Think I will have a pint of whatever Pixelbites is drinking!

I think the theme will be polarization

Yep I think part of being smarter is spotting niches that are hard for factories to emulate e.g less well known and local to me locations

4404
Rather than focus on doom and gloom and things out of my control. I will continue to try and work smarter and as long as my (rather poor) income keeps on an upward trajectory I will carry on.

General - Top Sites / Re: Is DT still one of the Big 4?
« on: December 20, 2014, 05:55 »
IMO there is no big 4 - for me there is a BIG ONE - shutterstock followed by the middle sized 4 - Fotolia, 123, Istock Dreamstime - Dreamstime is trending sharply down for me but has often sprung back in the past. Contary to many reports I stock is trending up. Just sayin!

Adobe buying photo marketplace Fotolia for $800M 4:20 PM
Eric Jhonsa, SA News Editor
Along with its FQ4 beat, Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE) announces it's buying Fotolio, a top marketplace for royalty-free photos and videos, for $800M in cash. The deal is expected to close in Q1 2015.
Fotolia, which competes against the likes of Shutterstock (NYSE:SSTK) and Getty Images, claims to offer 34M+ photos and videos for sale. Naturally, Adobe plans to integrate Fotolia with Creative Cloud, and offer its services to the Creative Cloud base.
The purchase follows Adobe's 2012 acquisition of digital artwork/portfolio-sharing site Behance, reportedly for ~$150M. More recently, Adobe launched a curated marketplace for Creative Cloud content (icons, vector graphics, etc.).

I agree the dominant market share is a concern but its not SS's fault is it? I doubt this industry will look the same in 5 years - if I knew what it would look like i'd be far too busy making a fortune to be worried about 33c subs ;D

I do batches of twenty everywhere - find it keeps things manageable

« on: November 01, 2014, 06:54 »
noticed mine has gone from two to  three - ive been doing well by my standards of late but can't be bothered to check if its right or not - RF123 seem more prone to these kind of slips than most

"F40. Can I resubmit rejected files with DeepMeta?
No, this is not possible. The iStock API does not support this." - from FAQ.

Seems I can find rejected files in DM then need to work out where I've stored them make any changes then resubmit doable but PIA

Thanks both. I'm not sure I follow Sue - do I still need to resubmit the whole file as I don't seem to be able to edit just the captions?

« on: October 29, 2014, 07:01 »
Funnily enough I'm having a great month by my mediocre standards - for me DT seems to have  good spells followed by (longer  :( ) moribund periods

PhotoDune / Re: I'm Done with Envato
« on: October 28, 2014, 02:14 »
Not completely irrelevant at my current acceptance level I expect my income to stagnate and then decline unlike other sites where I'm still increasing port size at a reasonable rate. Clearly Photodune don't want my style of pics fair enough but the ones that got through seem to sell OK. Luckily their upload process is painless (though a bit odd)

I have had some images rejected for incorrect editorial captions - any thoughts on the best workflow to resubmit - looks a bit of a slog to me!!!

Its good to have a target - I aim for at least 20 a week and try not to spend too much time post processing

The worst site for me get rare sale or two and think its springing to life then......nothing

DT seem to be accepting almost everything now - apart from their similars policy I used to think they were very fair in the past. Unlike Dune who I also used to think were fair and reject almost everything now.
