. Overall speed feels about the same.
