Just remember what they told us - "Money is not what will make you happy"

Since I'm in Bangkok now I just did a search for "bangkok" with the slider all the way to the right (most relevant isn't it supposed to be) and the second image has "bangkok" listed as the 10th most relevant keyword.  This can't be correct, I know we were told there are no bugs but the most relevant images should be better than that shouldn't they?

I think they switched the slider (or may be it has been broken) - just try to set the slider all the way left and you will get the most relevant results.   :-\

Totally agree with Leontura with regards to Istock new search:  :(
http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=314342&page=19

"Illustration of a mod boy who drive an italian motor scooter smoking a cigarette" is now higher for "London" than a high selling London skyline. There is nothing London in that image. Even a Chicago skyline is higher. I find it hard to believe that this was tested properly."  :( :( :(

I hope that doesn't mean I'm going to see them selling off my work on the stock sites one day (but they probably could if they wanted to)

You mean re-selling again your work as Istockphoto "exclusive" + Agency content  ;)
Interesting if you (the original illustrator, not Dorling Kindersley publishers) are going to get anything out of these sales  ???

From this thread by Istockphoto's Inspector:
http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=314232&page=1

"Yep, if us "eagle eyed" inspectors get a glimpse of an identifiable title, author, publishing house logo, or cover artwork
we will send it back for retouching, sorry. Remember that some publishing houses also have a readily identifiable "corporate style and layout"..."

Dorling Kindersley publishers http://www.dk.com/ seems to have very identifiable style illustrations.
Just wandering how these illustrations can be exclusive then?

General Stock Discussion / Exclusivity Question
« on: March 13, 2011, 03:00 »
Are all those illustrations related to Dorling Kindersley publishers?

If so, how can this illustrator be exclusive on Istockphoto?

If iStock is going to adjust contributors' royalties, even though the credit card companies are on the hook for the charges, then where will that money go??? Into iStock's bank account, right?
right  :( , may be you should change the subject to "where will that money go???"

They really probably should have called it
"Money isnt going to be what makes you all happy!"
They really probably should have called it "The Clubbys".

Is Inmagine under Getty?

HultonArchive (exklusive on iStockphoto) is selling the same picture as Inmagine

http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-13314651-two-women-gossiping-in-studio-b-w.php
http://es.inmagine.com/rets008/rets008080-photo

HultonArchive has 16123 pictures and the account is only from july 2007. I guess the rules for the others members did not apply for this account as well.

Istock has to know about that don't they?

Do you really think Istock did not know about this
http://es.inmagine.com/rets008/rets008080-photo
and also about this
http://www.fotosearch.com/FSA019/x18615284/
when they made this "special contributor" ;) also "exclusive contributor" ;) with all it's 16,123 images ?

If there is diamond contributor, currently taking 40% and if you sold 39,999 credits worth of images in 2010.
That means for your sales in 2011, your rate would drop from 40% to 30%.
That is a 25% pay decrease from what you were earning! not to be confused with a 10 percent rate decrease!
Is there any reason why to reduce 25% pay for this contributor???

Just wait for a few days for their old and verified tactics. They will offer something that is just slightly less awful than this and people will start saying "Thanks istock".
so true   :-[

As I said, this can't be technology that is blocking these two things from being fixed. There must be more to it.
I also highly doubt this is just ignorance. It seems that they don't want to fix it and they have a reason for not doing it. What reason?

I aslo feel ashamed by the approach that IS staff takes to these two topics in the forums.
They play games with contributors
a) pretending that everything is just fine with the PP earning being reported this late and
b) bashing anyone that complains about the PP opt-in problem telling them that that is not the topic of the thread. Unethical. In may early days of microstocking I got the impression that IS is the best place with the best staff. It is sad it turned this way.

Agree, unfortunately...   ???>:(
