Well, with the commission changes and now the site problems, I guess they're trying to emulate Istock in every way.

I'm past the point of being mad at IS.  Now it's just downright sad what that place has become.  What happens there this year will determine whether I pull my port or not.

My plan was to pull my port at the end of this year if nothing positive comes out of IS, but if this announcement is negative I'll probably go ahead and pull it.  I'm really tired of companies (not just in this business) screwing with people just to see what they can get away with.

It really doesnt ever stop with that bunch of amateurs overthere eh?!  >:(
I kept my 17% but am getting payed at 16% right now; oh im sure they'll AGAIN dump a lump sum in my account to correct it... but seriously..........the camel's back is ready to break. Friggen, annoying incompetence.

They still haven't released the 2012 Payout Schedule.  Why was this not prepared long ago?  It's not like the calendar is an ever changing thing.

Any idea when the revised targets will take effect?  They reset the counters, but the old targets are still in effect.  There were a couple of threads started over there inquiring about this, but they were immediately locked and referred to Contributor Relations.  It didn't affect me last year so I don't remember how long it took.  It does this year.

My plan is for no more submissions to IS.  If I don't see anything positive for contributors during the next year, I plan on pulling my port from there.  Being forced into the partner program was the last straw, but I don't want to do anything rash.  I'll give them a year.  I do realize that pulling my small port will not affect IS in the least, but I'll feel better at the end of the day.  I'll concentrate my efforts on the sites that respect their contributors.

It's not just about the price that the customer pays, it's also about the cut that the agency takes.

What I don't understand about our industry is why the agencies get to keep so much. App stores typically pay 70% to their content suppliers. Amazon and the like probably earn about the same (or less) despite them having to store inventory, package it, deliver it, etc.

There is more than enough money being generated from our content for both contributors and the agencies to make a very good living. I don't understand why a few agencies get to keep almost all of it.

Because contributors, me included, allow it.

Mine are still stuck at Oct. 31st.

A couple of months ago it looked like a sure thing that I would go up a level.  Highly doubtful now.

I'm one of those who will be leaving, as soon as my income builds up enough in other places to make up for the loss.  This month I've earned more from three EL sales at IS than regular sales...a first.  As reported in a previous post, I used to earn about $500 per month there, but this month I'll be lucky to reach $60 (without the ELs).  That's about what I earn from TS sales.  It's ridiculous!  While all the other sites remain steady or continue to increase, IS is in the gutter.

It does seem a lot of buyers have migrated to other sites for their PP needs.  SS's PP sales are better than ever, as are DT's and 123RF's, which I find amazing considering I really haven't uploaded much the past two years as I concentrate on other projects.

Yeah.  Same here.  If the recent downturn in sales continues, It will certainly make it much easier to leave.  A few years ago, leaving Istock was unthinkable.  But now, it's almost a foregone conclusion.  Wow, how things have changed!

BTW, I'm using the free version of Quicktime.  Could that be the problem?

I'm new to video and Premiere Pro and I can't figure out the export settings.  I know there's a simple solution, but I can't seem to find it.  When I try to export as a Quicktime file, the size drops from 1920x1080 to 720x480.  .  How can I export as a .mov file and still retain the original size?  I've tried using Mpeg Streamclip, but I always get the error message "can't prepare the movie."  Thanks in advance for any help.

Definitely a step in the right direction.  It's great to see an agency being actively involved here and listening to contributors.  I'm still not ready to make the jump until the prices are raised.

"Fixing" this bug will probably create 3 more.

They said it would be fixed Monday, but does anybody really believe that?  They'll start working on it Monday, but their track record hasn't exactly instilled a lot of confidence that it will be fixed then.  It really is unbelievable that they would just leave for the weekend without fixing this.  They do seem to have a total disregard for contributors and a willingness to do whatever they're allowed to get away with.

Nice to see an agency that values it's contributors instead of treating them like a nuisance.

194
I don't believe Fotolia is acting in response to Istock.  I believe it's Photodune that prompted this.  I believe it's also a preemptive strike against any other potential new agencies that might attempt to undercut even Photodune's price structure.  Something had to be done to stop this race to the bottom.  It's clear that contributors weren't going to do anything.

195
Wow!  That's a breath of fresh air.  When will the flash upload option be available?

Envato / Re: PhotoDune August Stats and Update
« on: September 04, 2011, 16:31 »
I won't be uploading there at the current rates.  They are severely undercutting the competition.  Sure, the commission rates are slightly higher than IS, but much lower than other sites.  We get 50% at 123rf.  PDs image prices are just too low, especially the ELs.  It's just advancing the race to the bottom.

BME  on IS and it wasn't even close.  Almost did it on SS.  BME on 123rf.  That site has really taken off.

Love the flash upload option.

Veer / Re: New Public Profile Pages for Veer Contributors
« on: July 13, 2011, 19:26 »
Hi folks,

Thanks for the positive feedback so far. I've gotten confirmation from our technology team that there is a bug with respect to setting the cover image for albums. The intent is that the first image in the album (the one that appears at the top left) should be the cover image. Once it's working properly, you'll be able to set the cover image one of two ways:

- The last image you add to your album becomes the cover image (it's displayed as the first image in the album). Or...
- If you rearrange the order of the images in your album, the image you put in the top left slot will become the cover image.

The bug fix should go out early next week.

Cheers,

Chelsey

Great!  Thanks.

I messed with it a bit. There should be a way to designate which image is the "cover" image for an album other than adding it last. (or if there was a way of doing that I didn't see it or refresh properly or something).

It looks potentially useful though.

I didn't see a way, either.  It would be nice.
