Cameras / Lenses / Re: Friend wants to use Olympus E-410 or E-510 for microstock« on: October 19, 2009, 06:24 »
I use the e-510 which I got while circut city was going bankrupt. It has been great, as mentioned earlier the lens kit is a good deal.

I like this move, as long as the don't tinker a whole lot this could be a win win for all parties.

New Sites - General / Re: Clustershot.com« on: September 20, 2009, 20:19 »
I like the site, I signed up for a pro account since i was looking at setting up a web site anyways. easy interface. I was concerned though when I started searching pictures. There are a lot of photos with copy righted materials and logos everywhere. You might need a copyrights information link somewhere during the sign up process.
I like the watermark tool but I wish it was a little bigger. 30

General Stock Discussion / Re: What is your forecast on the future direction of stocksites??« on: September 16, 2009, 06:55 »
I never ceased to be amazed by the number of new sites that pop up. Within the last two months there seems to be even more of them. that suggest to me that someone things there is still more market share out there. I suspect they are right about more markets to tap but I think it will be the big player who tap into it. I like the idea of expanding into areas beyond typical stock that may need good artwork. I also think that while subscribtions have become the dominate model there has to be a way to beef up single picture sales. Other possible markets could be the self publishing business an agency could partner with a publisher to let them browse a catalouge for pictures. Novelty providers also offer another market.
I believe the big loser over the next year or two will be mid-level agencies. The bigger players have more resources and can but into any market that emerges. Mid level players do not have that flexibility. I have yet to see any new site that offers a really fresh approach or that has the capitalization to succeed. There are too many hurdles for new companies to jump. 32

I like the look of the site, but another micro site will be tough sell. But since I like your PSM software i'll give a try.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Easiest submission system« on: June 20, 2009, 09:10 »
Unofortunately ease of upload does not equal sales. Yay would be a big six if it did. 123 is also fairly easy.

why is there a 13 minute timer between when you can click the heart? I got to this topic late and read several good post and tried to test out the system.

I not sure about this, I like this site becuase it is about the free exchange of ideas as well a great place to get information and help. When you start ranking people it may diminish the value of that exchange.

Veer / Re: thanks Veer awesome email news JUNE 8. congrats all .« on: May 11, 2009, 20:22 »
So the prime criteria was sales from a site that was inconsistant at best? Why not just tranfer the ones with sales then?

General Stock Discussion / Re: What's the best day and time to upload??« on: April 22, 2009, 06:24 »
with approval times so varied when you upload has little relevance. i suspect most folks would like new pics to show up during the week and not the weekend that can be hard to judge.

SS does well for me, one type of photo they tend to reject is flowers. I have little luck with those. Most others do well. Fotalia is the one that kills me with rejections.
