iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock changing royalty structure
« on: September 07, 2010, 15:16 »
We will continue to pay out royalties based on the value of the credit purchased. In the case of royalties from Subscription credits we are adjusting the minimum value of the subscription credit from $0.95 to $0.65.

And for those opted into the sub plan it only gets worse.

Microstock News / Re: The Most Dangerous Thing Invented

The music industry today reminds me a lot of what it looked like in the fifties in that a lot of music is bought by the song. We have simply traded 45's for itunes. The album's heyday was 1968-2000, not a bad run for any product. Prior to the sixties lot's of music was bought in singles form, ie; the little old 45. Cassettes, eight tracks and CD's killed the 45 and people were forced to buy albums. I still remember having to buy the entire cassette to get one song, it used to tick me off.

This looks a a lot like clustershot's set up and their fee is 25 per year for an account and small commission per photo.

General Stock Discussion / Where sales come from
« on: July 02, 2010, 07:04 »
I just cashed out at Bigstock and due to the new tax info page I got a report that out of a $50 payment only  $1.50 was from US sources. I was surprised and would have guessed 90% of sales were US Based.

They have been slow for me this year, but they are an easy site to deal with.they have a easy upload process and the occasional big sales helps.

Well there goes another one. This is a tough business to break into. I suspect there will others before this year is out.

They have slowed down for me lately. Hope they pick back up soon.

Got one an love it. Touch screen is great and battery life is great. It's size makes its highly portable and the card reader (plugs into device) makes it a good device to review pictures. Iworks is a good scales down document suit. Wifi works well. I am waiting for someone to develop good photo editing app. I would recommend it.

I like it, i needed a new way to kill time while waiting for my ipad to arrive.

I don't post often here but I check in nearly every day and this site is the best place for honest conversation of issues in microstock. As other have said it is often blunt and pointed but that is what makes it useful.

Reminds me of clustershot's pro account, small fee with your own store front. Small commission to process sales.

Looks great, $499 is a great price for intro level machine. Should make all these ereader companies nervous.

17
I would give it a go!

BigStock has always been a steady producer for me, not great not bad. Lately though it has dropped off the face of the earth. I hope it picks back up soon.

Done, quick and painless. I am interested to see the results.

Interesting, I'm middle of the pack at istock which is higher than I would have thought. Dreamstime is about where I would expect it to be.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: How much do you like Istockphoto?
« on: November 17, 2009, 07:47 »
I've been with Istock since 2004 it has always been my top earner and generally easy to work with. While I find the upload process tedious I can't complain with results. The reviewers are good as well.

StockXpert.com / Re: Do they still need new images?
« on: October 30, 2009, 08:11 »
Sales have been good here, but they are photo.com and jupiter sales. Like many others I am worried if a switch happens and they dumped. Reviews are currently slow.
