Anyone in the market for a used 5D II??? (just kidding... sort of)
Anyone willing to go through all the hassle selling the current Canon gear? If I wasn't that lazy I'd probably do it. Sort of...
Or one could simply wait for the canon 5d mk III...

Why is it: "reasonable to assume that 80m of those sales were in the last 12 months" Maybe its 50m ? maybe its 100m
"Assumptions is the mother of all f*** ups"

^^^ once again what do my earnings have to do with your (wrong) statement? I STRONGLY doubt Yuri makes 3M a year, and even if so, a large sum of it isn't from MS. I know give or take how much Sean here makes, why don't you ask him if 28K is "pocket change" for him ? stop talking non sense. And leave my earning out of it, it has NOTHING to do with Yuri, the top 3 or 5 or 10, 28K or pocketchange. (and BTW I am not satisfiend at ALL with it).

And we think us microstockers earns money? get this then, cant mention his name but this guy during january earned himself a cool, 28K and apparently he does that every month of the year. not bad hey?
Macro RM ?
Yep!
I'd say that's pocketchange compared to top 3 microstockers
Nah! this guy is also one of the highest paid dayrate photographers in the world, his got a total turnover of 3 million bucks per year, top microstockers dont even come up to his knee-caps.
What it does show however is, the revenues are still around, no matter how much doom and gloom, theres money to be made. So lets saddle up guys, we can topple that, hey.
That is impressive. But I guess Yuri is making about as much, but he also has a lot of expenses, so if we're talking about net earnings, then yes, he really doesn't even come up to his knee caps. But Lise and Sean who are earning less are netting more and I'm sure it's more than 28k/month
There is a HUGE difference between earning more then 28K and "pocket change" there is not 1 person in the MS business that 28K (a month) is "pocket change" for them. What do my earnings have to do with anything ?

PaulieWalnuts: it was around 40c-45c but I was at 25% back then My RPI is very steady over all. I haven't noticed a correlation with images added.

IS isn't dead yet !
BME as an IS exclusive at 35% Over 2,300$ which is 22% more then last month and 180% more the Jan/2011 Almost 500 downloads. Over 3,500 photos. Last month PP sales are grew as well (more then double)
Has your RPI always been around 65 cents or has it changed as you add more images?
Well 65c is quite a lot since 3 EL's kind of skewed it and add to the fact that the 35% is a new thing for us. My "normal" RPI is around 50c-55c

IMO it only makes sense to compare exclusives' IS income against the total from all other agencies for indies.
great idea!
Absolutely! There is so much debate over whether the same artist would be earning more as exclusive or indie. Some way to measure this (however inexact) would be interesting.
+1 Leaf: How many people do you need to +1 this in order to make this come true ?

lagereek: you may be right but the $$ blinds me First month over 2,000$ for us. When you make pocket money out of MS it doesnt realy matter if you are indy or not because you don't lose much if you make a wrong decision. In our case its quite a lot of money (and rising!) so the risk is simply far to great.

Its not like this "edstock" collection is stealing any downloads from anyone. Over 120K files and less then 5K sales.

"Taking care of me" means that IS generates for ME a high revenue in $$$ for my stock portfolio. nothing more nothing less. And yes, I am willing to bet that probably more then if I was not exclusive.

January sales are currently way above average - whatever settings are in play right now, I'm liking a lot!
Same here.

IS is the only place keeping up image costs and royalties. Without them, you'd be getting $.10 from SS and images at DT would be $.50 .
... and yet, WITH them, us indies can get $0.7c and $0.10c FROM them. Less than we get anywhere else.
"us indies" can always go exclusive and get a fair price for your work, a higher commision and so on. (much MORE then you get anywhere else).

You should care should one major agency collapse. It would have a huge impact in the industry, and it leaves contributors at the mercy of fewer major agencies. The best outcome would be a return to cultivating strong community relations with contributors.
R U Sirius? iStock is the major agency least inclined to show mercy to suppliers, customers or, it now appears, staff. Their disappearance from the world of microstock would suit me just fine, both because of my own experiences with them and as a warning to anyone else who would attempt to strong-arm suppliers into accepting a terrible deal. And make no mistake: 16 cents on every dollar they take in is an insult.

Our humble graph
Finally someone adding something positive, even inspiring (to some exclusives). Congrats, way to go, sure looks like you could be getting into six figures in 2012
I wish... VERY few people make 6 figures a year at IS. Reaching 3K a month would be a good target for us.

I think its a good idea, if people are willing to share such info. I also think people would apreciate you sharing some of your own info.
Have you even shared your partner's portfolio?
No I haven't, but I do share my experience and pretty exact numbers every month...

I think its a good idea, if people are willing to share such info. I also think people would apreciate you sharing some of your own info. Like:
Was the negative trend in all file types ? How much have you been uploading ? Are you in the PP program ? Since you are a multimedia contributor is most of the drop in revenue because of going down a notch (or 2) in the royalty rate or just declining sales ? Are you full or part time ?
Real numbers is always a nice bonus...
