I like Easy Release. Works well. Gets accepted everywhere I have used it.

Off Topic / Re: Making Images Better by Topaz - clarity
« on: May 30, 2013, 20:40 »
I have most of the Topaz filters. I tried Clarity for a view days, liked it, and bought it. I have submitted about 5 photos so far that I used clarity on and all were accepted where they have already been reviewed.

It does seem to save me time as I can get to a result I am looking for faster. And in some cases I am not sure I could achieve the same results with PS alone. Although I am sure others can.

For me, It is worth the 30 bucks.

What is 21MP that you are hoping to have within a few months? Canon 5D Mark II I am guessing since the MP's match.

I went for the 6D. I have had it for 2.5 weeks now.

I was 10mp a couple weeks before New Year's but now I am 20.2.

Cameras / Lenses / Canon 6D in camera lens corrections
« on: December 15, 2012, 11:28 »
I have just upgraded from a 40D to a 6D. So far I have only been setting the options and taking test shots.

With my 40D, all lens corrections were made in Lightroom with the lens profiling option for distortion and CA. Now with the 6D, there is the option of doing this in camera.

Does anyone have an opinion of whether one of these options is better than the other?

Veer / Question about Veer Keywords
« on: November 20, 2012, 11:14 »
I have been submitting to Veer not realizing they had a dictionary of keywords. I just upload and submit.

Yesterday I realized that if go to the keywords before submitting, it has a dictionary to clarify anything that could have more than 1 meaning. So I checked my portfolio and many keywords are missing. For example, pictures of beaches in Bermuda do not have the Bermuda keyword. They were dropped as I did not clarify the meaning of Bermuda.

So I figure I have to go through and reenter keywords on all my photos. But I cannot find how to add/delete/modify keywords for already existing accepted photos. Can someone please tell me how to do this? It is probably right in front of me on the screen but I cannot find it.

I live about 5 miles west of the Jersey coastline. It is real bad here. Many homes along the coast are ruined or just completely gone.

I drove 50 miles west to get an internet connection so that I can work for a while at my day job.

Pretty much all of NJ is without power. It has been coming back in some areas.

NYC is also bad is many areas. The fact that Shutterstock employees, if working from NYC, are even able to work at all is very impressive.

I will give you my thoughts as I do not have a very large portfolio either. I have between 200 and 600 images at each site. With that I am way over $100 every 2 or 3 months. So if that is what you are looking for, I think it should be relatively easy. But you need to work on increasing your portfolio size and most importantly get accepted at Shutterstock. You need to be on all the highest earning sites.

But even if you earn $100 every 2 or 3 months, if it is across multiple sites, it will not do much good if you cannot make a withdrawal. So you will need to earn enough from each site to make a withdrawal.

Off Topic / Re: Recommend a movie (2011/2012 if possible)

Wut,

A rather late response here, but I have seen The Fighter and it is great. I also saw The Machinist and it is one of my favorite all time movies. Another lesser known Bale movie that I really liked is The Prestige. But I watch everything he is in and he is always very good.

Hugo is another 2011 movie I thought was very good.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Someone hacked my accounts
« on: March 16, 2012, 22:26 »
Thank you to everyone that has replied.

As Stormchaser advise, it is best at this time not to say too much about details. I was told the same thing by the sites that were compromised.

I will say that the all the sites this happened at are very responsive and helpful. Things are being worked out. And of course I am changing passwords and info everywhere.

Thanks
  Steve

General Stock Discussion / Someone hacked my accounts
« on: March 15, 2012, 22:08 »
I has a couple emails today that I changed email address on on some of my accounts. I did not do this. Someone has somehow gotten into my Shutterstock, Fotolia, Dreamstime, and Bigstock accounts. They have added their email address in payout options, requested payouts, and in some cases changed the password and I cannot log in now.

I have sent support emails to all 4 sites.

What a mess.

Has anyone ever had this happen? Once I can get back into my accounts I will of course create new passwords. What else do I need to do.

In the case of Shutterstock, the email says what the email address was changed to. It is a gmail address. Anyway this can be traced?

Envato / Re: Dune and Graphic River
« on: December 28, 2011, 12:51 »
Thanks for the feedback.

It was not an isolation shot where they said to try Graphic River. But it caused me to check out Graphic River and I saw that isolations were one of the things they accepted there. So I was wondering if I should try uploading my isolations to GR even though they are also on PD.

I would say that about 75% of what I have submitted to PD have been accepted so far. Some of the ones that are being rejected are my best sellers at the other sites.

Envato / Dune and Graphic River

I am loading my Portfolio to PhotoDune. I had a rejection for a photo that said it would be better off in Graphic River. I checked out Graphic River and saw that Isolated Images are one of the items they accept.

For those of you that upload to PhotoDune, do you also upload your isolation shots to Graphic River? Is it ok to upload the same isolations to both PhotoDune and Graphic River?

Weird.... I have photos submitted 5 days ago that had a progress bar that was more than half way complete yesterday. Now today the progress bar went backwards and is less than a querter complete. And photos submitted 3 days ago are 3/4's complete.

So my oldest submissions went backwards and now have the longest wait.

Is this happening to everyone?

Yaymicro / Re: Yay Micro Rejection help
« on: June 16, 2011, 05:42 »
Some of mine are still pending and some have again been rejected for Technical Issues. The email I got said that if this happened, to let her know and she would talk to the reviewers.

I will reply one more time and let the person that answered my mail know what is going on, but not sure if I will continue uploading more images or not.

Mine were also put back in the approval queue.

I got a response back to my email saying that they should not have been rejected and that they were put back for approval.  I will see what happens this time around.

It was nice to at least get a quick response back to my mail.

The mail also said they are currently putting a new approval system in place which could have been the cause.

Yaymicro / Yay Micro Rejection help
« on: June 14, 2011, 19:34 »
For those of you that submit to Yay Micro, how difficult/easy is it to get photos accepted?

I figured I would pick a site I was not on yet and start submitting to them. I tried Yay Micro. I submitted 20 photos to start. All 20 were rejected for "Technical Issues".  I am not sure if I did something wrong with the sizing of the photos or did not meet some requirement, but I know they are large enough.

All photos are with about 10 other sites. If they do not want my photos I am fine with that, but I am trying to determine if I did something wrong and can correct it.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Lighting / Re: Help with Lighting Equipment Purchase
« on: April 27, 2010, 20:25 »
Lisa,

The 400mm is for birds and other wildlife as well a sports related subjects such as my son surfing. These are things I really enjoy shooting. The home studio lighting is more specifically for stock. They are two unrelated items but I have been wanting to get both. I am not planning on using the 400mm lens in the studio. For that I primarily will be using my 24-105 and 100mm macro.

Thanks everyone. I will wait for a few days and see if the Einstein lights get off of backorder. I also hear that the AB lights will be coming down in price and the Einsteins going up. As soon as that happens I will place my order (have to see what happens to the prices but I will get either the 1600's or the Einsteins).

Since I dropped the Cybercommander and receivers off my list (and I will use my Pocket Wizards), it also is enabling me to get the Canon 400mm f5.6 L lens that I have also been wanting to get. I actually just placed that order.

Thanks Lisa and Phil.

Lisa, I already have here at home one pair of PocketWizards. So I could just use those and skip the AB Cybercommander and receivers I guess. Does that sound like the right thing to do?

Controlling all the lights independently from the Cybercommander sounded nice, but maybe not worth the extra expense since I do already have 2 pocket wizards.
