Newbie Discussion / Re: Microstock Millionaire EBook

Have you made a million dollars off stock or is that a title that gets people interested?

227
That money would have been better spent spying on their competition.

There is also the fact that many central banks are printing money which makes the price of everything rise. I went to MacDonald's last week for the first time in 3 years. The price of a big Mac was $8.60 AUD. I was shocked as the last time it was around $6. Then I though about some of my images selling for $2 and felt a bit discouraged.

The cost of living in Australia has gone through the roof over the last few years. Interesting report on the BBC's 'From Our Own Correspondent';

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21519050

Australian microstockers must have been particularly hard hit as the $US has devalued hugely relative to AUD and local prices have increased.

Yes, we had a good run a few years ago when the US dollar was .65c but now we're down to eating beans. To make matters worse I pay more in tax than I live on. The average house where I live is $500,000.

We have no idea what's happening at the technical level inside iS. They could have an algorithm that limits earnings for contributors based on folio size, earnings, etc, to try and spread the wealth. They could be using some of the profits to buy the occasional image to encourage production. We have no idea what they are doing. We just put in our images and the magical money machine pays out.

I sent a link to my vast portfolio of wild flowers. I'm out!!!

I'd like no inspectors once you prove reliable. No refunds. 80% payout to artists. No public record of sales information to stop the copycats.

why not 81%? I believe 50% is a fair deal, don't forget they are the ones getting us buyers....

Look, make it 82% and you've got a deal.

Just this morning and I had over 30 refund of purchase notifications. Way to go IS. All on the same date so probably a fraudulent credit card.

235
It works for IS because the refunded credits often get spent on other images at IS. The artist gets to wear it.

Confirms what I have long suspected...that the over supply of art and artists means that they don't value us as much as we value them. Even the best are not safe.

Stocksy / Re: Bruce, Our Knight in Shining Armor? Stocksy Co-op
« on: February 09, 2013, 07:37 »
I'm starting  a co-op stock site called crapsy. For all of those artists who get rejected by stocksy. Who's in?
ooh goody, somewhere to park all my pictures of fruit. :)
At Crapsy we love old pictures of fruit but what we really need is more pictures of flowers. We love photographs of flowers from your home garden. Crapsy!

haha, well it depends ... what are your plans :  micro, mid or macro stock ?   And will you exclusively sell crap or are some average quality images allowed too?   ;)
I describe it as midmicromac. All average images will be sifted out by an army of inspector interns. I promise that you will receive 99% royalties until I run away to the Caribbean with your unpaid royalties. Crapsy!

Refunds with a range of possible reasons including; credit card fraud, our client just didn't like it, duplicate downloads, etc. Be more specific with your feedback, please.

Whenever I've done an image search on google Istock images rarely appear unless the search criteria is rather narrow. Every other agency comes up ahead of istock. I wonder if this deal with google was some attempt to garner favour.?

Makes sense. For years a made $10 every few weeks by referral but after the change I've only had one referral - 18 credits. I've been going to take down my links by haven't got around to it yet.

Istock will go down until it's a compete mess and then Bruce (who invested his millions) will fly back in and buy it up again at pennies on the dollar and lead it to supremacy again!

Is does makes sense. When I read my agreement with them it clearly said you can sell from other RF sites but not from your own. How can he do it? I admire him for doing it I just want to know how it is possible.

sure it is possible, Yuri wouldnt make such a ridiculous mistake, like I have said an istock contributor is running an agency for over a year and nothing have happened

I didn't think he would be that stupid. Seems I've been living in la la land. You're living the past man!

It says that in the independent contract? Seems odd that someone can sell anyplace except their own site. Please do a cut and paste of that part from the contract (with the section numbers) so I can see where it is?

And as they say at places I've worked... "there are always exceptions".  ;)

I've just read it again and it seems you are correct. I can't find it in the current contract. I'm going from memory of what it said serval years ago.

I only have the exclusive ASA saved from that time not the non exclusive but I'm sure it use to say not from your own site.
