iStockPhoto.com / Re: May 2008 Earnings per Image at iStock
« on: June 02, 2008, 21:13 »
$1,4404477611940298507462686567164 per image!  ;D

Interesting poll. Now I'm curious if those averages change now we got subscriptions!
@ Helix; is that with EL's included?
Having vectors will also influence our average because they can't go below one dollar, well..... now with subscriptions they can!

Thanks for the replies!
So they want sRGB? I hate it when I have extra work for all the different stock sites! I didn't noticed it before, but for some reason it looks butt-ugly on this particular image!

Dreamstime.com / Dreamstime's preview image sharpening!
« on: May 30, 2008, 14:08 »
Hi folks,
Can I have your opinion please!

What's wrong with Dreamstime's preview images?
I think there is way too much sharpening!
See the difference between StockXpert and DT. I uploaded the exact same JPG to both sites.

I'm silver but I got the mail.
Bad timing though, I made the top 50 on SS this week. Not exactly the right time to go exclusive to IS!

I see customers can buy subs in Euro now?  ???

Oh and I see they start right away with a 20% discount. Let me guess... from our cut again!  >:(

about french newspaper, I posted a following coment:" hey, I can offer you my lettuce picture watermark free for a very low fee! dont hesitate to ask.
kind regards, the photographer"

maybe I should mail them aswell
Very good approach!
Instead of threatening the guy (what doesn't help in most cases anyway) he is now motivated to become one of our customers!
Good for him and good for us!
Well done Victoria!  ;D

This site pops up pretty high in google;

So I would say lets write a nice review on this company.  :P

A photographer who can't make his own photo's. Wat a miserable piece of sh!t!  >:(

Congratulations,
I just uploaded my application, how long did it took?

I don't understand why SS didn't learn a lesson from all the fuzz from the previous raise! Same story; a lott of contributors pissed off because they where promised a raise, and didn't get any, because they where below the $500 marker.
Now they do it again!  ???
Well at least Im past the 500, but 3 cents doesn't make me very happy!
It doesn't make much right with the current dollar rate.
And they charge European customers in Euro!

Nice portfolio Adelaide and 4seasons!

@Contakt: You are talking about artists who have already made their marks in the world of art.
I think AR is a good start for the beginning artists, myself included!
Besides, I don't want my work to be limited. I wanna sell thousands of prints!  ;D

I totally agree Helix!
I wondered about that before. I figured it's the amateurs and housewifes who had a hard time getting in, and still find it hard to believe that they earn some money with their hobby.
The professionals who consider this as a business, wouldn't think about posting in that thread!
And I don't think that the folks from SS take the time to read that thread! They only read the threads about business questions/ bugs/ problems etc!

I have CS3 on Vista Premium. Illustrator is crashing all the time since I have the Betterhandles plug-in installed (awesome plug-in btw).
Corel painter is crashing anytime a few seconds after startup.
I considering to buy a Mac because Im fed up with windows.  >:(

Why are you making fun of people who got their career ruined?

Exactly!

careers ruined? Well, obviously not exactly... -> http://www.zurb.com/team .....and they are hiring people -> http://zurb.standoutjobs.com

contributor money in piggy bank accounts ruined? Well.......

Well if this is your point, why not make it a serious discussion?

I never submitted to LO because I didn't believe in it. But I still feel sorry for all the guys who worked hard and tried to make it successful.
I wish you all more luck and success in your future career.

I almost feel sorry for these buyers. Why don't they buy the EPS file for $5.00???

Two others are insisting that despite a portfolio of only a handful of images, they will implement the clause stipulating that images must remain on their sites for 6 months.  With one agency the 6 month rule applies only when you request deletion of images.

How about deleting every single image manually?
I know it's a pita if you have a large portfolio, but I don't think you will need 6 months for that.
