General Midstock / Unable to get 500px to stop 'selling' my images
« on: November 17, 2020, 05:00 »
Another sale for 7cents today. It is at least MONTHS since I asked to disable all Marketplace sales.
Anybody know how I can actually get 500px to stop 'selling'?
I did think about completely disabling the port, but I guess it also exists - probably forever - in a Getty subfolder somewhere and/or China.
?

Dreamstime.com / 403 Forbidden error - can't upload
« on: November 11, 2020, 06:15 »
ok. Problem sorted.

I've seen some of Adobe's stuff promoted to teachers. Woke, woke and woke.
Diverse - provided you aren't white, hetero etc etc, it seems.

:(

54
I usually never come on the forums, but this announcement, this was just too much. Bad news for all contributors who spend their time uploading good work.

In this difficult time, when we're already making such a small cut from our own content

- instead of help, you Adobe decided to hammer a nail into the coffin.

Same old, same old for me....... Bit better than recent days which have, though, been utterly feeble.

Early on Mat mentioned another piece of 'news' coming our way soon...

Anybody seen it yet? While we are on a roll....

It would be nice to hear from Canva about this use of their templates......

Thanks Spacestockfootage.
I closed my account so cannot log in with or without the verification code.
I'll send all to spam.
Glad it isn't a bigger problem!

VideoBlocks / Hacking in progress?
« on: October 10, 2020, 03:24 »
I closed my Videoblock/Storyblocks account some time back. But now keep getting Verification codes in my email to access 'my account'. I am not trying to access my account...

I have tried to contact the site but no reply....the Verification codes keep coming....

Just in case this info is useful to anybody else. Just doesn't seem normal to me.

Worst month for earnings this year due to not a single larger sale (over $2). :(

My sales are ok there - if not good - so obviously in the past they accepted something! But lately? Seems they are getting everything from IS? Are they still accepting YOUR submissions?

OK. Is it just me or are Canva not accepting hardly any images these days? Like 1%.
Barely worth sending them up as wasting everyboody's time....
  :o

Who cares? Shutterstock is literally dead at this point. Why is anyone even contributing there anymore? My P5 sales are through the roof these days

Well who's the lucky one then!!! Nada here, nowt, nuffin'. Situation normal for photos.

Not sure that was a very helpful reply. I'm sure many of the sites' own forums would also be good/better than here. But we come here as it is sort of 'news central' so we don't have to read each and every forum.

... i dont see travel opening up til spring 20231 ...
Sadly, it could be around then.  :(

I agree with the rest of what you said, stock is a way for many of us to be 'economically active' fitting in among other commitments (in my case, sharing the care of my Mum), where any sort of regular job wouldn't be possible (I can get called at zero notice at any time, 40 miles away so can't make any sort of arrangement for anything). Others will have similar but different stories. I am aware that there are still people who work at micro full time (maybe fewer than e.g. five years ago).

Also, a lot can depend where you live. I've seen four or five photographers set up in my town over the last maybe 12 years, and others in other towns, and there just isn't the market interest, so all have failed*. The most recent was trying to adopt some techniques I'd seen on Creative Live to grow her business, but US city marketing methods don't really transfer to semi-rural Scotland!
*I see a new one is literally just opening since lockdown started to ease.

So indeed, Microstockphoto, stop lecturing everyone and realise we all have to paddle our own canoes and negotiate our own hazards.

I see near me a photographer offering 2 hour studio portrait sessions for 25, about $30. A course I saw recently spoke about earning hundreds of dollars per session.... Not in anybody's wildest dreams round here.....

'Normal' sub sales are now dire. I wonder how long the 'surprise'  number will continue to compensate.......
Not feeling optimistic.

Anybody found any guidance for these new boxes we have to tick on DeepMeta? Rank is compulsory it seems..... And collection links to 500px, Asia images, banana stock and a squillion others.....

« on: June 27, 2020, 11:53 »
I suspect there is cheating going on. Very old images of mine seem to have been resurrected from somewhere - maybe they were rejected before? Anyway, they now appear in my port as new images. Which they aren't. At least, not new as far as being submitted is concerned, but I guess it makes SS stats look better if anything at all can be shown to be 'added'. Even old stuff.....
