General - Top Sites / Re: Newbie, after site suggestions?
« on: December 04, 2006, 07:01 »
Yes I think so too.. But focus on DT, IS, SS, StockXpert and Fotolia, they probably will make 90% of your earnings.

I think its good and we will make more money in the long run with lower Extended license prices. Fotolia and I think Istock took too have much lower prices. And as we see with Fotolia you actually have at least a few extended license sales in a month contrary to DT. I never had an EL sale at DT.

No, too much work, which I do not know if it is worth the effort, and if they get accepted at DT and they sell well, I still can submit to SS and the other agencies.

I am using it, it saves a lot off time, and I guess they are doing a good job. I got my first images keyworded. I am doing it for those  I am not sure they get acceppted and where keywords are harder to find, so it saves me a lot of time.

iStockPhoto.com / Istock favors Exclusivity in Best Match search?
« on: November 24, 2006, 06:30 »
Yesterday was my worst Thursday for a long time. I was wondering why, and made a Best Match search on penguins. Normally the best match search will show one of my penguins on the 3third or so place. But now they moved to the second page.
What happend? What I discovered, that all the images which are ranked before my images are images from exclusive Photographers. Is it a coincidence or did they really changed the best match search in favor of the exclusiv Photographers?

WOW, 25% @ 123Rf that is amazing, I earned like less than 1% there. For me right now there is a race between SS and IS for the lead for two month now. SS won last month and this month it seems they will win again. But I have only a fifth of the amount of images at IS.

It allways depends, if you have images in a row of the same subject you can copy paste and you can come easily under a minute. And if you do this for hours and days you will get faster, because you do not have to think about the keywords, they just pop up, seeing the image.  I am much faster now in keywording than I used to be. Imagin a keywording fulltime job. I guess you can become really fast as a proffessional. Imagine doing that for a month with 8 hours a day 5 days a week @50 images/hour (for the first month). Then you have keyworded more images than almost anyone has online. Probably then you are a proffessional.
For people in India this job could be really attractive, they have internet and still low wages.

Congratulations, yes, if you have a sale, it is exciting. But that is exciting, apart from the high commission, because it is an unusual event :-)

Why just don't erase the EXIF Data, they do not need it anyway. I never had rejections of my collaged Images. @CJPhoto, I just do not as Leaf described put two images on a white Background. And they sometimes sell by far more better than the single Images together.

Thanks for the stats, yeah it is more than a week ago that I had my last sale and that with that penguin picture with the most dlds under animals.. Its quite slow. Actually it slowed down for me. So I am really not sure if that site has a promising future.

I agree with fotografer, I too had a FIOTW and as far as I know I am not exclusive :)

Quote

They also get a additional promotion as I think the images on the home page are always exclusive.

Not true I have had a FIOTW and I'm not exclusive and some AOTW aren't exclusive.

Do you mean the "did you mean" word in the brackets?

American passport proves my point. Red car is not an official addition to their tagging system. American flag is. You completely missed what I said and proved my point. I'm talking about using the "Did you mean" thing to add the phrase to there system.

My sales have been more than doubledl last week. This week the went down again. Although more of my pictures went up if they are searched by best match..

My sales haven't suffered too much but I have been uploading my full quote of 50 images a week so I would be expecting my royalties to be climbing steadily.

I had my best day ever today. My sales have gone up exponentially since the change. I think the old hands are just upset because they had the old system clocked and now they have to figure out a new system, and until they do the rest of us have a far shot.
