Here's what I believe:
If we are all determined to succeed personally and to make the Symbiostock network succeed, then we and it will likely succeed.
If we are all willing to do the hard work to set our sites up right, then we and SYS will succeed.
If we all have a long-term perspective and determination to stick it out through the slow-start period, then we and SYS will succeed.
Personally, I'm in this for the long run. I'm doing my best to make my site a good one. And I don't intend to drop out if mega-sales don't happen right away.
I'm determined to make this work. If enough of the rest of you are determined, it will work for all of us.
+ another 1000 Exactly my approach.

Can't wait for the premium version. Really looking forward to seeing what great new features you have come up with. This will no doubt be a real shot in the arm for Symbiostock and those who may still be sitting on the fence.
Its huge things are batch operations, selling sets of images, and twitter integration. Then you have the licensing. I'm just finishing up the extended license part now, but I'm thinking of releasing it earlier and finish that part later after the test driving has been done. I'm glad people are looking forward to it.
Please add me to the list of people looking forward to it ... I'm really curious.

I understand both ideas (low prices and higher prices). Actually I'm not sure which path I should follow (tending towards higher prices at the moment). As a matter of fact we do not have experience enough to tell what's the right strategy. So I would suggest a place, where we report our sales exactly: which image, which size and the prize of course. That way we could gain real experience and adjust our pricing.

Good idea. I allready had links to symbiostock.info in my About and FAQ but now I added one in the footer and added it also to my network.

Welcome Chris. I would recommend wordfence (free security plugin, which also allows you to watch the traffic of your site) and Leo's sitemap-plugin (15 $).

Great to hear that you are fine, Leo.

If you use the NextGEN Gallery plugin deactivate it ... it causes problems with the symbiostock_image_info.xml After deactivation of the plugin manually update your public image and network info and wait 24 hours for symbiostock.info to get your data. Nice site btw

Isn't there someone around who could do a short but cool and informative video about Symbiostock ... I really like the idea of having one for PACA and for the promotion on our sites. I would do it, but I don't have the knowledge and software.

I can only answer for me (but think it's not different from other symbiostock artists). I worked with the big agencies for years, so most of my images passed several quality checks. Only a few photos (my most recent) are exclusive on my own agency at the moment (perhaps I will upload them to the well-known agencies in the future) but of course they all follow the same quality standards.

I never run the sandbox, but started live immediately ... and never had problems.

That sounds good to me ... I would provide some of my files for a promotional video. Who else?

« on: August 09, 2013, 01:27 »
What would you like to show in the video? Explaining the technical basics of Symbiostock plus showcasing files already available?

just go to searchform_symbiostock.php
row 27-33
<select id="select_type" name="post_type" >
<option value="image">Images</option>
<option value="post">Blog</option>
</select>
should be replaced by:
<input type="hidden" name="post_type" value="image" />

I'm not familiar with videos, but if there's a way I can help just let me know. But having a real person in New York would be better, wouldn't it ... nobody based close to New York?

Leo, I really like those big posts you write from time to time. Actually I don't feel like passionately discussing metadata or registration process (perhaps I overlook something, but I don't prioritize these issues at the moment). What I really enjoyed was the idea of unlearning agencies, getting rid of the question whether something will be considered as "suitable as stock" by an inspector or not. Of course not because I want to produce technically lousy photos in future but because I would like to get back some of the creativity you are tending to loose when producing for agencies. Staying with your metaphor: I'm neither in the middle of the ocean yet nor sitting scared at the docks. At the moment I'm sitting in the wheel house of my ship ... sometimes I go down to the machine room tuning the engine a bit or I go on deck adding some color. But then you see me back in the wheel house, my feet on the dashboard, thinking about where my first journey should take me ... I won't sit her too long, but right now I enjoy the sunrise

I would prefer an image but I'm not sure whether the smaller or bigger one ... so having an option is always the best way I think.

Seems to be the nextgen gallery..........Would this be because I changed from gd livrary to imagemajick yesterday?
I highly doubt it.
Does the next gen gallery need to be activated? or can i run without it?
No, it isn't required by Symbiostock.
I dont know what it does
The NextGen Gallery is used for creating slideshows (see here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/nextgen-gallery/)
Which version are you using?
using version 2, if I've solved the problem then I guess I'm happy. I hope jsfoto manages to solve theirs
I guess my public image info is working fine, as the files aren't empty any more ... not sure about the warnings ... perhaps there are problems I didn't even notice

Warnings are still there...
Did you make any code changes? Or download any "fixes" from GitHub?
No, no code changes or fixes

6 files are missing for me. To be on the safe side I just set the last 7 files to draft ... but I still get the same warnings.

Temporarily deactivated the following plugins:
Anti-Captcha, Captcha, BackUpWordPress and Wordfence
No difference ... I allways get the same warnings.
