I think he can do it by organic growth and Getty's self destructive actions.

They'd much rather spend $$$$$$ on consultants than listen to their customers/suppliers who might tell them the unpalatable truth

I wonder why Deposit photos seem much more variable than anyone else? Smaller sample size maybe? It would be useful to know the no contributors

"The problem is that any competitor with a web hosting service, cloud servers, and the ability to pay users more for their images and offer those images to customers at a cheaper price can tremendously disrupt the disrupter."
What puzzles me is that none of the many competitors seem to come close - I can only assume its not as easy as it looks! 4559

Funnily enough just had a sale on a pic submitted cos Alamy felt it was the wrong kind of camera (Canon SP95) so there is hope!

Software / Re: Adobes Profit Falls 59 Percent !« on: September 23, 2013, 05:03 »
"great and unappreciated program that has unfortunately been allowed to die by Nikon".... not dead but not updated for years other than for new cameras so it is gradually seeming outdated. However once you are used to it its a great piece of software still. The book by Mike Hagen is an excellent guide.

Yep had some UK banknotes refused seems too be another grey area. When images are stuck in canstock queue it usually means their ultra cautious legal team are reviewing them

Will be interesting to see what you think - I mainly use capture NX2 and a bit of Paint Shop for a few things find it OK but a bit unstable but its a fraction of the price of photoshop and I don't do a heck of a lot of manipulation.

Captain, weve hit an iceberg, were sinking and dont have anything like enough lifeboats, what are we going to do?
How about we rename the ship Titan and put a big dot at the end Love it! 4564

Sometimes they decide my pics should be editorial and they do sell about the same as RM. I don't set out to sell Editorial except on Alamy

I don't really understand the ins and outs of this stuff - but they already have quite a bit in the bank. 4566

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStockphoto Relaunch Sept. 17, 2013« on: September 20, 2013, 16:16 »
I don't think its one thing eg price changes that signifies panic its the sheer number of half arsed changes that don't seem to have a coherent pattern - e.g now accepting almost anything. Yes the "relaunch" needs some significant change at the same time and some kind of strategy framework where the changes fit in

"There has been a considerable amount of change already."
Yep before the "rebrand" looks like panic to me 4569
iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStockphoto Relaunch Sept. 17, 2013« on: September 20, 2013, 10:51 »
This change is so incremental you would hardly notice it - a re-branding needs to go with some change in the business or it means nothing

Microstock News / Re: Yayimages - Streaming Microstock« on: September 19, 2013, 10:36 »
Doesn't answer the key question how and how much will we get paid. Whether its a good thing for income is debatable but think its an inevitable development.

"I have a (conspiracy) theory that many sites accept newcomers first few submissions just to get them hooked and then reject based on other criteria". I suspect it is uneconomic for sites to maintain those small or unsellable ports. Besides most sites don't seem to have the competence do do as you suggest.

Lucikly my camera has two SD slots or I would have been caught out. Always in the habit of turning camera on before I set out and making sure its at F9 125th sec for any quick shots should a few aliens pass by
