Is it real? You can sign in using your SS ID and password....anyone try yet? I'm not so sure about giving that info unless I'm 100% sure this is indeed a SS site.

The domain is owned by Shutterstock according to the whois info.

Im not so good with coding and stuff , but wouldn't it be possible to build a small site where when someone finds something like that just copy-paste the link and the system does reporting automatically or semi-automatically and report the case where it should be reported in shortest possible perod. Or if its strange some moderatr could take a look a decide if its worth reporting.

You Thought We Wouldn't Notice... but we did. No reporting as such, but is this the sort of thing you had in mind?

Jenn (bortonia) sorted out my problem above swiftly. Thanks Jenn.

And FWIW, I've just deactivated another 15 and will do more later when we get back from Les Mis.
Reason: "iStock idiocy. No faith in management."

Welcome news, especially if it pressures iStock into behaving responsibly.

... this is the first step in what we hope will be a great partnership with Google.

*facepalm*

Webmasters are considering blocking Google images according to this blog and others. I think they feel that they've been locked out due to the changes made - no useful traffic to their websites from Google Images as there was just a few days ago. Some of the comments are worth a read.

It's outrageous that iStockphoto & Co need this level of supervision by contributors and forums like this one.

Good luck with the first organised contributor led action tomorrow a little bit of Microstock history in the making.

How about a DMCA takedown notice for the files of yours still on their site? :)

Good idea :) I thought I was clean until I discovered a few images 'wrongly' hosted on GI.

Slightly off topic in that it isn't about Thinkstock but does relate to their parent company. Anyone know how best to remove files from Getty when you have no account credentials or contract? I didn't agree to the contract offered last year(?) which I thought would nuke my work. Certainly nuked my payments.

Can anyone confirm that Ingram Publishing's SignElements (formerly iSignStock) feeds into Thinkstock? Thinkstock being a Google Drive conveyor.

Apologies if I've missed something already posted.

[Edited for clarity]

I've joined the 'One File Left Club' with my IP still intact thanks to MSG

Not sure why my post turned into a massive link, wasn't intentional.

The problem with all the PR on this issue is that it will drive "buyers" to Google Drive to snag free images. Sorta like free advertising.

it is a double edged sword of the worst kind.

OX
...the drain spins faster

Those images have already been orphaned plus they're being distributed via Google to a much larger crowd than this PR would ever generate. Best to use this sorry situation as an example for longer term goals I reckon.

I removed most of my files after the RC system was introduced. I've got 64 images left and I'll be removing 63 of them ASAP. I don't really want to wait until 2nd Feb - three weeks is a long time, maybe enough time for them to hurriedly extend their scheme?

ETA: Oops forgot to tally, thanks lisafx :)

There's a bit more background information on Instagram's "need to monetise" in this report from the Beeb;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20767537

I agree with this comment on that article by John McCormick

"One thing the complacent overlook. This is what the top of the slippery slope looks like. You'll find after one or two more shake-ups like this that THEY own YOUR photo, because you uploaded it onto THEIR server. As inevitable as gravity. Get out while you can."

Even if they do a u-turn - that's it for me.

I'll be deleting my Instagram account over the hols. I simply can't stomach these 'inertia contracts'. I had to delete most of my files from iStock when they implemented a similarly styled thing albeit to do with the right to choose where my images are sold. Shame really.

This is too weird, just searching for innocent terms "organic vegetables", here is another one:

What would be the use of this one apart from giving me nightmares?  ;D

Fear of genetically modified crops? Like them both, attempting something different should be applauded :)

I'm not sure if it matters but I like to think I'm giving an edge to the better paying sites in the google searches but holding my uploads for a month or two to the sub sites.

Lots of factors in the mix but I thought you might like to know that according to our data your approach has a very significant effect and does make a very real difference.

If you're ever considering which mouse to buy then the Logitech MX518 Optical Gaming Mouse is extremely accurate with adjustable sensitivty and the weight feels right - had a few now and recommend them for design work to anyone that'll listen.

Never been bettered in my experience.

I've got an Intuos 3 9x12 A4 which gives 1:1 mapping and it really is a pleasure to use but the whole thing is much wider and longer than my laptop and I agree with jsnover that it is a bit too big for everyday use.

Here are some of my findings which I hope might be useful written in a patronising form for the sake of speed :)

You won't be able to take a holiday for the first two years at least - and you won't want to.
You will need to keep expectations low and keep under the radar after launch whilst you learn how to run an agency.
You will really notice and appreciate the contributors putting in the time to help your project.
You won't be able to get behind test portfolios and their owners will be your most vocal critics.
You must have the full support of your immediate family, even if not directly involved they will have to make sacrifices too.

Above all you will need to enjoy your new job and you will only enjoy it if you can shape and control it - Ktools might not be up to the job in the longer term, that's just my opinion though.

I was up last night until 6AM due to someone in the southern hemisphere having a credit card issue which I needed to look into in case it turned out to be a wider site problem (which it wasn't thankfully & the customer got his image) - it will be your baby and you might have to skip sleep sometimes.

If no one here can talk you out of it then just do it, but I would consider writing your own code so you can deviate from the norm if you want to and when the time is right.

Good luck!
