iStockPhoto.com / Re: Poor vector sales - Same IS bla, bla, bla...
« on: February 04, 2012, 03:16 »
My  vector sales get worse and worse every month. I was mainly staying exclusive with istock for their "copyright protection". I found one place that stole my image and said they drew it. Istock said they see nothing in violation. The last time I found one of my illustrations being made into a toy in China, they told me to go find a lawyer they won't do anything about it. So.... The "copyright protection" they pretend to give exclusives doesn't exist, so I am searching for more options. So sad.

this is pretty sad that they are not doing anything for the violation... I found it little wierd when they said The last time I found one of my illustrations being made into a toy in China, they told me to go find a lawyer they won't do anything about it.

I'd just like to let you know that we have a fix in place for the issues causing images to disappear from both search and your portfolio. The site should be correcting itself now but it may take some time.

Our support emails are very backed up at this time due to the issue detailed above. We are working hard to catch up on all emails in our submitters' support queue

Thanks for the update and info...

Shutterstock is an outstanding and highly professional microstock agency who, in contrast to others, are continuing to grow our incomes on a monthly basis. Be grateful to them and don't start silly threads like this whining about nothing.

agreed by your words.
but I never complained that shutterstock is not good. I just started this tread to share that there has been many bugs in past few months.
And for rejections reviewers work weirdly... sometimes they reject the images and sometimes they accept the same...

Shutterstock still very good and most lovable site amongst contributors.

I have seen that from a long time lot of changes have been made in shutterstock.... with lot of errors.

To short down here are the problems :
- Images not Visible,
- Submitters Support not very active,
- Sometimes images get reviewed very late.... and sometimes don't even get reviewed for which they have to be informed.
- Files which get reviewed don't gets online when checking with Newest First.
- Unusual Rejections of Images

Shutterstock comes in top tier but these things really gives you bonus frustration with good earning.

I am not sure whether others are facing these things or not... If so then do share your views about it.

Now that you mention it, we may not be able to make copyright claims towards these link sites but on the other hand we could make their advertisers aware of their practices.

I was just reading the user agreement of www.clixsense.com:

Quote
Google's Adsense has something along those lines as well in their TOS under point 5 here:
https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms

I know this might be some work but if we could identify the advertiser and get a number of affected copyright holders together that complain simultaneously to the advertisers, then the site might become "unsustainable"  Roll Eyes

I don't think there are countless advertisers that they can sign up with.

Maybe someone who knows a bit more about their advertiser could chime in.

I have no problem reporting it to the advertiser once I find a link to my images on their site.

ohh this is nice...
I bet that even advertisers are aware for it. But since there TOS says so we can definitely claim copyrights :D

But advertiser will contact the website and web admin will go away saying that we do not host any file on our servers.
The only way to remove all these is to contact the host ppl (ie rapidshare, megaupload.. etc) regarding these issues and telling them to remove it immediately...

These site gain a lot of profit through advertisements. These should be shut down but perhaps even stock agencies knows about it and they themselves are not able to take any action as they claim for not hosting any link on their site.
I myself will be very glad if this comes to an end.
I can only suggest that there are many numerous site on the internet like that. Its better to focus on your work success (nothing personal) ...  ;)

they are made in software called RealFlow.. It is best for simulating CGI water. Realflow is used in many blockbuster movies and its an acadamy award winning software too..
If you wish too make such water then you will have to learn RealFlow as well as any 3d application like Maya or 3dsMax.. :)
